Hellbine - so named because he was thoroughly attached to Jeremiah's face - was curled up on his shoulder in a small ball snoozing while he was finishing up the last bit of dinner. The detective was still without his memory, those days securely locked away from him, and any thought to try and poke at them lead to a headache. Thinking about Sunny lead to an uncomfortable sinking feeling in his gut as well but he had yet to even think about going to see her. He turned off the stove, glancing towards the clock that hung on the wall. Every night he had kept the other man with him, not the least bit guilty about it. If anything he was a little shameless about wanting Algie to stay with him. Not that they had talked about anything yet. Except that they were definitely going to have to talk about the fact there was a kitten - an otherkitten - that was going to be staying with them. Them. That put a smile on his face as he was setting the table.

Algie wasn't one for surprises but figured there wouldn't be much of a problem showing up to Jeremiah's with his new kitten. Autumn had implied she'd talked to the other man so perhaps he already knew. Violetta had a knack for finding some part of him to drape across and she was ridiculously long for her age so she was like a living breathing muff or some kitten version of a airline neck pillow. He made sure to bring a small thing of litter and food in a bag so they weren't entirely unprepared. "Jeremiah?" Algie let himself in. "I've got a- uh- bit of a surprise." He peered into the living room, nothing, and immediately turned for the kitchen with his new stylish living fur necklace with a small violet behind both ears.

There was already cat food and a litter box, a hold over from Mogget. Jeremiah was prepared for a kitten before Autumn had even brought one. "Kitchen!" he called out when Algie. Jeremiah was in the process of moving things to the dining room so they could have dinner. The mentioning of a surprise had him turning on a heel, leaning out of the doorway to look towards the other man. Surprises, with everything going on, could be very bad. "What kind of surpr-" he stopped, mid-word and noticed the living neck warmer that was another kitten. It had him raising a hand to press against Hellbine who just mrr'd at him sleepily. He was only waking up for food or for interesting things. The flower behind the kitten's ears were a giveaway. "Autumn gave you a kitten too?" Terribly amused as he moved his hand away from the small ball of fluff that was on his shoulder, trying to worm it's way under his collar and into his shirt.

Algie blinked, "Apparently Zac steered her in my direction... and yours it looks like." The kitten was lifted from around his neck and she was a bit like a long furry noodle and didn't move or struggle as he held her up. "This is Violetta."

"I apparently talked to her about it?" That entire bit of time he was forgetting he had talked himself to a kitten. Not that he was really complaining. Jeremiah had, when they were younger, been almost as bad as Algie when it had come to taking care of cats. Hellbine, who fit into his hand, was scooped up and held out. "Hellbine," mostly because of the face clinging, but also because it did look like the mohawk that was not quite yet blooming looked a little bit like dodder vines, "but I imagine they already know each other." Jeremiah came close, looking over the noodley kitten with an amused look. "She looks relaxed. This one was a bit bitey until he decided it was nap time." Except in his hand, Hellbine was waking up and eyeballing fingers again. Blue-green eyes raised to Algie's and he got a particular smile on his face. One of those looks he usually got before he teased the other but was biding his time. "I've still got left overs from Mogget, but you can put those in the pantry if you want." The supplies he had brought. "I was getting dinner laid out."

"Hellbine.." Algie moved forward to rub his finger over the tiny kitten's head, "You come up with that?" Violetta was put on a spare kitchen chair where she simply draped until she realized it wasn't nearly as warm as shoulders and woke up to stretch and yawn like a halloween cat and then stare at her brother. It seemed to be a 'what are you doing here' sort of look. "I'll admit I didn't exactly get to pick a name. It was chosen for me... though.. possibly by me? I'm not sure how it works.." Algie was rubbing his neck free of any stray cat hair and then going to stash the cat supplies.

"... yes," Jeremiah replied slowly, before adding, "but not entirely. It's another name for Dodder which is a ..." He chuckled. "It clings to other plants, let's leave it at that." Not going to push his luck with having named a kitten after a parasitic plant-vine-flower. Since they were siblings, Hellbine was set with Violetta. The small kitten just pushed up against her before settling. Look, don't question when mom is like this is your new home, okay. Jeremiah stepped close to Algie, plucking a few stray cat hairs from the other man's collar. His own he would fix back in a moment, since the kitten had pushed and pulled at it. "What do you even mean by that?" Algie was given a stare, the silver-haired man going to get glasses for their drinks. Still not exactly comfortable with the idea that was forming. That they had been at this already.

Alg reached to fix Jeremiah's collar while he was standing there, folding everything properly and smoothing the layers into place before he leaned to steal a small kiss of greeting. Violetta curled around her smaller brother and began to lick his head. "I mean that-" The professor sighed and took his glasses off a moment to rub his eyes when Jeremiah moved for drinks, "-well besides the fact that I seem to have a knack of having just the right reference material at my fingertips when I need it-" His hands were held up momentarily, because he had no explanation, "-that I happened to have on hand a book on magical cats when Autumn asked for it. And it was a journal. Written by Autumn. With all the details of the cats in it."

Algie beat Jeremiah to it, something fluttering pleasantly in his stomach at the collar being fixed and the kiss. Hellbine made a slight noise of discontent kitten before he merely gave in to the grooming. Not that it helped that Jeremiah's hand did not so much as settled on Violetta's head for a scritch versus his own before the man moved away. "... sounds like you've got another talent," Jeremiah chuckled quietly but it faded when he saw the look on the other man's face and with what was said. The glasses he had picked up were set down, a hand rubbing at the side of his neck and then smoothing along his jaw. "That ..." He took a breath, turned to the fridge and pulled out the beers that he had gotten for dinner. "As much as I'm sure having that info at hand, I don't know if I like the implications of that?"

Algie flicked his hand a bit, as if to say 'it is what it is', "Autumn was certainly bothered by it.. But she took it. And somehow it found it's way to me to get to her." He put his glasses back and and came over to inspect the beer. He didn't seem as grossly bothered by the implication. If somehow, someway, it were true than it meant things like destiny were true... It didn't seem like they all had much of a choice. "Remind me, I'll bring what beer I've got from home." If he was here every night it was pretty much going to waste. azuredreams destiny.. whatever. beer is good.

Jeremiah was tempted to stick his tongue out at Algie. Especially at the it is what it is flick of his hand. "I can understand why she would be bothered by it. I still don't like it myself." The beers were pushed into Algie's hand, the taller man leaning for a kiss before going for the glasses. "I picked the beer up from Darlene's. That one brew that Borr does we like." He was heading back towards the table, as food was already laid out. "... may have also restocked up on what we've drank over the past few days." Algie was fixed with a look. "Including a bottle of what you like."

"It could be valuable to us.." Algie posited, taking the bottles and opening them. He could actually do it with his bare hands if you got him half-loaded, "To find out what.. other versions of ourselves may have done. If that's what this is..? Perhaps learn mistakes that were made?" He poured them each a glass and set the bottles beside them. At mention of his own preferred liquor he glanced over his glasses and smirked, "Are you buttering me up for something?"

"I suppose when you look at it that way, yes, it is very helpful." Jeremiah was actually pulling the chair out for Algie to sit, like the perfect gentleman he wasn't. "On the other hand, if it is actual confirmation? That is what I have mixed feelings about. You know I've never liked feeling as if I'm meant to do something." Neither had Algie but he had always been more lenient with it. Which was odd if only because Jeremiah adapted easily to change but did not like this prospect and Algie was the opposite of him. He checked on the two kittens in the chair before sitting himself next to Algie. "I have no idea what you're talking about," Jeremiah replied, lips twitched up into a mischievous smile.

"You just have to think about it the right way." Alg was definitely suspicious of the overly gentlemanly behavior. Jeremiah always had manners of course, Alg wouldn't have spent any time with him if he didn't, but the mischievous smiles were hardly helping his concerns. "It's you.. but not you. A different life, different decisions, different times. Heliodora and the others always choose to go to the otherworld.. but I suppose it always leaves the possibility that they don't." Alg put his napkin in his lap, "Wait what are we eating I didn't ask..?" Two cat faces were sniffing up along the table edge from their chair as well, ears flicking as two sets of blue eyes scoped out for anything that they could steal.

"Yet they always do and they're going to fail eventually." Jeremiah was thinking about it that way, the way that Algie outlined, but he still was not entirely enthused. "Even if it's a different me and we walk a different path ..." A hand was waved in the air before he was opening up dishes and portioning out dinner. "When the burning man seems to know me, has known me, after who knows how many years, I get a little concerned that I'm right on the same path. Clearly I have not learned a damn thing." He sighed and shook his head with a small smile. "Toad in the hole, Alg." Something Lucille use to make for them when he came over. Mostly because he could never convince anyone at his own home to have it. A finger was pointed sternly towards the eyes and ears he saw. "You two have your own snack after dinner. Don't think about it.." They were magical otherkittens. They probably could understand him.
