Mnong'ono was out alone again. Not that she minded, after all, she had spent a good portion of her younger life alone once she'd left her family, exploring the rogue lands and seeing what the world had to offer. Although she was settled and happy in the Pridelands, occasionally she got the want to go and see what was outside, and today was one of those days.

The sandy coloured Lioness had had a busy past few days, so she was glad to have a little time to herself. Not that she regretted bringing the green lioness back with her and taking care of her, but she had always been a rather independent lioness, one who needs her alone time. With Janikiwiti settling in she felt it was okay for her to take a little break.

Today, she was walking down a branch of the river that ran through the Pridelands and out into the unknown. It flowed gently, the water crystal clear at this particular part of it. Perhaps she would stop and catch a fish.

The big golden reaver huffed out a sigh as he sank into the chill water, feeling the welcome sting as it flowed over and into the savage tear on his shoulder. It wasn't a bad wound, per say, certainly not the worst he had ever acquired. But it was sore, and being shallow but wide, it would take some time to heal and leave yet another scar for his collection. The scar didn't bother him, only the chance that the wound would heal stiffly. The last thing he wanted was to gain a pernament disadvantage. Thus, his dip in the river.

Shifting over to soak more of his tired body in the cold water, he relaxed where he lay, submerged to his shoulders on the bank of the river. He was fairly well hidden from the land by the high bank, but the gentle slope of sandy ground meant that even if he got stiff and more sore, he would have an easy time getting out and onto dry land. But for the time being, the water was good, cool and fresh, and it would clean his wound and give it the best chance of healing properly.

Yawning mightily he shifted until he could rest his chin on the bank while keeping his body and the injury in the water. At least there was no rush, the rest of the band were eating and sleeping after the long trek and shift but violent fight. No one would miss him for a while.

Not far from the Reaver was the sandy lioness. She had found a flat rock that jutted out over the water which allowed her good access to the river and it's goods that would be swimming by. It was the perfect spot to do a little recreational fishing. She focused on the water, waiting for her chance to strike and catch herself a meal.

Except nothing was coming by.

"How strange," she said to herself.

Perhaps there was some sort of blockage that the fish could not pass? She looked down the river and then noticed what might just be scaring them away. There, in the water, was a large lion, almost completely submerged. No wonder the fish were wary.

"Excuse me," she called out from the other side of the river after making her way to opposite him.

"You are scaring away the fish."

The sudden voice pulled him from his reverie, shattering the quiet stillness that had devloped as he lay there, soaking in the river. Lifting his head, water dripping from his soaked fur and off his chin, he turned to look at the stranger. A female, he noted with mild surprise. What was she doing out here? As far as he knew this was an unoccupioed area...

Twisting to look at her agrivated the wound that had finally started to settle down, so with a grunt he heaved himself up onto his paws, then turned round in the stream and lay back down facing her. It wasn't as comfortable, the water lapped high up his throat and his rump was higher up on the bank, but the wound in his side was still submerged so it would do temporarily. Now that it was upstream however, a slightly pink tinge spread out from his side where the pressure of the water flow kept the leaking blood trapped against his side instead of washing it away.

"Fish?" He repeated, having to coral his thoughts into something resembling awareness rather than the half-doze he had fallen into. "My apologies." He finally added.

Mnong'ono looked at the lion. Had he really not sensed, smelled her presence at all? Surely anybody with a sense of smell and a desire to not be killed, abducted or attacked would be on their guard, especially out here in the rogue lands, regardless of how good a time they were having in the water or not.

"The fish, she said and she looked in the direction that she assumed the fish would travel, had there not been a great big lion in the water. She noticed him grunt, perhaps he was annoyed that she had bothered him from whatever relaxation ritual he had begun. She was about to speak again when she noticed the the water changing hue, tinging red the otherwise crystal blue.

"Are you hurt?" she asked. looking at what could only be blood escaping into the river. Cautious as she was, Mnong'ono always lended a paw when it was necessary.

The water was not particularly deep, nor flowing fast. She jumped in with a splash and swam across the other side to help the lion.

"What have you done..." she muttered once she was at his side. "Do you need help?"

Ronan hadn't been paying attention, and it wasn’t only the wound in his side that had distracted him. He was a reaver, a big scary warrior male from a pride of big scary warriors. He had no fear of one or two rogues attacking him, though a group may be a little more troublesome but then he would have noticed a large group coming towards him. As it was, one lone female was hardly enough to worry him, and he watched as she first examined the river, then seemed to just throw herself into it for no reason.

As she came closer, her reason became obvious, or at least suspect. Though her tone suggested that she was concerned rather than aggressive about it. Glancing at his pinkish-stained side he shrugged, though he stayed laying down in the river, preferring the chill of the water on the torn flesh and also hiding it from her eyes. he wasn't comfortable with someone seeing him hurt. Call it a macho male thing... it still felt, embarrassing.

"I was fighting..." He rumbled lowly, almost under his breath as if reluctant to admit it. "It isn't bad, it just feels good in here..." Well, 'good' wasn't the right word, but it would do. easier than explaining that the cold water was numbing the pain and washing the wound clean all at the same time.

"You males, always fighting," she tsked him as he hid the wound from her. How was she supposed to help if he staying in the water? Then she supposed she was just a random lioness after all. Perhaps that was his issue. She was the same when she was in the rogue lands. It was difficult to trust anyone, or anything, out here.

"At least you are doing the right thing and keeping it clean," she agreed, being in the water was the best thing for it now.

"Though eventually you'll have to let it scab over," she said.

She wondered about how the male had gotten it. How recent a fight was it. Was the other male just around the corner. She wasn't scared, just wary. The lioness looked over her shoulder but couldn't see any figures approaching. Best to keep on guard anyway.

"I suppose someone should watch you in case whoever did that tried to come back and finish the job."

She sat down nearby, hoping the lion could understand her actions.

He managed a slight smile at her comment, dipping his head in agreement. "Occupational hazzard." He replied to her, dark eyes finally settling on her to regard her properly. Her continued conversation amused him, not that he indicated it in any manner, he didn;t think that pointing out that he was far from inexperienced in the care of wounds would go over particularly well. females tended to get agrivated when corrected or questioned, he had found.

Instead he settled back down, shifting to a more comfortable spot where his head wasn't in danger of being dunked under. Ending up resting parallel to the bank and facing the female now that she was on his side of the river, he continued to watch her for a time. "They could try." He rumbled in return, finally. "They wouldn't succeed." He explained, with a lazy half shrug.

"Ronan, Reaver of the Myrsky Syntynyt." He finally introduced himself.

Mnong wondered just what kind of occupation one got that lead to that kind of wound. No doubt he was a soldier of some type. She was glad she was not around for the great war with the hyenas that occurred within the Pridelands, not that she was afraid of fighting, but she'd rather not get injured. She enjoyed the way she was.

"I don't know, you don't seem in much of a state to defend of any hostiles from the way I'm seeing things," she could only judge so much however. She didn't know what kind of strength he was capable of, but to her eyes, he seemed quite subdued from whatever he normally might be able to achieve. And he didn't seemed phased either, he seemed confident.

"The Myrsky Syntynyt..." she played with the words on her tongue. The name seemed familiar, but she couldn't recall anything other than that. The word Reaver also seemed odd. The sandy lioness assumed it was a warrior of some kind, to get injured like he was.

"Mnong'ono, huntress of the Pridelands," she replied. She enjoyed saying she was from the Pridelands now, she never thought she would, but that was a long time ago now.

Tilting his head slightly as she spoke, he finally smiled, a faint but genuine expression. But he didn't correct her. She obviously though he needed guarding and he wasn't going to be rude and point out the fact that he didn't. Besides, some company would be nice while he rested.

"A pleasure to meet you Mnong'ono. Is your pride located near by?" He asked, knowing that long silences were often considered awkward, at least that was what he had been told. Personally Ronan was content to sit and enjoy the river and her presence without speaking. But if he was the first Stormborn she had met, he should probably put in the effort to appear friendly, at least enough to converse. Maybe she would even tell him about the area and where he and his band might find something of interest.

"It is not too far," she said, with a flick of her tail.

"It is a beautiful, abundant place. Any lion, or any species, can feel at home there," it was one of the many things she loved about her home. Mnong'ono couldn't be more happy with her choice. She'd spent a lot of time in the rogue lands, and loved it, but something about the Pridelands called to her, and so far she had not regretted her decision.

"Of course, it is beautiful out here as well," she said after a moment, indicating to the river, the lands around them. The roguelands were also a beautiful place, and,if you knew where to look, had plenty to offer.

He glanced at her tail as it moved, wondering if she had indicated the direction of her pride, or just that an insect was bothering her. Still, she continued to speak and so he listened politely, actually taking in what she said and paying attention. Something his war-brother Aksel would be amused to learn he was capable of. Shifting in the cool water he moved so it was easier to look at her without straining his neck, as it seemed they would be here some time, if she didn't get fed up with his lack of witty conversatino skills. He had always been better at fghting than talking. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't hold a conversation when he wanted to...

He decided that today was a good day to practice, and with a lioness both pretty and apparently patient enough to let him. Smiing faintly he settled into the attempt, content to stay in the river and talk with her.

Vesale
