Training was boring. Boring as dirt. Sparring was at least interesting, but sparring a wooden dummy was also boring as dirt. Otto found himself in need of a sparring partner, and after scanning Twitter as a distraction from actual work, he chose Peyton as his target. All this talk of family and cousins, it made it an easy choice. So he sent a quick text her way and waited. Beejoux Text to Pey: sup. bored and need to spar. can u come to the fields?

There was, of course, only one answer to that request. Peyton had sent a quick one letter response to let her cousin know she'd be down in a few minutes, and had hastily drawn the mass of curls that consisted of her hair back into a sloppy bun as she headed down the stairs and out the front door of the dorms. She had just finished tying the bun in place when she reached him, and she offered a wave before tucking her thumbs into the side loops of her shorts, hands resting on her hips. Hopefully whatever emotional baggage she'd been carrying when she'd faced off against Horace was now gone, and she'd be able to tap into her old mojo again. She at least felt lighter, given the measures she'd taken lately to promote self healing. "Hey Otto!, How's it going?"

"Goin' good. You?" Otto answered, pushing himself away from the post he'd been leaning on. He refrained from summoning his weapon right off the bat. He wasn't in any hurry.

"Ah," she paused before answering, wondering just how much she felt comfortably telling him, or how much he'd be comfortable knowing. "Had a rough few months, but things have been looking up lately." There, that seemed informative and still ambiguous. If Otto wants to know details he was certainly free to pry a little, but if he'd rather not, he could just leave it at that.

"That's good, I guess." Otto murmured back. Everyone he talked to seemed to be having rough patches. He supposed it came with the territory. Considering he'd been actively avoiding too much work and missions, he'd had a very uneventful past few months. He looked the woman over. She seemed well enough. Short as ever. He honestly felt like more of an adult standing so tall next to her, as if he was looking down at a child. That was a thought he kept to himself. Though he let his ego inflate a bit, as he rarely got to let himself believe he was tall. Because he really wasn't.Otto summoned Tenya, the weight of her still a bit foreign, as he'd only gotten back into practicing with her recently. "Maybe you can vent some of them bad times in the spar."

A small, almost sheepish smile lit up along glossed lips. "A little venting would probably do me a world of good." The last time she'd tried, when her mind had still been saturated with contradicting and persistent thoughts, she hadn't had a whole lot of luck. Now, having found some measure of control in her own life, maybe it'd go better. Tenya flashed into life, and Warrick followed a few seconds after. So much smaller by comparison, but no less deadly. "Age before beauty," she offered with a smirk. Wait, how old was Otto again?

Otto lifted a brow. It dawned on him that he wasn't sure which one of them was older. "Wait, how old are you?" He voiced aloud, winding up his arm and Tenya. He sort of didn't want to start first, in case he chose age accidentally. However, trying not to seem petty and vain, he threw one hit with Tenya. HP: 50 Damage: 0

She'd have to wait until Tenya had sliced through the air over her head, and returned to Otto, before answering. "21 this last November." To her knowledge, she was the 3rd youngest in what family they had on the island. Smiling up at him, the small Sun moved in to retaliate. Two sharp strikes, in quick succession, to whatever bits of her cousin happened to be the closest to her as she swung at him. HP: 60 DMG:10 CHG:1/3

"Oh. We're only a month apart." Otto mused after her answer. "I turned 21 in October last year." He tried to put his arms up to defend against her attack, his weapon being much too cumbersome to use as a shield at so close range. Her strikes were straight on, digging into his skin sharp, quick and deep. The pain was dulled thanks to Tenya, but it didn't make the blow feel any less powerful than it was. He lifted his leg and brought his foot sharply out into Peyton's ribs, pushing her away. In the same movement, Tenya was reeled back. Soon after the kick, Otto swung Tenya like a baseball bat clear into Peyton's shoulder. HP: 40 Damage: 8

A foot kicking into her ribs was an effective way to establish a little distance, and Otto was quick to put it to good use. Tenya whistled through the air, not as a projectile this time, but as a club, and she staggered as the boomerang collided with her shoulder. Warrick drank down the brunt of the damage, but but it had been a strong strike, and she was not exceptionally heavy. "Happy belated birthday, then," she'd manage to get out quickly, flashing a quick smile as she dug in the toe of her boot and set into motion again. Charging forward. It seemed whatever had been holding her back before was gone. Worries lifted, or heavy thoughts shoved aside. Peyton didn't seem to be having any trouble finding her stride here and now. Ducking, she darted around Tenya's long range to close in on her cousin on the opposite side, and there she'd strike, stabbing into his torso with both curved daggers. She was closing in fast. Otto attempted to strike her down as she approached. However, she ducked too swiftly, making him completely open to her attack. She struck hard, earning a sharp yelp from Otto. His sides burned with pain even as he kicked her away. The blonde resisted nursing the throbbing pain from his new wounds, wobbling back and away from his cousin. Shaking the spots from his eyes, he tried to strike just as quickly as he'd moved away, lest she gain back her advantage. He attacked with an upward arc. HP: 24 Damage: 7

The edge of Tenya caught her in the chin, knocking her head back with enough force to make her teeth click together. Most cousins bonded doing normal things, but there really wasn't anything normal about the relationship Peyton had with Otto. They had gone most of their lives not knowing about each other, and had only managed to connect the dots after a shared dreamscape had left them bread crumbs. It had only been a couple of years since the revelation had been found. For them, this was bonding. Or pretty close to it. They talked from time to time, but it was still a bit awkward. This was easier. "Still with Chance?" She liked her fellow Sun, he was a nice guy, good at his job, made her cousin happy. She thought they made a good couple. Pale eyes on the other Sun's weapon, Peyton moved in again, dodging around it so she could aim a quick jab at Otto's nearest shoulder. HP: 45 DMG: 6 CHG: 3/3

Sitting alone with Peyton always felt awkward somehow. He wasn't sure if it was them, or just him. Thankfully, during a spar, everything felt easier. Possibly because it was hard to feel awkward when he was too busy avoiding getting hurt to even think about it. Especially when questions regarding his love life came around. "I am." He affirmed as he took another hit. Dodging was impossible sometimes, but he could at least brace himself. He swept Tenya down, and locked the end behind Peyton's ankle as he slid backward sharply. "I think it's nearly been a year?" When had he and Chance agreed they were official? He'd never bothered to remember the date. Did that make him a bad boyfriend? Well, Chance wasn't a fussy nitpicker like most women tended to be. That had to be the best part of dating a guy, he supposed; bitchy-ness was blissfully lacking when it came to the finer points of romance. He could be as much of an a*****e as he wanted, and Chance just smiled and ruffled his hair. He smiled to himself thoughtlessly. He really lucked out with Chance. HP: 18 Damage: 5

Well that was good to hear. Otto deserved to be happy, after everything the poor guy had been through over the last...forever. If Chance made him happy, then Peyton definitely approved. Tenya was more diverse as a weapon than she had thought, and Otto wielded her expertly. Swinging her around, he went low, and instead of a sharp thwack, it was a sneaky hook around the back of her ankle, sending her flat on her back with a startled grunt as she hit the ground. Pretty sneaky, cuz. She didn't stay down for long, though. Bouncing back up on her feet, the tiny fighter moved in on the offensive again. Feinting to the left, she lunged to the right, going for Otto's left shoulder. HP: 40 DMG: 8 CHG: 3/3
