Her mother had put her hair up for the day. Something that Akel wasn't exactly fond of. She thought her hair looked better down. With a frown creasing her brow she walked along toward the outter edge of the village. If she was lucky she could find another stick with which to hit things. She just felt so funny and off balance with her hair all tied up in a bun. What was worse is she couldn't get the tie to unknot itself to come out!
Huffing and puffing she hand one hand on her hair while the other tried and failed to release her dreads. Once she was finally fed up with it all she growled and kicked a nearby rock so that it went flying off in some direction or another. "Stupid hair tie!" Akel spat the words before she crossed her arms in front of her puffed out chest.

“Why do you want to take your hair out?” Kanika said as she stared down at the other youngling from her perch on the tree. She was currently in the process of climbing it to the top to see if she could do it. She’d made it quite far up before her legs and arms began to tire and she’d decided to take a short break. That was until she’d spotted the fussing Elaria and wondered what she was doing. Her own hair was always up and out of the way, it was better like that too. Less dangerous.
Tilting her head, Kanika leaned down a bit. “If you want to take it out I can help you, but it’s safer if it’s tied up. Can’t be grabbed in combat or get stuck anywhere.” She shrugged, it didn’t matter to her but she’d help the other out I she needed it. She was a sister and if she could help her she would.

When she heard the voice of another her arms unfolded and she looked from left to right. Akel didn't think to look up til the last moment. As she spotted a fellow daughter of Elzira in the tree she tilted her head to the side. "What are you doing in the tree?" Not that there was anything wrong with it but Akeldama hadn't seen her there. As the other girl gave reasons for having her hair up she frowned. Akel knew this. It was why a lot of the Alkidike had their hair up as well but her hair was short. "My hair isn't that long. I feel silly with it all pulled up like this." One hand went up to poke at the awkward looking bun that was practically at the top of her head.

“Climbing,” Kanika replied with a smirk. She wanted to see the rest of Yael from a high point and there was no better way of doing so than with a tree. “I wanted to see Yael and the ocean.” It was also a good way for her to build some of her muscles as she worked her way up the tree. There was also some balance involved and stamina in case she had to hold on to something for a little while.
Climbing down the branch, Kanika made her way down closer to the ground only pausing once she’d reached the very last branch closes to the other Elaria.
“Well, I can always undo it for you, but you never know what it might snag on.” Kanika shrugged, leaning on the branch with her forearms tucked under her chin and swinging her legs. “You want to come climb with me?” Activities were always better in pairs and her twin was nowhere to be found today. She was always doing stuff with her, so it was probably best if she started making friends with some of the other Elaria in the camp. Sisters she could trust to go on hunting parties and such when she was older.

So the girl wanted to see Yael. Well that was weird. The ocean was a different story. Akel shrugged her shoulders and moved closer to where the other Elaria had climbed down to. "Just untie it for me, okay?" For now that was all she wanted. However, the offer to climb the tree with this sister had her tilting her head back so that she could look up at her. "Hmn?" Her eyes went toward the tree as she debated. Normally she wouldn't engage in such actions without Tos. Since it seemed like Tos was otherwise occupied with other things she might as well have another friend or something to play with. "Sure." A grin quickly spread across her face. It could be fun to play in the tree with this Elaria. "Do you think we can see the ocean in this tree?" Mostly she wanted to know if this was the tallest one.

“Okay,” twisting off the branch Kanika held on to the branch with her legs so she was dangling from it upside down. It was low enough so that she could reach the other girls hair. “I’m Kanika by the way, what’s your name?” Reaching, Kanika gently tugged the hair band out and then extended it to the girl. “There you go all done.” Once the hair band had been handed back to her, Kanika pulled herself back up onto her branch and laid across it once more.
“Maybe,” the Elaria said slowly looking up the judge the tree. “It’s not the highest that’s for sure.” It was the tallest one around them; Kanika couldn’t stray too far from the camp. “But I imagine we’d be able to see the ocean better from like a tree on a mountain.” Or at least one of the taller regions of Yael. She was curious about the Ocean but did want to explore Yael much more and perhaps the main land her mother had spoken about once. Though Zandala usually kept quiet about that place, or avoided questions altogether. Kanika wondered why, perhaps she’d ask Lumikani, her other mother might be a bit more forthcoming with information.

"Thanks." With her hair no longer tied up she smiled. Akel's hair didn't even reach her little shoulders. Taking the tie from Kanika she tucked it into her shorts then gave her attention to the girl. "I'm Akel." The Elaria only gave her nickname, since she wasn't overly fond of her whole name. She liked the meaning it held but there was just something about the sound of it that made it a bit too much for her. Her eyes followed Kanika's to the top of the tree before she started her ascent to the lowest branch. Surprisingly she was good at climbing. When she reached the branch that the other girl was on she smiled. "When you find a mountain in the village, let me know." It was a jest to the fact that they weren't really allowed to leave their little town.

“Nice to meet ya,” Kanika shifted her position on the branch so that both of her legs were on either side of it giving Akel plenty of room to climb on whenever she decided to unless she declined. Which was no fun, Zayana was probably somewhere with Lumikani though and Zandala was off practicing her bow. She could have been with either one of her mothers but climbing and fooling around was so much better. They were always learning things sometimes a bit of rest was nice, though that was something she wouldn’t be caught dead telling either of her mothers.
Kanika chuckled at the joke. “Hopefully one day, I want to see all of Yael and the world.” If her mothers had their way she wouldn’t be going anywhere, but one day she would be old enough and she would be strong enough and they wouldn’t be able to hold her back.
“What about you? Want to see the rest of the world?” Pulling herself up, Kanika grabbed onto the next branch above them and pulled herself up onto it. Here she waited for Akel so that they weren’t shaking up the tree.

She followed the girl up to the next branch, making sure her footing was right before putting weight on it. Akel gave a thoughtful look before she nodded her head. "Yeah. I want to see what my mother talks about all the time." Mostly she wanted to go to the land of the Alkidikes. She wanted to see Elzira's mother, Aisha. It was a concept that was the most interesting to her. "My mother talks about a bloom from Aisha, so I want to get her one." Akeldama gave a smile to Kanika. Of course she'd have to train and become strong so she could leave the village and make the trip back to the mainlands. It was a ways off, that was for sure.

“At least your mother talks about it, one of mine completely ignores it while the other does talk about it from time to time.” Her mothers were such opposites. Zandala had completely cut off her ties with her old life and the main land while Lumikani had taught them about Aisha. Kanika didn’t really understand the whole idea of Aisha, but knew she’d come first before Elzira. Though it was Elzira that gave birth to the Elaria not Aisha.
“Does Elzira not give her a bloom?” That was strange; she’d never known any of the Akidikes here to ever want a bloom from Aisha. Perhaps Elzira would not give her another, it made her wonder why. Kanika made her way to another branch, making sure she was settled on it properly before Akel climbed on. Thankfully the branches were thick enough even to the top to support both of their tiny weights. “How old are you?” It was the first question that had popped in her mind.

A nod came from her as Kanika basically said she was lucky to hear about it. Akeldama knew it was only because her mother wanted to return and take over like they were meant to do. "Oh, she hasn't asked Elzira yet. She says that she asked Aisha for a bloom before they were exiled." Whatever that meant. If it meant that Akel had an Alkidike sibling out there then she wanted to return her to her mother. As she moved on up she looked down and grinned. Sure, they weren't that high up just yet but they were getting there and it was exciting! It was always like that for Akel when she climbed trees. "Seven?" She tilted her head as she tried to remember the count in her age. It wasn't something she really kept track of since her mother told her that she wouldn't come of age until she was trained fully. Mostly she measure her age by her status. For now she was a beginner. Next she would be an apprentice.

“Oh, so that means she was raised by those cousins. Hey you’re like me you have a sister too!” Not a twin like Zayana was, but it was a sibling none the less. “How will you find her?” Perhaps the cousins on the main land hadn’t told this bloom that her mother had been exiled. That was sad to Kanika, everyone ought to know who their mothers were. “I hope you find her.” She said definitively.
“Seven…” Kanika tried to remember what her mothers had taught her about numbers. Akel was a little older then her, or so she thought at least. Stretching, Kanika kept on climbing and climbing always making sure that Akel was still behind her and doing okay. At this height, things were dangerous if either one of them feel. Zandala was always promoting helping other sisters and so Kanika picked up that trait from her.

How was she going to find her? Akel blinked a few times. "I'm not sure." Though the idea of having a sister was interesting. Up until just then she thought she was the only child. It certainly gave her something to think about as she climbed after Kanika. What was this "sister" like? She was so busy thinking that she didn't realize she put her foot in the wrong place to hold her weight to the next branch. So when the bark of the tree broke free she slipped and ended up hanging from the branch rather than being on it. "Ung.." The near fall had caused her a start so she swung there for a moment.

At the crack of the branch, Kanika turned quickly hands already extending out to grip onto Akel. Her legs were keeping her steady thankfully and Akel had also grabbed onto the branch. Kanika held out both hands, bracing her legs for the extra weight. “I’ll pull you up.” She said ready. They were almost to the top, not far to go now. She was going to go a bit slower in case either of them slipped up again. They’d been lucky that Akel had managed to grab on, otherwise she’d have to run off to find a doctor.

She took the outstretched hand and moved her legs to hopefully find purchase again. Akel was practically embarrassed that she had slipped up. Her mind had been elsewhere and she'd not been paying much attention. It was her fault. Once she was up on the branch she frowned a little at herself. "Thanks.." Of course she was grateful to Kanika for helping but she shouldn't of had to have to help. "I won't slip again.." And she meant it. Knowing that her day dreaming had more or less caused her to make a mistake she would make sure to pay attention from now on.
