Rallying those with proper transportation, Kyou called forth any and all of the party goers - whether they had seen the catastrophe inside firsthand or not - to join him on the mad hunt for Fel Essences.
Since there is only one detection device for fel essences, and the fel essences had been scattered all over the city of Gaia, Kyou had to whip up some quick magic in order to help with the search.
Each team will get a petri dish filled with water, with a silver sewing needle in it. The silver needle will help guide the team to the nearest fel essence that they will need to recapture. However, unlike the device that Kyou has that has a huge tracking distance, the silver needle in the petri dish can only track fel essence in a half mile radius, and it will cease to function by midnight.
Each team will also get a bag filled with a handful of empty glass vials and jars that is meant to keep fel essences within. Because Kyou has a feeling that the scattered fel essences might not be in their original vessels anymore. Inside each vial and jar is a small piece of paper with inscriptions on it. It is meant to draw in fel essences that has no physical form, such as fel essences related to sound or wind. However they will need to be fairly close to the fel essence in order for this to happen. This was also a last minute magic that Kyou came up with, because he will be unable to come with the teams for the hunt due to his... disability. He would only slow everybody down. Should the teams run out of glass vials or jars, they could return to the Lab where Kyou is for more.
Fel essences are radioactive, although they have a fairly low level of it.That is why they should be handled with care. The radioactivity of fel essences are harmless to Raevans though, so if permissible, it is best to have a Raevan handle the fel essence. If that option is not viable, it is best to protect yourself when retrieving the fel essence. Whether with gloves or other form of protection. It is best not to have skin contact with the fel essence, as it might have long term effects.
With that said, when the teams are ready, they should head out and search for the missing fel essences.

[1] This meta event works similarly to the Meaning of Fear meta a few years back. With a few adjustments. [2] Each group will get their own threads to RP in. Your RP opponent or what I prefer to call 'Game Master' will be the shop mule Anachrophobia who will be replying in the form of RP prompts to give you challenges and reply to your reactions. [3] The shop mule will start the thread, but the participants will be the one to start the RP. [4] Please roll a 6-sided dice when you start the RP. This will decide where you start your RP at. It is best advised to assign one person to do this, preferably the person starting the RP. Please refer to list below for the numbered locations. You may decide/describe how said location look like. [5] The groups this time had been predetermined, you don't get to choose who to go with. IC-ly, it is Kyou trying to equalize the amount of people in each group and the balance of strengths. The method of deciding who is in which group, is half randomized and half personally assigned by me. [6] Dice rolling might be prompted from the GM, to determine what may or may not happen, or decide where you go next. [7] You and your team can decide the posting order. The Game Masters don't really care. [8] THIS RULE IS IMPORTANT!!!!!! When it is your turn to reply in the RP, you only have 3 DAYS (aka 72 hours) to reply. If you don't, the Game Master will butt in and remove your character from the meta permanently. The next person in the posting order will have 3 days from the Game Master's reply to reply as well. [9] The rule above only applies to characters. If you signed up two characters for the meta, congratulations!! You got a second chance. If you didn't, goodbye. However, the Game Master chooses who to KO. [10] As this is a time sensitive RP event, please do not be pressured to write long elaborate RP posts. You need to progress through the city and not linger. That also means, please do not expect long replies from the mule either. [11] Only characters that had been signed up for in the Meta sign up thread and had 'checked in' in the ORP event before the bird shenanigans can participate in this Meta event. [12] When the Game Master enters your RP rotation, they are part of the RP rotation! You are not allowed to skip over a GM post or conveniently forgot about them because you're too excited. Game Masters will delete your extra posts if this happens. [13] Your quest to find the fel essences will end when you have found 5 fel essences, or when the one month period had passed. Certainly, even if you've found 5 fel essences and wish to continue, please inquire to do so!

(( Claire -> St. Andrews Cemetery & Church, with Lorenzo, Cesc, and Vesna ))
The dividing into teams had been easy (the good doctor had seen to that), and once everyone had treated their hurts and cleaned up a little, they only had their destinations to worry about, although her mind was roiling with questions as she drove. Who would want to steal the Essences? Who would send a flock of birds to do so? In the back of her mind, she pictured Lorin playing at the park with Aaron and felt a trickle of relief that he had not accompanied her today. Before they had departed she shot her husband a text - 'May be home very late, things have happened.' and when he had pressed for more details, she told him not to worry, everything was fine, 'Just helping out the Lab. Take Lorin over to Ma's.'
As a member of the Durem team, they were likewise divided up between cars and rolled in a small train towards their destination. Lorenzo and Vesna lived in Durem, which was a boon to their mission, but Claire had likewise lived in Durem for many years; perhaps with their combined efforts and knowledge of the area, they would make some good progress. The drive felt long and heavy to Claire, who still ached from the many cuts the birds had left her (an especially deep gash above her left eye, the only one that had needed a bandage, stung fiercely), but she imagined Cesc was feeling it moreso than her as she glanced at him in her passenger's side seat, as he had borne the brunt of the many birds in their flight. Her heart fluttered nervously as they rolled into Durem's city limits, eyes dashing between the road and the makeshift compass that Dr. Kyou had put together.
It did not take long for the compass to steer their two-car train towards the south end of town, to parts that were older. The needle guided them up a gently-winding hill, only to have their path impeded by locked gates. Claire put the car into park and turned it off, squinting against the sunlight at their destination. A worn sign over the gates said "St. Andrews Cemetery", and in the distance, she could see the outline of a forgotten church building just at the other side of the property. Climbing out of the car, she ran a hand through her mussed hair with a frown as she surveyed the gate before them.
"What a first stop," she said to the party at hand. If it had been night time and perhaps a chillier season, the cemetery would have looked much more foreboding than it did at the moment, with its sprouting but overgrown lawns in the sunshine. They were lucky there - daylight would make the search easier. The gates may have been locked tightly enough to keep them from opening it to drive the cars through, but not enough to keep out trespassers who could be nimble enough to slide on through. 'Or over,' Claire thought as she remembered her earlier flight with Cesc.

Leaving the Lab was as easy as tossing aside his dirty hoodie, cleaning himself up and slapping on a ball cap over the wreck his hair had become. His wings had taken the brunt of the birds, but they were constantly regenerating in the sunlight, so it was no matter after Cesc transitioned them into intangibility--which they stayed for the comfort of the car ride. He had a monster bruise (or so he assumed) between them where a bird had crashed into him, and more bruises and scratches up his hands and arms. There were also a few on his forehead and cheeks, but that was the worst of it.
"No worse than a day training with Iorek," he joked to Claire, and he tried to keep the conversation light during the trip over. He asked about her family, about Lorin, about his settling in and any stories she had.
Truth be told, he was disturbed and annoyed at his inability to sense any of the lost fel essences, but he assumed that--being natural elements and having had nothing to bond with after capture--they didn't particularly mind being out and about again. It was a frustrating element to have to overcome, but he realized his lack of a 'cheat' only put everyone on the same field of play. He'd have to do his best.
As they approached the cemetery, Cesc gave an involuntary groan. He hadn't been in a cemetery since Lazarus's growth, and that memory--air thick with dust, humid with growing mold and the metallic sting of blood, Lazarus face down on the floor with his back gleaming--was not one he wanted to entertain at that moment. For a moment, he looked a little green, but as they exited the car and he gulped a few breaths of the fresh air, he managed to settle himself.
"Great…" he said to himself, taking off his cap to run his finger through his hair and then replacing it on his head. He offered Claire a faint smile. "Well, this is going to be a blast."
He floated toward the closed gates, shaking them with one hand. "Through or over," Rhedefre offered, turning toward Claire as they waited for Lorenzo and Vesna to show.

Lorenzo and Vesna took longer to show. Since they lived in the area, Lorenzo had gone home to "quickly pick up some supplies", which in Dad talk, Vesna already knew, meant that they were going to be at least fifteen minutes later than Cesc and Claire.
In some way she felt that it was her fault. Lorenzo was obviously feeling bad about not having been able to foresee or prevent the spontaneous bird attack. He seemed determined to prevent any other attack, animal or otherwise from endangering her today, and if that meant bringing a hiking backpack stuffed full of precautionary supplies, so be it. At least he wasn't asking her to stay in the house, she supposed. If she had to miss out on yet another thing because she was his responsibility and it could be dangerous she was going to scream. She didn't care how dangerous looking for fel essences was as long as she got to go outside and enjoy life just like living people did.
That being said, it seemed that their first stop was a cemetery. Vesna floated out of Lorenzo's car and whined, "Oh, you have got to be kidding me!"
"Sorry we're late!" Lorenzo huffed as he jogged over to Claire and Cesc with the hiking backpack weighing him down. "I just brought a few things for the search." Glancing up at the cemetery gates, he frowned.
"I hope those are unlocked," he said simply, "Because if somebody sees me break into a cemetery, they are going to suffer some strong misconceptions."

Unfortunately for the group, the gates are indeed locked, with a thick chain going around the thick bars, and secured with a large padlock. Although the gate, chain and lock all looked old, they are far from breakable.
The stone walls surrounding the graveyard however, is another story. Being probably much older than the gate itself, some parts of the wall had already broken away due to weathering. It wasn't very tall to begin with, maybe just about 8 feet in height. Perhaps they could find a spot with the most damage, and with help from fellow companions, it wouldn't be difficult to boost one across the wall to the other side. Thankfully the area is fairly secluded and quiet at the moment.
The needle points straight into the graveyard without wavering, indicating that there is a fel essence inside.

"No trouble at all," Claire replied with a small laugh and a wave, brows raising at the pack of supplies Lorenzo was carrying. She turned to survey the gates one more time with a frown - well, best to come prepared, and Lorenzo's profession did give him a slight edge here. "What kind of supplies?" Admittedly she was curious, as she only had a cursory knowledge of the arts from spare readings and a few former clients of her boss's (those memories felt like a lifetime ago). She glanced down at the compass in her hands while Lorenzo shared his doubts about breaking in, needle pointing straight into the cemetery. No matter their course of action, the destination was clear.
"Maybe a split would be best then," she mused aloud. "Lorenzo and I can try to find a caretaker or something." She squinted into the distance at the dilapidated church; there must be a guard shack somewhere close to there, if there had not been one on the drive up. At least with the Raevans, they were both rather young-looking in appearance and a caretaker that happened to catch them might go easier on them, over catching a woman in her mid-thirties and a professionally-dressed necromancer trespassing on the grounds. "If you both want to start here, we'll try to come in from the opposite side if we find someone, and if not..." Claire gave Lorenzo a half-smile with an apologetic shrug. "We'll continue in and meet up with you in the middle." She tapped her chin, trying to think of something else, but there was not much time to waste - daylight was precious, after all. For now, she smiled at the two Raevans and stepped forward towards Vesna and offered the compass. "Sorry this has to be how we first meet, Vesna, but thank you for your help. My name is Claire, by the way, it's wonderful to meet you."

Cesc was looking up at the gates, then looked over at the crumbling retaining walls around. As Vesna and Lorenzo approached, he was opening his mouth to suggest a leap over the wall, but then turned to welcome the duo. For a brief moment, the idea of the quest was forgotten as he watched Vesna come forward--she was unlike any Raevan he'd met before, with her striking eyes and coloring.
"Hi, Lorenzo--and Vesna, it's nice to meet you! I'm Rhedefre, but you can cal me Cesc, if you'd rather." Rhedefre smiled, putting out his hand to her.
As Claire made her suggestion, Rhedefre nodded, opening his wings wide. "That seems fair enough," he said. "Vesna and I could search in there, if you're up to that, Vesna. Ah, it's really too bad we have just the one compass…"
A tinge of frustration rose within him again at the idea of the split. If only he and Vesna didn't need the compass! If only he could feel something from the damn essence… Geez, was this what people felt when they lost their car keys or wallets? What a mess.

"Just the basics," Lorenzo replied. "Some first aid, some powdered blood in case I have to perform magic, some pre-drawn magic circles for various occasions, some friendly pamphlets about modern necromancy in case we attract any unfortunate misunderstandings, some birdseed to throw in the opposite direction in case we get attacked again, some snacks in case we get hungry, a compact mirror in case Vesna's breaks and she gets hungry, a safety lighter, some basic ritual candles, and some contracts in case anything unfortunate happens to anybody and they want to be resurrected." He rattled off the list in rote and reached into the hiking backpack to pull out some granola bars. "I'm keeping the snacks in the front pocket, so don't worry, it's nowhere near the dried blood."
Vesna rolled her eyes at Lorenzo, but took the compass from Claire eagerly, scrutinizing it for a moment and pouting a little to see that it was inarguably pointing into the cemetery. But if they had to go hang out in a cemetery, at least she got to lead the way. She looked up at her benefactor and smiled. "Nice to meet you!" she said, and nodded at Cesc in turn. "And it's nice to meet you, too, Cesc!" She took his hand in her gloved one and shook it daintily.
"Maybe Vesna should come with me instead," Lorenzo said, clearly reluctant to separate from Vesna again. He was still suffering from lingering guilt about being apart from her at the picnic.
But Vesna was all for the plan, especially if she got to hang out with Cesc, who looked cooler than anyone else in the group. Claire was nice, but in a mom way, and Cesc seemed just a little older than her, with the added advantage of being extremely pink. "I'll go with Cesc!" she volunteered eagerly. "I promise to be super safe. We can all swap numbers, and I can track our progress on Instagram!" She held up her phone and announced "I'm sailorvesna, and I follow back!"
Lorenzo couldn't argue that it would be less of a burden for Claire, and he realized that of all of them Claire was probably the person most likely to be able to convince a stranger to do them a favor. Vesna was charming, but she was still a floating torso.
He scrambled around in his bag. "At least take some birdseed," he insisted.

If they would approach the church, they would soon see that the church building itself is pretty dilapidated. Parts of it lying in ruin, and the thick wooden doors were chained shut as well. It seemed like the church and the graveyard are abandoned. It doesn't seem like they have much choice.
However, as they move though, they would realize that the needle is pointing at a particular section of the graveyard. Somewhere deep inside and near the walls of the church building, where a large oak tree is growing.

"Hmmm." Claire stood on tiptoes to peek into the broken-out windows of the old church. It had not taken them long to reach the building, but the closer they had come, the more her hopes of finding a caretaker faded. The chains and padlock on the front door were old but they were very solid, and a few good shakes of the door did not make it yield. She looked hopelessly at Lorenzo with a shrug as she lowered herself to stand fully on the stoop. "Sorry, Lorenzo, I think we're out of luck." She squinted over the grounds to spot the Raevans, but the graveyard sloped just enough to keep the other end from clear sight. She sighed. "Shall we take a look around here first and try to cut through?" She hopped down the stone stairs, crumbling at the corners, and set foot on the sprouting grass. There were all kinds of nooks and crannies they could check out, and one particularly large oak that was settled comfortably against the western side of the building, branches just visible above the curve of the roof. She fished the phone from her pocket and shot off a quick message to Vesna - "Found no caretaker, we're checking around first and then we'll meet you in the middle" - and then, after a moment of curiosity, opened the Instagram app to see if Vesna had posted any updates.
An idea occurred to her as Claire's eyes rested on Vesna's Instagram moniker (while she did not quite get the choice of "sailorvesna" as a username, it was certainly much more creative than her own, which was simply "claireholmes84" and very Uncute) and she tapped once and leveled her phone at the tree. It snapped a quick photo, and deciding to forego any filters, she posted it with a quick caption and an attached tag for Vesna: "And so it begins."

Cesc grinned when Vesna offered an Instagram handle as one of her points of contact--her looks certainly belied her... Cesc tried to think of a good word for it. Pep? Spunk? Plucky enthusiasm? Whatever it was. It was nice, he liked it, and it made him generally feel like a few pounds had been taken off the general atmosphere.
"Good call," he said, taking out his phone and adding her to his friends' list. "Added you for later, I'm 'yeahifoundit'. Kind of fitting for now, I guess."
Or... ironic.
As the other two went off in one direction, Cesc and Vesna went in theirs. Cesc floated a little slower than he otherwise might, to keep an eye on the surroundings and Vesna's compass. He asked her about her interests, her Instagram, and then her handle as they started off, floating politely around some graves as they went.
"Sailor Vesna, so you're a magical girl, ah? Fighting crime while staying cute and true to your friends, all that?" He prompted as they went. The compass certainly seemed to be pointing true in their direction, toward the church where Lorenzo and Claire had gone. There was a gnarled, giant tree in between, one part of it scarred from an old storm.
The whole place was relatively creepy, though, and Cesc tried to think of most of the fel essences he knew off the top of his head. Not many were really dangerous, honestly...
...well, except for that one...

"Yeah!" Vesna said, punching the air playfully and almost dropping the compass as she floated through the dilapidated cemetery with Cesc. "I don't have many friends to be true to yet or anything though. So I wanted to make at least ten today, but then all those birds came and everyone split up. This is the first time I've really been outside and hung out with people. Oh! But I already knew Eden because she came to visit me! She's my best friend." She looked at Cesc and asked, "We can be friends, right? We're following each other on Instagram now, soooo..."
She didn't seem at all unnerved by the eerieness of the cemetery as she snapped pictures of landmarks to tag Claire in on Instagram. She snapped one such picture and lowered her phone, pouting. "Ugh, this place is so boring. Can I take a picture of you?" She raised her phone to do so before he could answer, but was interrupted by a notification. "Ah! Claire tagged us in something."
Opening the notification, she showed Cesc a picture of a tree. "That looks like that one over there, right?" she said. "The compass is pointing there anyway, so let's go get them." She quickly texted Lorenzo and beckoned Cesc over.
Soon after Claire tagged Vesna, Lorenzo's phone buzzed, and he pulled it out of his pocket, struggling a little to navigate around all his supplies. "Vesna says the compass is pointing this way anyway," he said. "We might not have to break into the cemetery."

Oh they would soon found out how wrong they were, as the walls of the graveyard go all around and connects to the church's walls. It seemed like the only way into the graveyard was either through the locked up gates they encountered earlier, or through a door from inside the church.
However, just slightly hidden around a corner near the church, there is a large break in the wall, where it had fallen apart enough that they could both see into the graveyard within without even needing to tip toe. It seems to be a break in point for a lot of kids as well, as the walls of the church just behind the wall was vandalized with gang tags and graffiti that you could barely call art.
As they approached the oak tree though, they were greeted by a beautiful stone statue of an angel, with wings open and hands put together in prayer. The headstone reads "Here lies Father Patrick", who had passed away over a hundred years ago. In front of the statue is a large bed of clovers, a rich, beautiful emerald green color. And it is at this bed of clovers that the needle is pointing to.
