While they had decided to head out to Matori, Dezani wasn't exactly sure just how well their plan was going to go. Sure, he'd traveled quite a bit, but never so far. He knew both Tale and Sauti well. They were both comfortable places for him that he enjoyed going to. As far as Matori went he had never even set foot there. It made him nervous, and Raiha could very obviously tell his discomfort from her concerned little squawks she was giving him. It would be okay though. He had to keep telling himself that. He and Araie were going to have a grand adventure and see many wonderful sights. He just had to keep himself being confident.

"So, what do you think we'll see in Matori? Anything exciting?"

Araie was practically bouncing on her feet as she walked, imagining all the new and exciting things they would discover in Matori. She hadn't heard much about the place, considering that she had barely even heard of Sauti when she had been in Zena. Her parents had done their best to shelter her and keep any knowledge of the outside world away from her, and they had done exceptional jobs of it until she had left.

"I know there is supposed to be beaches! And water as far as the eye can see! And that sounds plenty of exciting to me, to be quite honest. I'm sure there is far more there to discover than just that, of course. But the idea of so much water...well, that's one of my main reasons for wanting to go. What about you? Why are you so willing to run off with me to Matori? You've never been there before, right?" Araie asked, turning to look at Dezani. She had to look up at him now. That was so strange for him. He hadn't been short before, but they had been similar in height. That wasn't the case anymore.

"No, I have never been. This will be my first time going anywhere near. I've been to Tale, Sauti, and a little bit of Zena. That is about it. This is going to be a new experience for both of us I'm afraid. Why? Does it worry you?" he questioned, glancing down at her. He'd of course heard of the sand and water, though what he was really more excited about was spending more time with her than anything else. He didn't care where they went, but since she wanted to head to Matori then that was where they were going to go. No sense in keeping himself sheltered to the places he had been all of his life. It was time for a change.

"Psh, I'm not worried at all. We've been through worse together and were just fine, so I'm sure we'll be better than okay now! New experiences are what I live for most of the time, and I'm glad I'm getting to share this one with you. It will be a nice change of pace, considering how we met back up the last time, yeah?" Araie smiled as she took Dezani's hand in her own, squeezing it gently. She took a certain comfort in his presence as she smiled up at him, already feeling more at ease than before. She wasn't sure what it was about his company that always helped her feel so much better, but she was glad he was with her now.

"As long as you are comfortable with it all then I am glad to accompany you. Maybe we'll get to see some of the great Matorian beast, huh? I think that would be pretty fun. Or even just running around collecting seashells. That would be just as fun." If the Matori let them that was. He had only interacted with them during the war, and even then it was in small amount. He'd never been able to speak with them in a casual situation. He could only hope since they weren't Oban they would be a bit more accepting of them exploring their region. If not, well they would have a few problems to say the least.

"Dezani, of course I'm comfortable with it. The one thing I missed more than anything during our time apart was your company. You always had a way of making me laugh and smile and forget my worries and just generally have fun when I was with you, even when you weren't speaking to me. I'm glad to have you back by my side, even if it isn't a permanent arrangement," Araie smiled up at her friend, a small blush on her pale cheeks. She hadn't meant to say all of that. She hadn't meant to say that at all. But whelp, it was out in the open now. Aw well. She just hoped he didn't mind her sappy words.

Dezani had been so distracted by Araie and just being with her in general, he hadn't realized the wind picking up until Raiha started to squawk at him in her annoyance. She always prided herself in flying in tough conditions, but it seemed the weather had different plans for them. He'd heard the locals speaking of a storm, but hadn't bothered to listen in on it too closely. Too focused on other things he supposed. Now he wished he really had. Perhaps then they wouldn't have dirt and everything else lashing at them and blowing into their eyes. They needed to find some shelter fairly soon to get out of it, but being so far out that was going to be hard to find.

"I am glad to be with you. Now, we should probably hunt for somewhere to stay before the storm separates us," he attempted to joke, trying to think of the best plan for them.

Araie nodded as she covered her mouth and nose with her hand, trying to keep her face shielded from the angry winds. The storm was getting worse and worse with every passing second, and it had already come out of nowhere. Hadn't she heard something about a storm in the last village they had crossed...? Ah, it was too late to think about it now. Now they needed shelter.

"There should be a cave somewhere along the rockwall here, and I can use my magic to keep it fairly well protected from the storm. But we need to hurry. We won't be able to see much more for too much longer!" Araie said as she pulled Dezani towards the rocks. It didn't have to be a big cave or anything. They just needed something to give them as much shelter from the biting sandstorm until it died down.

Dezani followed after her with Raiha in tow, hands out in front of him to try and shield himself from the lashing winds. He had been foolish for not paying more attention. They were traveling and needed to know what the weather conditions were going to be like so they didn't walk into anything dangerous like they were doing at this exact second. As long as they made it out of the winds and into a protected area he was sure they would be fine. They just had to find such a place first. Some travelers they were.

"Are you sure there will be something close by?"

Araie nodded, preparing to launch into a story about how her and her brother had once been caught in a situation a lot like the one, just with snow instead of sand, when she barely spotted a small dark spot on the rock face. She pointed it out to Dezani and began to run forward. The sky had grown dark and the winds were getting much stronger than before. They needed to get inside and soon.

Dragging Dezani into the cave, she didn't even look to see how big it was before she had started drawing runes on the ground to hastily build a rock wall at the entrance to the cave. The ground shuddered before he rock arose and blocked off the cave, thrusting them into complete darkness. She stumbled through the darkness until she was sure she was away from her companions and drew another rune on the ground, causing a small campfire to appear. Breathing a sigh of relief, she sat down on the hard ground.

"Well, that was a small adventure," she laughed, looking up at Dezani.

Dezani could only stare in amazement at the woman before him. Sure, he had known she was a magic user, but he'd never actually seen magic used up close before. He was not magically talented in any way so seeing it all so close was a thrill to him. Even if she had only done simple things, they were still way out of his reach in every way. All he knew how to do was deal with Raiha. Not exactly a great accomplishment or anything. Compared to her talents he was just a boring little leaf man. He'd never really envied magic users before, but seeing her work her wonders did make him wish he'd had an ounce of talent in that field to try and do something with it.

"You are simply amazing," he complimented, relieved that they were out of the danger for now at least.

Araie blushed and shook her head, leaning over to brush some sand out of Raiha's feathers. She wasn't used to such praise for her magic abilities. Her brother, love her as she did, usually just talked about how much trouble they got her in. And even though she was on better terms with her parents now than she was before, still weren't exactly happy that she had chosen to focus on this type of magic more than something else.

"Oh, I wouldn't say that. I'm sure someone more talented could have done a much job than me. But forget about that. Did we want to rest here for a few minutes and then maybe explore the cave a bit? It looks a fair bit larger than I had first expected," Araie asked quickly, eager to change the subject. The cave was bigger than she had first assumed though, that much was true. The flickering fire light only brought light to the first central part of the cave, but there seemed to be a winding path behind them that lead to who knows what.

"Do you think that's safe? We wouldn't want to get caved in or anything," Dezani questioned, a bit hesitant to explore any further. He didn't want to put them in any unnecessary danger, especially when no one knew where they had been heading. He had told his father he was going to be traveling, but hadn't gone into too much detail about it all. He didn't want to explain to him that he was going around everywhere with a girl after all. Even if it was Araie. His father was sure to push the subject and he had not wanted to deal with it all. He'd simply wanted to get out an explore.

"Come on, aren't you the least bit tempted to see what could be back there? I'm not hearing any roaring or angry noises, so I don't think it's a beast of any sort. Besides, there could be lost treasure or a forgotten city or something down there. It'll be fun! And it doesn't seem like the sandstorm is going away any time soon. Listen." It was hard to hear, but the impossible to miss whistle of the strong winds could still be heard outside the slab of rock that protected the cave. If anything, it sounded like it had just gotten stronger than it was before. "If you're really worried about a cave in or mysterious dangers, we don't have to go far. We could just look around for a bit and see if it looks like there might be something interesting down there."

Dezani was most certainly not the adventuring sort. He would much rather play it safe and keep everything nice and under control rather than go on some wild chase to find lost treasure or a forgotten city. Living a little was simply not safe and would get them into far more danger than they were already in. He was sure of it. But if there was one thing he hated more than taking risks, it was disappointing the woman in front of him. Despite his better judgement, he knew that he had to agree to her excited request to explore. He'd rather risk life and limb as far as he was concerned than sadden her by not going along with her request.

"Okay, okay, lead the way oh fearless adventurer, " he chuckled, motioning for her to continue onward.
