Guilt... was one hell of a motivator. As was a solid -smack- in the face realization that the person you were hating, the same one you assumed was some kind of mockery of a human, secretly kindly one. Was...well.. human enough to have funny t-shirts and cos-play hoodies. He was telling himself he'd regret this on...so many levels if he did it, but he also knew on so many that he'd regret it on so many if he did NOT.

Sunny was waiting on the beach. Not for Zac, though: once she saw him she sneered and turned out to the waves, dark eyes fixed on the place where the horizon met the water. "Go away, Zac."

Zac sighed... he wasn't...shocked, not really, but he dug around in his bag and pulled something out. He stared at it for a long moment, the worn fabric, the scratched glass, over all soft, smelling of age and... very much reminiscent of an old book he'd loved as well, but toys did -not- come to life if you loved them enough. "Hey..." he said, not ...entirely wanting to smack her in the head with it. He just needed her to mind him enough that he wouldn't cream her with it. He tossed it towards her, a floppy bundle of black and white.

Sunny turned and caught it, a reflex more than anything. Her eyes narrowed and she looked up from the fabric ball with heavy suspicion. "What's this for," she asked.

"Because I think you could use him, maybe more than me... His name is Tenebrous..." He folded his arms and stared pointedly in...well, any other direction than her, more than half waiting for the sound of tearing fabric. He was still working on his opinion but, acknowledging humanity was...a good start? Maybe?

Sunny held the toy for a moment, forehead wrinkled with concentration. The moment the shape of the animal dawned on her, her frown only deepened, creasing her youthful face. Her nails dug into the well-loved fabric, as if she were thinking about tearing it apart, but instead... Instead she started to cry, burying her face in the plush body of the panda, her shoulders shaking with each awful, gasping breath.

He was –not- watching to see if she tore the old panda apart. He was…absolutely watching. He expected the frown; he expected rage, or rocks, or fire and brimstone. He did not expect tears. “..W…What? N, No! No don’t cry! Why are you crying?!” he said anxiously, he even moved closer, for that moment at least the idea that she was Dangerous was lost as his hands hovered, without permission to touch near her. He was an only child for heavens sake; he didn’t know what to –do- with tears. “I, I’m sorry! Are you allergic?? I mean, oh god.”

Sunny must not have known what to say. For several long moments (doubtless extended by Zac's discomfort) she sobbed, each ugly pause a little shorter. She sniffled and held the panda tight to her chest, eyes already gone red, nose running. "Thank you," she warbled. Tears still ran unchecked down her cheeks.

“…yeah.” He said softly. He wasn’t sure what else to say. “Sorry I’m uh… I’m… kind of bad at…” He pulled a little into his own shoulders and rubbed at his neck. “… would you…like a hug?” He offered cautiously. He pulled absently at his ear, or on one of his earrings and there-by his ear, worry in his eyes, more than a little anxiety, like he was afraid he would just make things worse… or was it better because she said thank you. He had his arms vaguely out...offering if she wanted.

Sunny shook her head. "You reminded me of someone I lost," she said. "'Til you offered the hug." She smiled, a little, through the tears and ran a hand over Tenebrous's head with the kind of gentle care a child with her own stuffed toy might have applied. "I'll be okay," she said. "I always am."

“”I’ve said that… a lot “ Which maybe, meant more than just admitting to using that phrase. “…Take good, take good care of him for me okay?” He said stuffing hands in his pockets and staring at his shoes. “… If you’re ever… not ok. I figure, you know how to, how to reach me.” He shrugged. “I gotta go meet with…” He took a breath and let it out. “With my Dad. So…yeah.”
