Ugh. The sun was hot so deep in the afternoon and the local lion pride had taken up whatever shade could be found under the few trees that dotted the landscape. Cradily grumbled from where she tried to worm deeper in the grass to hide from the blistering heat, her back as green as the grass around her, blending in with effortless perfection. She was an ambush predator by design, but it was definitely way too hot to think about hunting at this time of day.
She could only pray that maybe some clouds might come along and block out the golden ball of light high in the otherwise perfectly blue sky. Some shade, even if only fleeting, would have been so greatly appreciated.

Aldo grumpily glared at the lion pride that had come around. He was in one of the few trees around in the area and didn't like having his sleep interrupted. He also didn't like lion prides that much. The last lion he had an encounter with implied that he could have been taken away as a slave or something. Getting along with lions just wasn't worth it.
At least they were a bit aways so he could possibly move out of the area. He started getting out of his tree. He would be hidden enough in the tree, so he was taking a risk moving out of it. Finally he reached the ground and was intending to get away when he accidentally bumped into something, tripping over it after losing his footing.
Not a good way to start. Hopefully it hadn't attracted the lions' attention.

The soft thud of paws hitting the ground had come from a short distance off, though Cradily didn't bother lifting her head to see which direction the noise had come from. A poor decision on her part considering that, only a few minutes later, after the rustling of grass continued to grow marginally louder, some stranger or another tripped over her broad, muscular body.
For a leopard, she was thick, less sleek than most of her kind who took to climbing and the trees and chose smaller prey as their targets. They didn't drag beasts to the ground from below like some manner of land crocodile the way she did. Gouging the underbelly, taking out their legs.
It had proven an effective way to hunt, if her subtle plumpness was any indication.
Hey! Watch where you're going! I'm laying here! Cradily drawled automatically, pushing herself up just high enough to see that it was another leopard, as blue as she was green, that had made the mistake of falling over her. You're lucky you're not something edible.
She mused dryly. Or you'd already be dead.
SSBrosB Sorry for the delay on this, will try to crank the rest of my posts out quicker so we can get this done fast.

He groaned a bit as he finally got back up to his feet. That hurt. And was pretty embarrassing too if he had to admit. He muttered a sorry as he got his bearings, looking around to see what he had tripped over. It was a leopardess, a good looking one at that. Great, that was an amazing first impression! He heard her almost yelling at him, and he agreed that he deserved it. Wasn't he a leopard? Tripping was beneath them! What kind of leopard was he, not even noticing what was right in front of him?!
"Sorry I... guess I wasn't looking where I was going." He replied sarcastically at her last comment. It was hard for him not to. If someone replied to him like that he just had to bite back. It had gotten him in trouble a few times at least, and probably in more fights than he had wanted.
He made sure to look quickly past her and check to make sure that they weren't being watched by those lions. Even if they did counterattack, there were more than enough lions to take them out. He looked back at the female. Great, what was he supposed to say now? Just try and strike up a conversation like she hadn't just been tripped over?Neon Fly It's np I have to crank out a couple of SRPs too.

Clearly. Cradily returned with biting wit and no desire to back down, eyes rolling exaggeratedly. He might have been alright if he hadn't felt the need to speak. She'd almost felt bad when he'd initially looked apologetic. The sympathy had faded as quickly as he'd opened his mouth though. Males were prone to ruin everything simply by speaking, it was a fatal flaw of their kind.
Following his gaze to where the lions lay, the leopardess arched a brow. Was he nervous about their presence? Even if she didn't particularly like looking at them, Cradily was most certainly not afraid of them. You're fine, you know. It's too damn hot for anybody to be bothered about chasing or killing anyone else.. and that goes for prey to.
She assured lazily, though not entirely certain why she even offered the words of comfort. Sure, it didn't hurt her to say them, but neither was it likely to bring her any benefit either.

Aldo hmphed quietly. He did not like the attitude of this leopardess. Of course, he hadn't been quite that gracious to her himself. He grumbled a bit in appreciation for her reassurance, though wasn't sure if he had needed it.
It was hot though, and the shade wasn't making it any better it seemed. The wind seemed to match the general heat of the land today, and there would be no getting away from it. At least not that easily. The watering hole might help.
"Right." He replied, nodding his head. He wasn't sure where to go from here in the conversation. "So... is this the area you live in?"

He still seemed uneasy, though now Cradily wasn't sure if it was because of the lions or her. An amused sort of smile curled her muzzle at the thought as she looked him over with a lazy sort of interest. He was handsome at least. Better to spend one's time in the presence of an attractive, foolish leopard than an unattractive one, right?
Yes and no. Her initial answer to the question was intentionally cryptic, allowing the silent to draw out until it seemed she might not explain herself before adding unhurriedly. I travel as I please, following the herds around. I'm here now, but I probably won't be much longer. In my experience, if you're alone, it's better not to stay in one place very long.
Cocking her head to one side curiously, the strange leopardess grinned. How about you?

Aldo started to become uncomfortable with all of the silence that the leopardess was giving to him. Should he say something? He heard her respond and was thankful that she said something, though he felt as though she had paused that long on purpose.
He nodded his head in understanding. He continually moved around too. There were always too many predators trying to get you if you stayed in one place too long. But he knew that some of them had managed to make it.
"I'm like yourself. Follow the food. Rest for a bit, go on the move again. I mostly try to avoid fights but sometimes you're forced into them." He replied.

There was something amusing about this guy. Once he relaxed he didn't seem all that bad. Then again maybe she was just desperate for company. Either way, she wasn't about to tell him that. Standing up onto all four paws, first sticking her hind quarters in the air as she bowed into an indulgent, spine-curling stretch and only then lifting her shoulders so that she was once again level with the ground, Cradily laughed, tail flicking. You're kind of strange. You know that? Most males would be too proud to admit that they avoid fights, all that bravado and whatever..
She rolled her eyes to make it clear such a thing didn't particularly interest her before continuing, her smile widening in suggestion. I'm kind of curious to find out what else you'll say. Care to take a walk with me? I think I remember passing a river bed over that way, I could use a drink.
Cradily's voice was already fading though as she weaved her way through the grass unhurriedly. If he followed, good for her. If he didn't, well, then it was clearly his loss.

Aldo grimaced as she called him strange. Was he really? He didn't think so. But maybe to others he was. He didn't know it was uncommon to admit one got into fights. It was rare someone went their entire life without getting into one out here in the rogue lands, and that was considered lucky. That is, if they could survive still.
He watched her roll her eyes and invite him to walk with her. Well, that wouldn't be too bad right? It was okay to have company some times, even for him. He sighed, deciding to join her and running to catch up to her he then slowed down so he was even with her. Didn't want either of them to get ahead did he? Well, we'll see where this goes...
