Ness was out and about in mid morning. Her partner in crime was still quite a sleep. He always slept during the bright sunny hours. Ness had been trying to switch to that sort of sleep cycle, but spring was doing the way it does. Ness couldn't resist the return of sunshine on the meadow. Days like this when it was bright and sunny but not too hot. She just longed to do handstands. She wanted to walk on her forepaws with her hind feet dangling above her head.

That was precisely what she was doing. She figured eventually there would be someone she could show off this to who would find it entertaining or amusing. In the meantime, she was perfecting the ease with which she did it.

Valainistima slowly walked through the grass, swiping it away with her paw as she stepped. It's tall stalks brushed against her fur with her movements as she searched between it's blades with intense focus. She had been running out of supplies in her alchemy satchel and needed to find the correct flowers for the formula she was working on. "Show your red petals for me already." She mumbled to herself as she continued to scan the meadow floor. The sun gleamed down on her pale colored fur as she scowered for her supplies through the green grass, the heat from it's rays warming her body up as the cool morning became just a memory. Bottles clinked together as her bag bounced a bit with every step Val took but she didn't notice the sound as she had learned to tune it out while she was being focused. Releasing a heavy sigh the goddess serveyed items she needed to collect which was kept within her mind. "I'll just come back to that one." She continued onward through the rolling hillside as she began searching for the next blossom that was on her list.

It was neither smell, sight, or aura that caught Ness's attention to another presence somewhere nearby. It was the clinking of bottles. That ruffling sound of them in a leather sack. That sound crept up Ness's ears like a slight tickle. Like a soft quiver of vibration.

The first time she felt her ears flicker. She pawed it and pulled her ear down onto her cheek. When it continued, she paused in middle of a backbend. She was just about to try a backwards sommersault. Still, that sound. It arrested her attention.

With a soft plop, her body dropped to the ground. Her wings remembering themselves and twitching on her back. For a pappilon, she sure seemed to from time to time forget all together she even had wings. Sure, hers weren't the sort made for long nor extended flight, but they could lift and save her from falling. That is... if she could remember to use them.

As she laid there on the ground smelling the fresh spring grass, her ears continued to chime in with the bottle clinking. Like a swaying to the music. finally, she knew there was no hope to continue doing her little exercises. She should go find this alarm clock, so she can hit the snooze on it.

Yet, the first thing she happened on was a ulaya who was much taller than her. She could see the pale golden cream toned tail. She couldn't see much else past the vast white cloak. The red ends failed to see due to Ness's eyes having not fully swept over the one before her.

Val had not noticed the presence of another ulaya, she was so concerned with finding those flowers that she could have been right on top of the butterfly winged girl and she still wouldn't have seen her there. Raising her view from the ground, the goddess scanned the horizon for the sight of a forest in the area for one of her quested plants required a host to grow off from due to it's lack of leaves to feed itself. She 'humphed' to herself for there was no sign of a tree line anywhere around her. "This is going to take forever to complete." She mumbled to herself as she continued to walk over a grassy knoll, her nose deep into her satchel as she searched for a scroll to review. Perhaps she was mistaken by the location of what she was looking for and that would explain the lack of flowers. Val wasn't paying attention to where she was going and when she took one more step over the small green hill her foot hit something and her body was thrust forward as she stumbled over the obstacle with which she had previously missed. Valainistima quickly pulled her head out of her leather bag to see what she had just tripped over when a glass bottle flew out of her sack and smashed on the ground, causing a flash of purple before a puff of smoke which matched it's color started flowing up to the sky while the sound of the explosion sort of fizzled out. "Oh for heavens sake! It took me 23 days to complete that potion!" Finally catching her footing the goddess looked back and saw the small figure which now lay before her on the ground and her mind was brought back to reality. "Oh dear, are you alright?" She leaned down a little and offered a paw for the shimmering blue ulaya to help her back to her feet. "I apologize, I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm such a klutz sometime." Val brushed the dust and grass off from the other ulaya's pelt with her slender paw and smiled at her as she exclaimed "There, good as new."

Ness had been slowly creeping her way closer for a better look. Always curious, nosy. Eager to discover whatever's waiting around that tree, hill, or down a cliff. She wasn't entirely sure it wasn't her fault when the golden body fell over her. She found the cape momentarily casting shadows over her eyes.

Her nose gave a sniff towards the direction the glass had broken in. "What is that??" She inquired. She had never seen anything like this. Of course, she knew of some ulaya that had fancy hair. Some who wore garments. She always wondered where they got it. How did they get it into those shapes. She herself had been trying to find out how to make a tent and something like a flashlight.

When she was picked up and dusted off, she nearly started to purr. How nice. Petting, petting, there can be more petting? "Yup, I'm always all right... well until I'm not.."

She shrugged in a sort of self mocking sort of way. "I'm sure I'll be fine, but let me help you clean up these shiny pieces. What was that if you don't mind me asking? How did you get these shiny bottles? Do you know how to turn one into a thing that lets me trap light inside to see when i'm inside the dark of a cave?"

The goddess couldn't help but chuckle at the little ulaya who was rather amusing to her. As she finished dusting off her soft pelt, Val began to brush the dirt off herself when she heard the ulaya say she was going to help clean up the mess. "No no don't touch that!" She pulled the ulaya away from the smoky mess which was starting to go away. She sighed as she watched her perfect potion soak into the ground before her and she looked back down at the other ulaya who had a confused look on her face by now. "It's a potion that's supposed to burn more intensely than any normal fire but it's extremely unstable." The goddess pulled the scroll she was previously searching for from her bag and lay it on the ground in front of herself. "Of course I can make a solution that glows, that's the basics of alchemy." She cleared her throat and looked back at the other ulaya for she had just realized that she seemed somewhat like a nerd right there. "My name is Valainistima, but you can call me Val for short." She rolled the scroll open and began scanning it's contents for what she was searching for before her paw landed on a word written in latin. "Have you seen any Lotus berthelotii flowers around here by any chance? They're more commonly known as parrot's beak because they look as such."

Ness was by no means a naive little child. She wasn't always easily impressed with others. Especially if they couldn't do something she could. Still though, the answer that this cloaked female could make light! bottled light! Ness's face was all lit up with excitement and expectation. So caught up on that one thing she forgot entirely being pulled away from the mist.

"Nice to meetcha Val. I'm Ness." She looked down at the scroll on the ground. Her eyes then looked up at the goddess. "Wow... you can read that huh? That's amazing. Could you teach me how to read? I bet that's useful."

When asked about the flowers though, Ness looked away at her tail touching the grass embarrassed. Her blue fur saturating from a cotton candy blue to a cotton candy red. "Um, I don't know. I mean... Maybe... I've seen lots of things flying around. Do you have a picture of what it looks like?"

Ness hadn't really made any passive observations about the female she stood besides. That was how she was though. Even when other people told her about another ulaya. She would take time to get to know them and see for herself. She always took time to get to know others for herself; believing she might discover their true worth at some point.

Then, Ness scooted closer and asked in the quietest of voices. "Did you wanna just.... brush my fur down one more time?" She had a most sheepish bring on her face. She loved being touched at any given moment, any day, by any body. Something in the touch of this lady seemed different somehow. It was a pleasant different too.

"Oh well ... I don't think reading latin would be of much use to someone who doesn't use it on a regular basis." She released an amused giggle as she rolled the scroll back up and placed it back into her bag. "Well flowers don't fly so I don't think you'll find them up there." She sat down on the soft ground, the mossy patch barely moving under her delicate weight before she lowered the rest of her body down to lay on her belly. Even though she was completely on the ground she was still high enough to converse at eye level with Ness for her size was much larger than the playful female's. "I'll put my studies aside for now and show you something." She took out a round glass bottle, it had such a small neck that it almost just looked like a clear ball with a light wooden cork. She placed it lightly on the ground before the two and took out two more bottles and a small leather bag, just big enough to fit nicely in her slender hands. Taking the cork of one bottle she poured a little bit of the solution into the empty round one she had taken out first and then repeated with the second vile. After putting them back into her sack the goddess raised up the round glass and began swirling it around making the liquids blend together evenly. "This one won't explode like the last." She decided to add so her little friend wouldn't think ill of her intentions. Once the solution had become a light platinum color Val set it on the ground and picked up the small bag she had set aside. Reaching her paw into it she pulled out a light gray powder, just enough to make a small pile on one of her paw pads. Slowly she nudged her hand and let the powder fall into the bottle before closing it with the cork and swirling it around again.

"Now this is the fun part." She said, feeling almost like this was a mediocre magic trick a mortal may try with a young one. But she enjoyed this kind of stuff because she knew that not everyone had a magical upbringing like herself and just like the stars above did for her, ulayas find her tricks to be wondrous and amazing. Once the pale goddess was happy with the blend of solution she had made she leaned in closely towards Ness and pulled her cloak over the two of them, creating a sort of tent which shielded the sunlight to it's best abilities. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the shade but soon it was made obvious what she was doing. The bottle glowed like the moonlight on a dark clear night, creating a platinum glow on the two figures which lay under the fabric above. As she began moving the bottle again a darker silver color swirled within the glowing platinum and created a magical sight that even now still captivated the goddess with it's beauty. She then looked down at her broach which constantly glowed with a purple stream and she touched it with her paw for a moment then when she took her hand away some of the purple remained in her claws. "My mentor gave me some of his magic to use. This is my favorite part." She said with excitement in her voice and a glow of joy in her sky blue eyes. She placed the glowing bottle into the hand which contained the Arcane magic and let it sit there for a moment. The bottle slowly began to shimmer and shine like it was just covered in some stardust, the beams danced around their makeshift fort like a spinning disco ball, making random spots brighter than the normal glow the bottle already gave them. "The Arcane magic I added will allow the bottle to never dim out. The potion is only a short term solution but with the magic of a god it will continue to glow for as long as it remains in this bottle." She then offered the glass to her friend before taking her cloak off from them and sitting back up.

Ness blinked at Val with visible relief from the embarrassment as seeming entirely ignorant and inept at almost everything the golden ulaya had been bringing up. Ness started to open her mouth to argue a point about flying and being able to see things if she's not flying overly too high. Then, she just stopped and didn't say anything. After all, this was still partially a stranger. She didn't know this ulaya long enough to take such boldness as to debate how much you can see from how high or not quite so high.

Then, as Val began her work. Ness sat watching with piqued curiosity. Her eyes watching the golden paws at work. She had never seen anything like this. As the taller drew the cloak around them; Ness's senses all heightened. Her ears stood straight up, and the hairs along her back rippled.

The sight of the white moonlight in the bottle immediately drew a sharp and loud cry of delight out of Ness. "Waaaaa... WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!!!" She turned her head to nearly press her eyeball right on the glass. Then, her eyes looked up at Val with wonder. "This is so amazing! I can't believe you can do this. This is fantastic!!! Wait until Victor sees this... I can't wait to try it out..."

Then, Ness grew even more excited and moved back and forth between her hind feet at first. Then she tried to sit still, but her energy ran down into her tail sending it back and forth in an almost feline like manner. "Oh, you're giving this to me? To keep it? Like... I can have this?"

Ness just stared up at Val, deep into her eyes. She wondered if Val knew about making tents too.

Valainistima laughed softly at her excited friend and nodded with her response "Yes, it's yours to keep." She then pulled out a canvas cloth as well as a string and her quill. Leaning down to make sure she's doing it right she drew a transmutation circle on the cloth and slowly took the glimmering glass ball from Ness and placed it on top of the fabric. Wrapping up the bottle she then tied it off with the string and handed it back to her friend. "The spell will keep the glow inside the fabric without it escaping any light. That way you won't always be glowing when you're walking around" She made sure to keep the string long so the blue ulaya could wear it around her neck if she so desired. It was interesting to her how Ness had not reacted to her mentioning of a god's power. Most ulayas jumped at the thought of being in the presence of a goddess and not always in a good way but this one wasn't quite like the others, she was genuinely cheerful and pleasant to be around. Val looked around them for potentially something that would look good enough to eat. It was still early morning and the goddess had been up since before the sun looking for the flowers she needed to finish her next solution. Alas, nothing around them seemed to be edible and so she turn her attention to the winged ulaya who continued to play with her new night light with much excitement.

Ness completely missed the mention of a god. The blue female had never had much spirituality. She still recalled the earthquakes that came a few years ago. The ones that were rumored to be the cries of the planet in response to the gods turning away or all leaving their world. Even back then, Ness had wondered whether there really were gods. What made someone a god? Did they decide it themselves? Was it a status that came from others worshipping you?

The idea that as gods turned their back on this world; that the realm of ulayas all over would feel a violent effect in the earth and environment around them. Yet, the idea overall seemed vastly unimportant. What were gods useful for anyways? Her lack of any theology wasn't too far off from her general disdain for romance and lacking a belief in true love. She didn't believe in those either.

Ness believed in one thing. Touch. She believed in what she could feel when she was touched. She believed what she felt when she touched others. When the bottle was wrapped and put on her like a little sling sack of her own, Ness could swear she felt ever just the lightest of brushings on her fur.

She grinned. Her body moved in the direction of Val's paw, limp and liquid. She just didn't know that this difference of touch was just because the female with her wasn't mortal. The touch felt almost as good as a drug.

In a brave move, she took a deep breath. With eyes fixed with determination, she looked straight into Val's eyes with deep earnest. "I don't suppose.... despite you made me this wonderful gift... be willing to ... pet my head? Or... like.. I don't know... rub my arm? When you touch me, it feels really nice."

Somewhat surprised by the question the goddess just smiled at Ness and inched her body a little closer to her before raising her paw and to pat her head. "It's natural that my presence would feel pleasing to you." She stood up and walked next to the snow colored ulaya before laying down right beside her, leaning their bodies together. She then reached back up and stroked the top of her head again, patting down her soft fur. Placing her paw on the ground she leaned her body into Ness's and let some of her magic flow into the ulaya's body, it's warmth taking over any of the negative feelings she may have felt before. She was happy with sitting there all day, the company of another is something she hasn't had the time to enjoy in a few months but she knew at some point she would have to return back to her studies. Thinking for a moment she looked down at Ness and let out a grin. "Would you like to help me finish collecting my supplies I need for this potion I'm making?" She figured if she had to go about her chores she might as well invite a friend along for the ride.

In the way she would when other ulaya touched her head. Her head pressing gently up into the paw and a gentle nuzzling to feel it. She would have done that with anyone who would pet her. Petting was so nice after all. As the magic worked down into her body, her eyes glazed over. Her facial features all began to look almost intoxicated. The way too much of her blood made Victor's face go all wuzzah; her face was doing the exact same thing.

Somewhere in her stupor of touch, she registered that she was asked a question. As she tried hard to focus on what was asked of her, it finally bubbled up. "Huh? Um... Oh..... " Yup, The stupor of incoherent thought she devolved into with much petting.

"Well... I mean... if you wanted! I don't really have anywhere to be. I have my friend I go out with in the evenings, but he doesn't wake up till after the sun goes down usually. Well, sometimes I wake him up early, but it gets a little much. I been trying to wait till later now... and," she looked up to see where in the sky the sun burst from. "I probably have at least two to three hours till he wakes up. I can help you for that long at least. I don't mind helping."

"Wonderful." Val said showing a grateful smile. "It gets pretty dull looking for supplies alone and with two eyes maybe we will find them faster." The goddess pulled out a plank piece of parchment paper and her quill and started sketching a rough drawing of a specific flower she needed to find. "Here, this is a flower I need. It's called Strongylodon macrobotrys, or more commonly known as the Jade Vine." She more or less was hoping maybe she had seen them around for they grow rather large and would be hard to miss if someone was more familiar with the area. But they grow from the trees and they were currently in an open field so they would have to find a more suitable habitat for finding them. "Is there any chance you might know where I could find some? Or even where the nearest forest is?"
