It had been quite some time since he had seen Heliodora, Chris found himself thinking one weekend as he sat curled up on his worn out couch. He had been playing catch up with life, admittedly, getting sick had set him back, not to mention those lost quizzes for his classes and then midterms had come and given him a headache. So it was no surprise that he hadn't seen her or even thought about her, too busy trying to make sure he didn't fall behind in everything he had to deal with. It had unnerved him awhile to even think about what had happened there anyways, the sound of that voice and the weird tastes in his mouth. Pax and the trees and the.. severed foot. Everything about the place was weird and so he had thrown himself into his work and school to avoid thinking about it, the only time it ever briefly crossed his mind was when he mourned all the missing quizzes (and damn did it irritate him to have to put down 100s for all the kids, he had actually put in effort for that quiz).
But it was the weekend now, he was being forced to not teach or come into the school, and he found himself wondering about her and the other place. About the rest of the students, the ones they hadn't managed to find or see. Where were they? He had tried to ask about them (he thought), but Pax had been terrifying and Autumn, bless her he really owed her a lot, and everything had been kind of lost in the confusion. When it was finally time to leave, he was ready to leave, and so he had stepped back home without much of a thought. Leave it for another time, another person, another Chris.
Now though, now he had some time and maybe he could go back and look? Other Ashdown was.. unnerving, yes, but the students were still there and he wanted to make sure they were okay. Maybe he could check up on Heliodora, if nothing else, make sure that he didn't fail any further at being someone who was supposed to look out for kids. The whole group last time, they hadn't been able to search all of the area anyways, so it would definitely be beneficial for him to go back. It only took him a few more seconds of consideration, tapping his fingers along the armrest of the couch, before he pulled himself up and headed towards his room.
Pajamas wouldn't do if he was headed there and he changed quickly, pulling on a pair of ratty jeans and an older but warm sweater that he wouldn't mind getting dirty. Boots came next, thick soled and heavy and he laced them as tightly as they would go, still somewhat bitter about the mud he had tracked into his apartment and the loss of a nice pair of oxfords. This time he'd be sure to keep at least the shoes, if not his carpet. Not like it mattered since it wasn't the nicest apartment anyways. Next was his bag and he dropped in it a flashlight, an umbrella, a jacket, and some water and food. His keys went tucked into his pocket and finally, he felt ready to go to the other place.
The only question now was how?
Idly, his hands went to his pockets, tapping against his keys. He had heard a rumor, of course, everyone who had lived here for at least a year knew the rumor. But was it worth it?
He considered it for another moment then walked out his door, locked it, and went to find his car.
It was worth a try to find her.
