User ImageSerael had a habit of sticking to herself. She would hang around her family, though that was mostly just a formality. Lord Majanga, her adoptive father, had insisted that they be raised closely together. She followed orders, spending time training and playing with them. As they grew older though, she had found it easier to avoid her siblings. They did their missions and she did hers. If they happened to be on the same mission, then she didn't mind working with them, but it wasn't her preference.

However, she had been lucky enough to avoid working with anyone outside her family. Even during training she kept her distance, never getting too close or too friendly. Instead she liked watching others train, admiring their techniques and thinking about how she could improve her own skills.

She knew that this way of training would only get her so far. What she needed was some personal training with Lord Majanga's hand, Ruyken. He was a skilled sith and she knew that she could learn much from him.

Serael made her way to the training grounds and looked around for Ruyken.

The big leopard was rarely seen during the day, prefering night time for his various activities when he was within thepride's boarders, and when he was withuot? Well, he wasn't there anyway. He wasn't nocturnal, he just prefered to avoid people. And there were less people skulking around the pride in the darkness than during the day.

The black and red assassin lay some distance from the training ground, though was keeping a close eye on the goings on there. He did, after all, have duties that required his attention and no matter his personal preferance, he carried out his duties with a focus and intent that was often scary, especially to any student he had. Lumiya had been training with him since she was very young but was currently out on a mission of her own. A fine warrior, she held ambition far beyond his. Not that he cared, he obeyed Majanga as the Lord of the Sith, the goals of the lion's offspring were none of his business.

Flicking an ear he turned long before Serael was within sight or sound of him. So when she eventually caught sight of him, he was already staring directly at her. He didn't budge though, but simply lay in his shadow and waited for her to approch. Many of the pride gave the leopard a wide birth, he wasn't known for his generousity after all.

When she saw him already looking at her she felt a shiver go down her spine. This was the closest she had even been to the leopard. She cleared her throat and walked toward him. When she stood before him, she bowed her head to him.

“Hello Ruyken,” she said quietly. Then she stood up straight, looking into Ruyken's eyes. She remained still, with a blank expression. He was intimidating, especially when she was this close to him. She could not show fear though. Lord Majanga had raised her and her siblings to be the ideal sith. She could not fail him.

“I would like you to train me.” She said bluntly. “I need to improve my skills if I am to be any use to the sith.”

As the lioness strode up to him, the great leopard merely sat impassively, watching her. His eerie fire-hued eyes were unblinking and intense, as if he were seeing not only her flesh and blood, but into her as well, judging her, assessing her.

At her request, the male slowly and deliberately looked her over. But it wasn't a leer, or even personal. It was cold and unfeeling, as if he were looking over any warrior that proclaimed itself worthy of his training. Eventually he met her steady gaze again. Bluntly he said. "Kill me." And then simply stayed still, laying in his shadow in that deceptively relaxed pose. But if one looked very, very closely, there was a readiness in the black and red leopard that belied his apparent restfulness.

His words echoed in her head. He was testing her, she thought. Even at her best, she knew that she couldn't kill the leopard. And even if she tried her best, it would involve stalking and spying, taking notes of his every movement. She didn't have time for that. Her eyes scanned over the leopard, to see if she could spot any recent wounds that she could strike at or anything else that could give her an advantage.

“Alright,” her voice was quiet, but with a hint of confidence. She stepped back, giving herself plenty of room. Her claws were already extended out. If she had to fight, she would at least try to make an interesting fight for the leopard. With her legs bent, she pushed off the ground, lunging toward the leopard.

The leopard wasn't there when she landed. He hadn't appeared to move, he had simply moved. First in one place, then suddenly he was simply somewhere else. He sat behind her, several paces away. His tail curled over the ground flicking sharply, the only movement the male made as otherwise he might have been made of the same rock as the landscape around them. His fiery gaze remained on her, flat and cold.

"I said, kill me." He repeated, his voice as dead as his eyes, there was no anger in his tone, but no impatience either. It was a hint into par of why he made such a remarkable teacher, he simply didn't get upset. The Lady Lumiya had certainly failed frequently and bore the scars of the leopard's rebukes as proof, yet he had never lashed out at her in anger, his attacks instead calculated to teach her not to make mistakes.

It would be the same for the sister too.

When she landed on nothing, she let out a low growl. Not at Ruyken but at herself. 'I need to be faster, stronger.' she thought as she turned around quickly to face the leopard. 'I cannot be weak. I have to be the best.'

Her eyes narrowed at him as she stepped forward. She remained concentrated on Ruyken and him alone. Her thoughts on her family and missions vanished. Right now those things were not important. The only thing that mattered was killing Ruyken.

Serael got into the crouching position again and leaped toward him. This time she was aiming at his throat. She kept her eyes close on him, so in case he moved again, she could go straight at him again, without giving him a break.

Once again, when she attacked, the leopard simply wasn't where he had been sitting a moment ago. This time, when she looked up, he was stood up on a flat topped rock to the side of her. His tail was curled high, ears back. Red eyes flashed.

"Stop trying to kill me and kill me." He demanded, voice sharp. Yet before she could even move a paw he jumped down, scowling at her. "Trying won't get you anywhere. Stop thinking about it." He moved then, so fast that it was impossible to follow his action from so close, but a second later her cheek stung sharply, raked by unseen claws.

Ruyken was once again behind her, back where he had started. Watching her with that eerily calm, detached expression. If she had thought his lessons would be verbal, she had been badly mistaken. Ruyken trained others the same way he himself had been trained. By doing.

Serael felt the sting on her cheek and the feeling of warm blood trickling down her cheek. He wasn't playing around, she thought. She knew that he could have made a much worse injury, though. When she landed, she took a little time to consider his words but instead turned toward him again. Her crimson eyes filled with determination.

Though frustrated, Serael stayed focus. She had to admit, that the challenge before her had been interesting, to say the least.

For a third time, she bent down, looking like she was going to attack. Before she did so, she whipped her tail and back paw against the ground bringing up a cloud of dirt toward Ruyken. Then with all her strength she leaped toward him, her claws barred going in for the kill.

He gave a low growl as she kicked dirt, tail flicking back and forth even as he once again disappeared from sight. As she lept through her own dust screen, the red and black male rammed into her from the side, sending her flying. He had once again moved with the freaky speed he seemed to possess, flanking her and counter attacking in an instant. As she slid to a stop he already stood over her, fangs bared an inch from her eye. His hot breath gusted over her torn cheek as he snarled, a low and savage sound.

"Stop thinking." He demanded. The growl making his tone rumble low and hard. "You give everything away before you even start. Don't think. Act." He moved away once more, appearing several yards away and watching her intently, glimmering eyes narrowed.

"Come again."

Serael stared him down. She could not back down now. Her body moved to face him. Before she could think of the best strategy, she went to attack, letting her instincts take over. Her claws were still out ready to rip apart anything she touched.

She began her attack by darting to Ruyken's left side and jumping up. Furiously, she took a few swipes at him, hoping at least one of her attacks hit. She landed on the other side of him, but quickly turned around to strike again. As she attacked, she let out loud snarls, filled with brutish anger.

The dark leopard easily avoided her attacks, keeping just out of reach as she swipped, snarled and jumped at him. Each time he watched how she moved, how she attacked, noting her flaws and mistakes. She was almost as raw as her sister had been the first time Lumiya had come to him seeking to learn how to kill. This sibling would be the same, and he wouod train her the same way he had trained Lumiya. Ducking another wild swipe he casually backhanded Serael and sent her flying, breaking her attack and effectively forcing her to stop.

With her on the ground he proceeded to list everything she had done wrong, missing nothing, speaking bluntly without regard for her feelings. She would never improve if he coddled her, the only way to correct her mistakes was for her to acknowledge them and work on them. That would happen over time, but for now he had to break her down, reveal every single weakness and force her to accept them. Only once she had done that, when she was utterly without pride, self-deception or false courage. Then and only then, could he build her back up, train her into the perfect fighter, the perfect murderer...

Standing back to let her regain her feet once more he lowered his head into a ready position.

"Again."
