Finn got off work in the mid-afternoon, being blessed as he was by the park service's off-kilter scheduling. He headed over to Aleksy's, ready to wow his boyfriend with his latest sage insights into how the Otherworld worked, maybe knock back a couple of beers... ...and found that his boyfriend had started drinking without him. "Hey," said Finn, closing the door behind him. He could smell the vodka, even from across the room. "What's, uh, what's going on?"

"Closed shop early," said Aleksy into the arm of his couch. He was sprawled across it, shirt abandoned in favor of one of his binders, the black one with fanciful stretch-lace edging on the tummy. His bottle of fancy gift vodka was nearly empty and spinning gently on its side, Aleksy controlling the rotation of the bottle with a fingertip. "Mercer brought me--brought me vodka? Mm." He lifted his head to look at Finn blearily. "You... you're... hmmm..." Aleksy trailed off into Russian for a moment, and then propped his head up. "Thought you had... stuff to do... stuff and... nonsense."

Finn paused in his approach to set the bottle upright. "You've had, uh, a lot," he observed, honestly quite impressed with Aleksy's alcohol tolerance - anyone else would have probably passed out several shots ago. But then again, maybe Aleksy had been pacing himself? He had no idea how long he'd been at this, after all. "It's after four," he said, taking a set beside Aleksy on the edge of the couch. "Why'd, uh," he asked. "Why'd Mercer bring you vodka?"

"Cuz he's ******** jackass," said Aleksy, quite ferociously for someone as drunk as he was. "******** d**k who goes to other plane of existence with ******** giggles oh ho Lyoshka will have to talk to cops now ******** a*****e." He made claw hands in the air and then dropped them to his stomach, abruptly placid again. "How was your day?"

"So he brought you vodka," said Finn, not really following. He nodded slowly, content to let the matter slide - there were some things he was better off not knowing. "It was okay," he said, allowing for the change of subject. He reached one hand out to slip it between Aleksy's, fingers resting on his stomach. "The other one. The professor? Came to see me. Asked a buncha questions about the missing kids and Wampanoag mythology and how the otherworld works. He thinks something here in Ashdown's causing all this madness. I think that's bullshit." Finn turned to Aleksy, ready to drop a major truth bomb on him. "What if we've been going at this all wrong? The Otherworld doesn't look like the real world - the real world looks like the Otherworld. Stuff starts there, gets reflected here?"

Aleksy looked at Finn. He looked deep, deep into Finn's ocean-blue eyes, and he laced his fingers into Finn's, and then he chugged the rest of the bottle of vodka and said, "You think too much." He pushed himself into a sitting position, and then dropped himself in Finn's lap. "I don't want to go back to history class where you argue philosophy with dumb white people anymore. Mmmm." Dumbass Germans. For shame. He stroked his hands through Finn's hair and hid his face in Finn's shoulder, getting all drapey and comfortable there. "No metaphysics in bed, Huckleberry Finn. I forbid."

Finn had more or less expected that to be Aleksy's reaction, and allowed himself to be draped upon. "Of course," he said.
And then, for good measure, added, "please don't call me Huckleberry."

"Please don't call you Huckleberry in bed," said Aleksy seriously, and then he pressed several kisses along Finn's jaw. "You should take me to bed." Aleksy waggled his eyebrows and kissed Finn on the cheek. "It would be fun. We would have fun."

Finn pulled away slightly, giving Aleksy a serious look.
"You," he said awkwardly, "Are very drunk, and cannot consent to things right now."

Aleksy frowned. That was not how that was supposed to go. "I am much less drunk than you would be in this place," said Aleksy, jabbing at Finn's chest with a finger. "Watch. I can enunciate, and speak like a cultureless American, and likely even walk straight line, like boring prohibitionist I am seeing." He gave Finn a significant look, but mostly he seemed confused. " You are boring prohibitionist. You should drink, too. We take advantage of each other." Aleksy occupied his hands with the top button of Finn's ranger uniform, because why not.

"Oy," said Finn, placing his hands awkwardly over Aleksy's - he didn't want to stop him, not really, but he knew he probably should. "Your accent's slipping." That was usually the last thing to go, too.
"You are very drunk," said Finn softly, "And I do not want you to take advantage of me any more than I want to take advantage of you."
Not without making Aleksy beg for it first, anyway.

" You're slipping," said Aleksy rudely, making a game final go at losing his Russian accent. Then he gave it up, leaning in to nuzzle gently at Finn's throat. "You're not taking advantage. I give permission, maybe two month ago." Did Finn want sober permission today? because if so that was messed up. "If I say no or change my mind, I will say. You know." He sat back and said, "Please?"

Finn sighed. They'd discussed it, yes, but that didn't mean he was 100% comfortable with the idea, nor that he had to be. But this was getting just plain cruel. "Okay, fine," he said, leaning forward to kiss Aleksy. "You win."
