»Lucius was currently on break, or at least a break he choose for himself. That was the fun part of having a "nerdy" job. You could do almost anything as long as it doesn't endanger others or waste expensive supplies, and get away with it. This was because how many replacements could you actually get for a job like this? Not that many. In all fairness he did to most of his work and still had stuff he wanted to look at, but micropipetting was the bane of his very existence. You could get used to it all you wanted to but it was still annoying.
But now? He had found himself spending his "break" with one of the military dogs. Not even someone like the General, but instead the Staff Sergeant. Well not to say that this couldn't be interesting. The guy looked like quite the character if his own. Lucius knew some of the military, though mostly by their titles and faces. As for names? He was at a loss.So, who was this guy again?
Lucius pursed his lips, trying to remember as he stared the guy in front of him down.Nope it wasn't happening"Who are you?"
☰ Tyrone had a day off from work, luckily, by what he had heard went on today. Apparently Leon had flipped the table again and he was glad he didn't have to clean that up. Instead he was spending time with his buddy Lucius, who seemed generally unhappy all the time. He definitely had something for that, but he wasn't sure how well Lucius liked him or cheese. Offering people cheese obviously got weird if they didn't know he was a tyromancer. Or a cheese mage as his mom called it.
Tyrone looked up from his smoothie when Lucius spoke to him, smiling for a second before it fell. "Come on Lulu it's been like three times I've told you my name," he said, only a little offended by that. Some people were really bad at names, he couldn't hold that against him. "It's Tyrone. Or Ty, for short." He winked after that, taking a sip of his smoothie. It was nice and fruity.

»Lucius stared at Tyrone for a moment, processing the name. It wasn't that he was bad at names or anything, he just never talked to that many in the military all that often to remember. Even then It was simpler to remember who was what rank instead because the were often referred to by their rank. At least from what he's heard. "Right, sorry. There are too damn many of you to keep up with- and that's without the mercenaries."He grumbled, picking up the fork and poking at the cake before him before cutting a small slice from it.
Okay, but also what was that wink for?Alright. For now he ignored it and scooped up the slice he had previously cut away, after taking a bit from it he left the fork in his mouth for a moment. Why were they hanging out again? As far as he knew they weren't really friend or anything. Maybe a small passing conversation here and there but nothing more.
Putting the fork down he looked up at Ty, trying to figure out some kind of conversation with the guy. The go to seemed to be small talk if anything. "Sooo....Hows the drink?" That should do it to get some kind of conversation going. Or at least one that wasn't about cheese. That was this guy right? There was another guy who looked like he would be into cheese.
☰ To be honest, Tyrone also couldn't remember why they were hanging out. They didn't have a lot in common, or much to talk about, it seems. Well, there had to be something to fix that. Tyrone chuckled, nodding to Lucius' sentiment. "It's the military, I mean we can't really afford to be understaffed. Besides, it's better have mercs with us rather than with someone else, right?" he said, trying to stimulate a conversation. "Two of them do some amazing stuff with androids. They're scarily accurate," he rambled, taking another sip before pausing. "Or, one of them now, I guess."
Upon Lucius questioning his smoothie, Ty took another sip of it, pretending to consider the taste. It really wasn't hard to judge whether or not a smoothie was good. "It's nice. Supposed to be healthy for you, full of amino acids and stuff. Docs told me to lay off the cheeses and try some diet diversity," he said, frowning at the end and putting finger quotes around 'diet diversity.' Really he had just been looking for answers about certain things in his various cheeses recently. He had a couple visions written down that he just couldn't decipher yet. "Hows your cake? Is it treatin' you right?" He asked, grinning.

»Lucius went back to picking at the cake as he listened to Ty. He paused for a moment and kept mixing the icing around."Perhaps you should consider being understaffed. Why is it that you think you are stuck in Zlido? Because the people don't take kindly to you." he said plainly now picking at the fruit and scooting them around the plate, resting his cheek on his free hand."So i've heard.If they can do that s**t here makes me wonder about whats going on in Drowwood."Lucius mumbled, though he perked up slightly having heard that only one of them was there. Was it normal for mercenaries to be gone?"What do you mean one of them now? Don't they go out and do your dirty work anyway?"He wasn't surprised that this was the first he's heard of it, he wasn't part of the military after all. Just worked with them through a series of orders and questions, via e-mail and paper work. Only sometimes was he actually in that building talking to one of them.
Listening more as the other spoke, Lucius gave Ty a once over."Yes." Was all he said in response. Can't live off only on cheese. Now the cheese man had two science opinions on this."I don't usually eat sweets, so its okay I guess."He said with a small shrug.
☰ The amount of attention Tyrone just gained from mentioning that someone had gone missing was... kind of alarming. It wasn't enough to bother him, usually people were just curious about that stuff. The hostility towards the military was something that upset him as well, but it wasn't like Lucius was wrong. "Yeah, you don't have to tell me twice. I wont try to defend them, either," he huffed. Corruption was bad, no matter what. "Drowwood is putting out some amazing stuff, but recently anything in the android industry has slowed, for obvious reasons." The gang, despite everything, was making headway. Tryone had to consider how much to tell Lucius. He didn't want rumors to be spread, but... Well, he could give him the basics without the details. "One of them went AWOL. That's really the only solid Intel I have," He replied quietly, Though one of his visions was definitely related to Keenan.
He nodded about the cake, and tilted his smoothie in Lucius' direction. "Want a sip? It'll be some sour to balance out the sweet." Tyrone grinned again, raising one eyebrow to accent it.

»"Oooo~ We have ourselves a self aware one."Lucius said, leaning slight forward on the table as he spoke with a small grin. He did have to wonder, what amount of justification did it take for each member to fall asleep at night, knowing what they do and their history."People are dangerous too, but people are still making people. I don't see how that problem changes anything. Give them what they want and the problem is gone."Of course it was never that easy. But somewhere along the line everyone wanted to believe that at some point or another. If only they could clean the slate and start all over. For everyone."Good on them,"he replied plainly.
He looked at the drink for a moment before taking it and trying it. Then with a small frown he pushed the disfigured cake over to Tyrone, keeping the drink.
☰ Tyrone chuckled and shook his head. How condescending. Again, he couldn't really blame Lucius. Some people in there followed orders to the T, no questions asked. He almost wondered if they just didn't know, or were in denial about it. Either way, it didn't help to solve the problem that they had. "You know as well as I do that it isn't that easy. I mean, if it were my choice they wouldn't even have to fight for it. It's just kind like a thing I think they should have," he said. Moving off of that subject though, Tyrone rolled his eyes. "Bad on his brother, though," he added. Kieran probably was out of his mind about this, even if he was trying to hide it.
When Ty said a sip, he meant a sip. Not a swap. "Hey, man, that's not what I meant! I said a sip," He complained, staring at the defiled cake in front of him. It was like someone ran over it. He frowned at Lucius, reaching over to try and retrieve his drink. "I don't want your massacred cake, I want my smoothie." He did, however, shovel some of the poor pastry into his mouth as compensation. It really wasn't that bad.

»Lucius shrugged, he knew damn well it wasn't that easy. If it were he'd still be living in Reim. But no. He wasn't. ******** off. Before running wild with his emotions and giving way to the fact he was a demon who empathized with the androids, he just let out a heavy sigh. There were fighting a different fight. That wasn't him or the demons. But the overlaying problem still existed in some way. "Should have left with him, then."He snorted. It would be better if he stayed in his lane, but that was something he was never really good at anyway.
"Mmmno!"He leaned away and swatted at Ty's hand as he tried to get his drink back. Though Lucius refused to let him. "Yes you do. That cake is so much better."Says the guy who pretty much refused to eat it.
☰ This man. Honestly he'd never seen someone looking to troubled about something. It was a little concerning, but best not to bring it up. They both generally seemed to agree, but something told Tyrone that this was running deeper into Lucius' past than he was permitted to go. They've only hung out a couple times now, after all. Not really "bff" status, but Tyrone was sure they'd get there. "Hey, chin up. You're looking pretty stormy there.." For all intents and purposes of keeping the peace, he ignored his comment about Kieran. He wasn't sure that Lucius understood that Keenan jut kind of vanished without a trace, and there was no reason to explain. Plus he'd probably be a d**k about it no matter what. To each their own, and all that jazz. "Besides," he spoke on hushed tones, looking excited about some kind of secret that only he had, though it was nothing more than a feeling. "I feel like something is gonna happen that'll bring people together. Something big."
"Um. Dude! You smushed it up into pieces and took like a milligram of a bite!" He said, sitting back in his chair and pointing at the mess on the plate that used to be a really pretty cake."I'm pretty sure my smoothie you're sipping is better." There was no getting it back without a mess, though, and Tyrone could just buy another. With a huff and a pout he shoveled the rest of the cake and fruit into his mouth. "I bet you're one of those people who eat sandwiches one ingredient at a time."

»Lucius frowned at Tyrone, not all to pleased with being told 'chin up'. What was that going to do? Look at the sky instead of the ground? No mattered where you looked, you were going to the same place regardless.
Hearing his next comment, Lucius nearly choked on the drink, coughing in efforts to regain himself. Once he did, he looked up at Ty with a grin and a small fit of laughter building up."Ohh man, who in the actual ******** says that!?"He managed and shook his head, trying to calm down before he made to much of a scene. In all fairness there was some general s**t going on that was nothing new.Though he was aware of other things, but all that really depends. "This isn't- oh god, whats it called? Some good evil cliche or an anime! Like c'mon! You can seriously believe some big scary event will happen that makes everyone band together and fight for the greater good! We're people, Ty. People with problems in a crazy world. Yes anything can happen. But really? That of all things? No. Shut the ******** up." He laughed once more.
Not matter what Ty said, Lucius wasn't going to give back the drink. Besides the cake wasn't bad or anything. Just that he didn't normally eat sweets and the drink was better."Ick no! At that point it's not even a sandwich."
☰ First thing to note, this was the longest thing Lucius had said all day, and that meant progress for Tyrone. The second thing is that, wow, that man must be an academic type, because he read into that and pulled so much out of it. He was a really literal guy, most of what he said wasn't a metaphor Ty started chuckled covering his mouth when it turned into full blown laughter at Lucius. "Haha! Wow, dude! You read into that so hard." His words dissolved into laughter again he took a moment to calm down, giggles bubbling from his mouth as he added, "I'm not that cheesy." He said, pointing a finger gun in Lucius' direction and giggling at his own terrible pun.
"Good, you've got some redeeming qualities," Tyrone said, winking at him again. As a side note, this morning he had sent his new buddy Jonah a few texts, ones which never got a reply until just now. His phone buzzed with a few messages, and he checked it, taking a picture of Lucius and sending it. In total he sent Jonah:

Jonah replied with a flurry of texts which made him giggle more. Jonah really was funny, and he was so glad he managed to meet his friend Jin by chance.

"Since you stole my drink, I get every right to text," Tyrone said to Lucius, tapping away on his phone.

"Be right back, I'm going to get myself another smoothie," he said, getting up to place a quick order. While it was being made he sat back down and waited for Lucius to say something.

»Lucius rolled his eyes at Ty and shook his head. This guy. However, he did in fact realize he did read a bit into that, but not that he could help it. Call it a habit if anything, especially when he was moody like he was just a moment ago. Hearing the pun he practically slammed the drink down on the table and stared dead eyed at Ty. He wanted to die. "No." His soul was burning.
"Okay but, you were going to judge me on that, when all you basically eat is cheese? That's hardly fair."He said, hearing the other's phone buzz frantically. It didn't bother him until Ty took a picture of him. Which he looked relatively pissed off in. Mostly from the pun.
"Oh god, you're like a schoolgirl texting a crush."He joked as Tyrone took the time to respond to whoever it was. Like there were giggles and everything in that.
He just nodded as the other left to get another drink. When he came back Lucius looked at him with a small frown."Should have gotten a cake as well. Rinse and repeat."
☰ Tyrone only laughed harder that the complete, scorching glare he received from Lucius at his pun. Really, it was the only response he could ask for. When his eating habits were questioned, Ty leaned back and put a hand to his chest. "There are a lot of different Types of cheeses!" He then resumed looked at his phone, tensing up when he realized that Lucius was pretty much on the dot with texting a crush. "I- What? I just met him!" He said, waving his hand dismissively. The barista called his name for the smoothie and he got up, rolling his eyes at cake comment. One decimated pastry was good enough for him. It wasn't even a cheesecake, so what was the point?

While reading, Tyrone had to keep his poker face in check. No more school girl texts for him. "Hah, you just got owned," he commented to Lucius, tapping back quickly.

He put his phone on the table and looked at Lucius. "You know there are less sweet things to order here, right? Like muffins, or anything other than cake." It seemed like a poor decision on Lulu's part to just buy something he didn't plan on eating.
