Skype Log Drisdin had just put the kids down for their naps, rubbing her face. He tried to keep it under wraps but he wanted more kids. Sure seven kids was a lot of work but he wanted more... They weren't little babies anymore. In fact, some of them were almost ten years old now. What then? He didn't want his nest to ever be empty... and what if they all left the pack to pursue their dreams.... their lives? Drisdin's eyes teared up, wiping them as his ears drooped. What was one or two.... three more pups? Cal already had three before they met while he didn't have a chance at kids because he needed a better job as well as a partner. But now... he had all of that. In fact he had more than that! He had TWO mates and a pretty good job even with his classes at his university. Even his mates had decent jobs so it wasn't like they couldn't support more.
He wiped at his eyes again, curling his tail around himself for comfort. Cal wasn't supposed to be home for at least another hour and Lir was out of town. So he let himself cry quietly to himself. It was so hard not to bother his alpha for more kids. He knew how stressed Cal and Lir were with the seven already but... Drisdin just wanted more. Was he selfish for wanting more pups? Weren't packs supposed to be large? He wiped at his eyes more., curling into himself. He could never tell Cal... he feared he'd look ungrateful for the wonderful little ones they already had.
Callahan had a fair amount on his mind, namely the family of his that had grown. Sometime ago..he'd been lonely. Before he'd tried to adopt, or even date he'd had very little in his life. Cal had to fight for everything, including his place in life. After being abandoned shortly after his stone was awoken, he never was adopted out. Cal remained a ward of the school, and had promised to one day make a difference for some other child who had been misfortunate.
All Cal had known was that his parents had abandoned him when they realized having an awakened stone was too much work. Cal devoted himself to his mates and children for this reason. He'd adopted his first three children much by accident. Tabitha had stood infront of Cecil and Kahlau, mouthing off to him about demanding he take all three. Almost over night, his life had drastically changed. While working, class and children was hard he wouldn't change it for anything. He'd met Drisdin as a Junior, but hadn't been close after graduating. By accident they had met again one after in the park not long after adopting his 3. Lir came into their life several months later, when Drisdin and her became friends at the coffee shop.
Before long, their little pack dynamic began. Drisdin and Lir were the motherly girls (and father in Drissy's case) that Cal felt his little ones deserved. Love blossomed, and before long Cal let his heart lead him to writing not for an audience of strangers..but to his sweet grimm lovers whom he wished to spend his life with forever. Their 4 children came along, and now? Cal wondered if they would keep their nest full. The idea made his heart flutter, but he feared what his lovers would think. Seven was a lot of kids..but was that really so bad?
No matter how many he had..each would be loved and provided for, to the best of his ability. His pack was growing, and while the idea of his children ever leaving made his heart sieze he would support them. Always. He'd been afraid all his life he would be all alone..Cal had even convinced himself of that by the time he had graduated from the academy as a senior. Now however, he had nothing to fear the alpha male felt.
Once he was done with his article for the newspaper for the day, he bid his farewells and packed up his things. The Grimm made his way home, quietly letting himself in as he was certain his children were all likely down for naps at this time. "Babe, I'm home." He called out, tail swishing slightly. Closing the door, he shrugged off his sweater. He knew Lir was out of town, but it was likely Drisdin was around. His nose sniffed the air as he went looking for his partner.
Drisdin's ears perked up when he heard that Cal was home. He rapidly wiped his eyes and pulled himself out of his pathetic position. He quickly floored it to the kitchen and pulled out many ingredients for dinner. There was no way in hell he was going to let Cal see him so pathetic. He started the stove to boil some water as he picked the shell noodles from the cabinet. He put on a large smile, turning to greet his lover. "welcome home, handsome. I'm working on dinner... Was thinking of pasta with cheese and broccoli. Sound alright?" He asked, beaming a loving smile to him... trying to hide that he was crying to begin with.
A furrow to his brow started when he thought he heard hurried footsteps. His ears flicked back, turning to go looking for the source of the sound. Any worry he might have felt evaporated some as he saw Drisdin in the kitchen. Smiling at the tanned, purple haired Grimm the taller male beamed at his lover. "Hello gorgeous." He murmured softly, walking to the other as a hand slid against the others back.
Unconsciously his tail brushed against the others, drawing the smaller male close. "That sounds great, I'll help you." He offered, kissing the others temple, and pulling Drisdin into a hug. He noticed the other seemed...to be smiling almost forced. The glow in the others stunning gaze seemed haunted.
A pang of concern pulled at his heart strings. "Everything okay..?" he murmured softly against one of the others ears, squeezing him lightly as he nuzzled him, reaching to grab a spice container before the other could to help salt the pasta water.
Drisdin smiled and nodded, "Of course, why wouldn't I be?" He replied, nuzzling into him. Cal made him feel much better, feeling him hold him closely. "I love you." He murmured, his tail swishing a bit as he kisses the other's cheek. "Dinner should be ready in about an hour or so." He explained. "I plan to put them in the oven as well.... put extra cheese" He mused, smiling to Cal.
Frowning slightly, he pursed his lips slightly when he said he was fine. Perhap she had just been busy, and he was worrying too much about his lover. With Lir being out of town, it left Drisdin home early with the kids. His eyes gleamed thoughtfully as he heard the other say he loved him. It made him blush faintly. Cal traced a clawed digit over his lovers striped forearm. Drisdin made him feel like he belonged..and it brought a smile to the spotted males face. "I love you..very much." He added softly, smiling genuinely then.
"Mm, and extra cheese? You are a saint love." He squeezed the others hips then..stepping over to help setup the table. His blue eyes traveled from Drisdin to the table. "Hmm..one day we'll need to get another leaf for the table." He commented thoughtfully, smiling as he placed silverware.
"A small army of children never hurt." He added after a moment, envisioning another set or four, noting the age groups of the different children would be quite an interesting pack dynamic. His tail swished abruptly, shyly as he realized he was tentatively talking about expanding their already healthy sized family with his partner. He was afraid the other was overwhelmed...and would be the last thing Drisdin wanted to hear.
Drisdin looked back to Cal with surprise, "Wait?... you want more pups?" He asked. Did he really! How wonderful! OH! Maybe it was a test.... Did Cal know? Drisdin rubbed his neck, "But... we already have seven kids.... do you think we really should have more pups?" He asked him... even if he certainly wanted more kids, he couldn't let Cal know that he wanted them.. he think he was selfish.... but if the Alpha wanted more pups... Drisdin would provide.
Callahan looked up from the table placement, blinking slightly at his surprise as he glanced back down and smiled a little. "I've been thinking about it...it'd be a good age group to mix given our current litters age, along with the older 3. Or maybe I'm just crazy. I never had a big family growing up..." He murmured, choosing his words carefully. "Is that too many kids? I know you end up helping out sometimes more so with the kids than Lir and even I do...I just don't want to overwhelm you, let alone us.." He looked worried then, feeling bad suddenly. Maybe his mate was right? Was the amount of children they had already far too many? The Alpha looked back then, leaning on the table as he loosely crossed his arms over his chest.
"I hm.." He began before smiling just a little. "I liked the idea but if that's asking to much love I understand." He pursed his lips slightly wondering if he'd been mistaken in bringing the topic up. Drisdin loved children...was it so wrong Cal wanted to have not only Drissy's kids..but Lir's too eventually? Perhaps even the two of them..it would depend on their resources, time and energy.
The more the merrier, so long as everyone was well fed and cared for sounded perfect to the Alpha grimm.
Drisdin turned back and continued cooking, "You are my alpha. If you want more pups then I will give you what you want. It's not like we wont be able to handle them..." He told him, hiding his feelings like he usually did. "I know Lir will do as you want too. We will always have your back." He told him, plopping the noodles in then turning to look to Cal. "How many were you wanting for this litter?" He asked curiously, hoping for three or four.
Cal pushed off the table, walking closer to his lover then. His body touched t he others back side then as he gently gripped the other, turning his lover to face him. "Ah, but I did not hear what you want." He spoke firmly, reaching up to cup the others face then. There was a tenderness to how he touched him. "I may want more, but do you want Dris?" He demanded softly of Drisdin, wanting to hear more than this coy defensive stance he was taking. Did he actually want this? He was leader yes, but what they wanted and felt was what mattered.
Pausing after a moment he rest his chin on the others shoulder briefly as his tail flicked side to side. "Three...perhaps four. We'll have to see what fate has in store..we got three and had a fourth surprise afterall." He smiled then at his lover, kissing his lips..even if it risked the noodles not being stirred for a moment.
Drisdin gave Cal a weird look, "I said it was fine if it's what you wanted? I'm not opposed to more pups." He told him, letting Cal be close to him. "I shall pick up three stones then?" He asked Cal, giving him a small smile before returning the other's kiss.
Cal seemed to accept the others answer. He sighed softly, smiling then with a bit of relief. "If you are sure..." He felt a little thrill of excitement pulse in his heart hearing the other talk about picking up three stones, smiling then as his tail wagged. "I have one more request of you." He murmured against his lovers lips as his nose brushed the others.
"I would like to imbue these with you..." It meant they had room in the future for other windows of children should the different partners and pairs want them. "Lir will have quite a surprise to come home to potentially." He laughed softly going to help him get drinks ready for their small hoard of children for tonight's dinner.
That settled it then. Drisdin seemed alright with his decision. With any luck, they would have three more in the near future then it seemed like!
