Painted Moose:
Hargitt didn't usually make his way into other settlements, but today was an exception. His Uncle had needed new boots, so here they were, trading out a days hard word for the necessary goods. While Yuuria was off haggling with merchants Hargitt clung to the edge of the little village, trying to make himself scarce with little success. He couldn't outright leave without acquiring the man's wrath, though neither could he stay near this many people without losing his mind.

So, naturally, Hargitt sat atop a large stone, one leg curled beneath him as his hands busily worked on preparing new arrows. A few of the village girls were peeping at him in what they thought was a secret place, just around a little hut, but he could hear their giggling from here.

"That's Yuuria's nephew? That grouchy old hunter? No way"

"Yessss! Isn't he handsome? I wonder if he's spoken for."

"As if he would go for a homebody like you, Minerva."

If any of the girls had bothered to ask him his sexual preference their gossip may have ended rather abruptly, but Hargitt let them go on. If anything it gave him something to smirk at.

Carrying a basket filled with different kinds of cloth at her hip, she was walking on her way home. Faamy had to make a few sets of clothes for her sister, who was quickly growing out of her current clothes. Darn kid was going through a growth spurt! She was focused on mentally sorting through what she was going to make, only belatedly looking up when she realized she was passing a huddled group of girls.

Ever curious, she walked up behind them for a listen, and peeked out from behind the hut at the object of their affection. Daaaaaaaaaaaang~ That was some hot stuff~ "Only one way to find out!" she cooed, walking straight up to the wild looking man.

As she got closer, the guy only got better looking. 'Oh, please be straight and open minded...' Sashaying up to the rock, her basket propped on a hip, she leaned against the rock with a grin and batted her lashes sweetly. "Hey there, stranger. The gals around here wanna know if you're spoken for."

A few of the girls stopped their chatter to look at Faamy, one looking as if she wanted to pull her back and stop her from talking to him, but too late!
Hargitt canted his head so he could look at the confidently plump girl coming his way. He didn’t recognize her from the original group, but then again she didn’t much act like them either. Soft, opalescent eyes widened at her openly promiscuous stance, and Hargitt not so subtly skootched an inch away from her. “I’m not.” This was what he was afraid of; what part of a wild, anti-social man did these girls find attractive? “Though the girls around here aren’t really my type.”

Brow rising as the man so obviously scooted away, Faamy's full lips pursed into a pout. "Well, well. I see..." She'd caught the emphasis on the word 'girls,' but she wasn't entirely sure if she was interpreting it correctly. Glancing back at the rather horrified girls, she grinned, gave them a playful thumbs up, and returned her focus to the man. At the least, it was fun seeing how shocked the giggling gals were. "Well, no point in beatin' 'round the cave then. What might your preference actually be?"

While he couldn’t see the other girls around her, since there was a bit of distance between them, he could hear their squeals. Was this their leader, then? Carefully he lowered his hands, resting his arrow against his well sculpted thigh. “Men.” And definitely not the openly aggressive type. He answered simply. It wasn’t hard to figure out why she wanted to know, though he preferred not jumping straight to think when talking to strangers. He would prefer not to talk to them at all. At least he could respect her up front and straight shooting attitude. “I take it that our preferences are the same?”

Meeting that straightforward gaze, Faamy took a moment to react. Sighing heavily, she pouted and leaned against the rock in a more relaxed manner. All she knew was that the girls could only see them leaning close. Surely it was driving them nuts.

"Well, that figures," she mused with a disappointed sigh. Still, she had to smile and chuckled lightly. "They're similar, at the least. A good lookin' guy like you? Definitely for me. A guy who is lookin' for another guy? Ehh, not so much." She winked playfully. "Happen to have a straight brother who's free?"

One corner of Hargitt’s mouth turned into a quirky little smile. “I have eight brothers. A few are too young, but go to Tind if you’d like to meet the rest.” Surely at least one of them would take a shine to her. She wasn’t unattractive, just not suited for him, and while her approach was a little strong, he was more than sure that his brothers could handle it. “Do you hunt for suitors often, or do you just pick on the ones that happen to pass by?” There was a bit of a joke in his tone, which was unusual for Hargitt. Maybe something about her was bringing out that lighter side to his personality.

Faamy's jaw went slack. Eight brothers?! How did they all stay fed? "Tind. I'll keep that in mind." If the brothers were as handsome as he, perhaps she'd have a bit of luck~

Her head cocked slightly, followed by a smirk and a laugh. Nice to know the guy had a sense of humor. "Well, if you haven't noticed, pickin's of fine beasts like you are slim 'round here. A girl has to keep her eyes open at all times." Inclining her head toward the gals watching, she sighed softly. "If you didn't come here for some lady attention, you came to the wrong place. Just for future reference." She straightened up to stop leaning on the rock, but kept her coy and playful posture. "Although, no one's going to complain if you come back 'round, either."

He hadn’t noticed, but Hargitt could take a guess. Most younger men his age were already locked down in the area, and the ones that were still single were that way likely because the landscape had scarred them in one way or the other. Hargitt wasn’t concerned with finding a partner, however, so he hadn’t paid much attention to what offers currently resided in the settlement.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he murmured, leaning forward just enough to look at the girls. As soon as he caught their eye they seemed to spasm and retreat further with a flurry of murmured giggles. It was like watching morackers scramble around a den.
Hargitt moved over on his ledge, not because he was trying to get away from her, but with a pat to the stone he motioned that she should sit. Surely it would be more comfortable than standing. “Are you a seamstress?” He made a motion to her basket.

Glancing at the group of girls, Faamy couldn't help rolling her eyes a little. She was not the 'stand to the side and stare' type, and had never understood those who were.

Seeing the space clear, she gave the man an appreciative nod, setting her basket down before hopping up to join him. Seamstress? Oh. "Only when I need to be," she said with a smile. "I'm actually a musician! Gonna be a minstrel one day. I sing, dance, and play whatever instrument I can get my hands on. I perform at the local inn for now, but I been spreadin' my wings a little." She gave a little dismissive wave of her hand. "Also work on my family's sail scale ranch, but that's nothin' special. Just passin' time until I get better. The cloth is for new clothes for my sister. She's growin' fast, the bugger."

She cocked her head to peek at the arrows he'd been working on. "That your job, there?"

A musician? Hargitt arched his brow at that. He knew his parents would have called her out for having such a useless profession in a land that demanded hard, earnest work, but he wasn’t the type. “Are you very good at what you do? The performing?” He may have to find a way to see her before his Uncle decided to leave. Yuuria’s moods changed with the winds, however, so Hargitt knew his chances were slim. “Sailscales, hmm? My family is in the business of capramel.”
At least he understood her dream of having something ‘more’. Hargitt lifted his arrow, and twisted it in the light. “Aye. I hunt with my Uncle while my family tends to the herd.” It hadn’t been necessary when he was young; more like a useful hobby to keep his mind on track, but now with the family expanding Hargitt was needed more than ever.

Brow rising, Faamy's lips spread into a grin of the utmost confidence. "I most certainly am! I get tips from people after I'm done on stage, you know? Was able to buy my mum and sister dessert a few nights ago with what I got! ..Helps when you love what you do. Others can see it in your work."

Faamy reached over to pluck up an arrow for a closer look. ..Not that she really knew what she was looking at, but it was still interesting. "I imagine you hunt a lot, then. Eight brothers, at least one uncle, yourself..." Blue eyes lighting up, she laughed and shook her head. "Me and my manners! Speaking of 'yourself,' what do you go by? My name's Faamy."

He supposed that made sense. In her line of work, it would be important for her to show her emotions, even if he couldn’t wrap his mind around it.
“Eight brothers, my uncle, my parents and the extras we trade with the settlement.” Most of his time was spent on the road with his Uncle, which was exactly as pleasant as it sounded. He would much rather have been able to spend more time with his brothers, but he was better off seeing to their needs than coddling them. Giving a little, tiny, almost non-existent welcoming smile he answered, “Hargitt. The name’s Hargitt.” Looking back to her basket, he asked, “How many sisters do you have?”
PostPosted: Mon Apr 11, 2016 12:19 pm

The very idea of so many people in a family was mind-boggling to the mucisian. "That's a lot to keep track of. Good on you, takin' care of them all." Faamy set the arrow back down and nodded. "Hargitt. Nice." Was that a smile? It might have been! Maybe? "Ah, just the one. There woulda been more, most likely.. but our da died not long after Syssa was born, and mum never found anyone else to make her happy like he did."

He resisted the urge to snort at her. She spoke as if he had a choice in whether or not to take care of his family. If Hargitt had half a mind he wouldn’t be anywhere near his Uncle, but duty came before passion. He’d learned that the hard way.
“I am sorry to hear about your father. It must be hard to support yourselves after his loss.” One mother and two daughters? Hargitt could only imagine the struggles placed upon them. It would be advantageous for Faamy to marry wealthy, though he wasn’t sure she would find such a match in Sauti. Perhaps if she could woo some iceling? “You should wear brighter clothing. It would be easier to find a partner that way. Violet, maybe, to offset your eyes.”
