Lieutenant Tourmaline clutched her sides as she tried to catch her breath, the bout of laughter that threatened to consume her making it all that much harder to do so. Aluminite was catching up to her-- His stride was longer and when he was distracted he wasn't nearly as clumsy as when he was thinking too hard about things. "I can't," she laughed, gasping as she dropped the energy orbs that she'd been tightly hanging on to in the impromptu game of 'keep away' she had started. Maybe if he saw the orbs he'd focus on them... Maybe. Tourmaline could hear footsteps closing in and she straightened herself out, ducking around the corner of the building to lean back against the alley wall. It was the closest to 'sneaky' that she could be at this point. If he hadn't heard her heavy breathing he was certain to hear her laughter and she didn't have much control over either currently.

This wasn't what Aluminite had been expecting when Tourmaline hit him up for a patrol. Of course, he wasn't sure what he was expecting but having to chase after her hadn't been it. It wasn't something he'd complain about though because there was something appealing in the way the brunette laughed as she bound away.
Besides, if he caught her then he could demand a prize. Or request one, which was more likely than him demanding anything. And maybe there was a part of the man that enjoyed chasing her.
Of course, her spilling her energy orbs gave her general location away and the lieutenant strode across the pavement at a brisk pace, cheeks flushed from the game before he caught sight of her ducking around a corner. It wasn't long before he joined her, one hand reaching for the upper part of one of her arms to keep her from dashing and the other pressing flat against the brick when he put himself directly in front of her.
"Caught you," he breathed, chest heaving and green eyes half lidded while his mouth was stretched into a happy grin. "What do I win?"

"You..." she puffed out a breath, spring green eyes bright as she met his gaze. "You get your energy orbs back?" The words fell from her mouth softly, her face flushed. It was the first thing to come to mind-- No, it was the safest thing that came to mind. It... Sometimes when she stopped running she remembered that when Aluminite was right there she couldn't think straight. It wasn't fair and she didn't know what to do about it. Why couldn't she stop staring at him? His eyes were such a nice shade of green and his lips... Katrina swallowed, closing her eyes as she tried to gather her thoughts and even out her breath. "You're getting faster, Lieutenant. It didn't take you nearly as long to catch me this time..."

"They're all over the ground by us but - " Aluminite trailed off, clearly distracted by the flush of her cheeks and the way her gaze met his. His heart beat in an off-tempo rhythm that was too fast, even after the physical exertion. "I'm a little more interested in something else."
He'd forgotten that getting back his quota was the purpose of Tourmaline fleeing from him but - he much preferred catching the girl and keeping her to the prospect of picking up all those orbs. If they rolled too far away or broke, well, he'd just have collect more.
His eyes might have dropped to her lips and his eyes might've gone half-lidded when he leaned forward but her eyes shut and it seemed to shatter the illusion. He swallowed, pulled back slightly though he was still inclined towards her having to bend so that they were more level.
"I'm starting to think that you like it when I chase you Tourmaline," he said slowly, licking his lips before worrying down on the bottom one. "I like it better when you call me Wonder Boy."
Lieutenant sounded so impersonal.

Tourmaline brought one gloved hand up to rest against his chest. She could feel his heart beating beneath her fingertips and she wondered for a moment whether or not he could hear hers. Her hand lingered there for a moment, fingertips lightly twitching against fabric as though they didn't know whether or not they should be grasping at it to pull him closer or pushing to shove him away. They did neither. Her hand dropped back down to her side as he leaned back, soft smirk tugging the corners of her lips. She opened her eyes to peer at him again just in time to catch the way his mouth was moving, teeth tugging at his lips and-- God, it really wasn't fair just how good looking he was when he did that. "I like the chase-- Why do you think I race?" Her smirk took on a slightly more teasing glint as she straightened herself out. "Ever think about it yourself? The rush? Looks like it got you going tonight, Wonderboy."

It was only the second 'not-date' so Aluminte really shouldn't be as in Tourmaline's space as he was but he was struggling with what he wanted to do verse what his rational mind was telling him to do. Reluctantly he let go of her arm and stepped back, pushing sweaty locks of hair back from his forehead as he sighed.
It wasn't fair that she could look so kissable just by the way she was trapped against the wall.
It was too tempting and he needed to put space between them quickly, lest he do something he - they - weren't ready yet. The man had told her that he could be patient and he would be. Besides, he went the 90 and she didn't go the ten which meant either she didn't want it or it wasn't time.
And it was probably better if he took her on an actual date before he tried to kiss her.
"I don't - I like adrenaline rushes but racings always been out of my league." He couldn't afford that, not with his student loans and housing. "I'd rather watch this beautiful girl I know race, or even saddle up behind her. Who says guys can't enjoy being the one to snuggle up behind a girl?" He teased, kneeling to gather up the energy orbs he'd dropped. "Besides, there are ways to find rushes."

Tourmaline tilted her head to watch him while trying to figure him out. Was it really just that simple? Compliments without complications? Don't jinx it, Kat. She shook her head, picking up one of the orbs and vanishing it into her pocket before snagging another to hand back over to him. "You skateboard, though-- Tell me more about that? Know any tricks or is it just the most convenient mode of transportation?" Skateboarding had never been something that she was all that good at. She did enjoy going to the skate park to watch, though. "Tell me more about you, Wonderboy. Y'know, one of my friends has a practice bike if you think you'd ever want to give it a go. I'd like to take mine for a ride, but... My bike doesn't have as many lives as I do," she teased easily, fingers brushing lightly against his arm before she straightened herself back out.

"Longboard," Aluminite corrected automatically then winced immediately after. "Sorry, it's different? Longboarding is more for travel where skateboards are more for tricks?" He rose slowly, scratched at the back of his head. "I mean - I can do tricks they're just a lot more basic but - Have you seen the Secret Life of Walter Mitty?"
That movie had a great longboarding scene.
"It's really got this really great scene and if you haven't seen it then we should watch it - " he rambled ears going red again when he just stopped abruptly, reaching for the hand that brushed against his arm.
"I'm afraid I'm rather boring. Most of my time is devoted to schoolwork or," he waved a hand towards his uniform, "this." Of course he did have one other time stealer. "Well and Gatsby, when my sister isn't being an angel and taking care of him."

"Is it anything like the Secret Life of Walter Kitty?" Her brow lofted into a hopeful expression although it was entirely unlikely that they had made a movie based off of her favorite Little Golden Book. The short answer to his question should have been mostly clear at that point, however. No, she hadn't seen the movie he was referencing-- A tragedy they might have to remedy. "Schoolwork, Negawork... A mysterious 'him' named Gatsby and a sister. So much on your plate, Aluminite. Probably a good thing we're combining not-dates with quota then. Wouldn't want to take up too much more of your time..." Except for where she would, possibly... Yes? Wasn't that what she was already doing? "So what's a Gatsby? Outside of the Great Gatsby." She'd watched that one specifically for Leonardo DiCaprio.

He looked confused at her response and slowly shook his head. "I don't think so? I'm not sure I know what the Secret Life of Walter Kitty is." Was it a kids show, was it a book, or something else entirely? It'd been so long since he'd even thought about children's books that it hadn't crossed his mind.
Of course, he'd been reading books like the Lord of the Flies since he was four. Literature was a big thing in the Cheney household.
"I make time for the important things, people," He told her quietly unable to help the way he stepped into her space. "And I'm not sure if I could think of better way to spend my time than with you." Maybe it was the adrenaline high he was still riding that was pushing him to be a little more forward. He had in breathe in deeply to calm himself, to keep from being too rash, too forward.
"Gatsby is my dog, I got him when I was taking photos of the animals for the shelter's website and well - he'd been there for a long time and had too much energy and - I adopted him before all of this while I was coping with space things."
The surrounding ******** him up.

Tourmaline's heart skipped a beat when she stepped back only to have her shoulders bump against the alley wall. He was doing that thing again where he said words and-- Her knees felt like they were going to stop working. Her hands came up slowly between them, hesitating before coming to rest lightly on his chest. "You never did tell me about the space things. You mentioned it when we were at CatFe, but it seemed like it was something that dealt with stuff that shouldn't have been talked about in public places. Is-- Is it something you want to talk about?" While she wasn't always good at the whole listening thing, she was certainly willing to try. Maybe going somewhere and talking would make a good distraction. It had to be better than standing in an alley trying not to play with the golden buttons on his jacket while also trying very hard not to meet his gaze while touching his coat.

Green eyes dropped to the hands against his chest and he wondered what he should do with his own hands. He settled with bracing himself with one palm against the wall so he could lean in slightly and let the other hang at his side to let her slip free as she pleased. If she continued to play with his jacket buttons, gold catching the light of the streetlamp here and there against the pale green, then that was fine.
"It's not - It's complicated and confusing. I don't -" He didn't know how to explain that what he remembered and what other people remembered were not the same. Or how he explained that he got turned into a bunch of different colors while in space then ultimately died, only to float around the surrounding as a ghost who came back for the final stand off and suddenly lived again.
"How do you talk about the time you died and were magically resurrected with everyone else that had also died?" He asked softly, sighing even softer. There were no true support groups for things like that, even if there'd been a list of those who'd gone missing. He'd tried once, to reach out to them with his blog but - it hadn't ended well and he hadn't recognized anyone he met.
And now - now he'd learned that he should've been one of them. One of the knights who protected the surrounding and what was he? He was a knight of Metallia, she'd saved them. Or had she?
It hurt his head.
"How do you talk about how you'd serve the princess of the place you'd died if you weren't serving the entity you've got now?"

Tourmaline shifted, lifting herself up just a bit as he leaned in so that she could meet his gaze. Her heart was still pounding in her chest again; the same sort of thrill she got from hopping on her bike for a race. Her eyes held his as he spoke, watching for some sort of sign that he might not be serious about what he was saying; that he might have somehow been trying to pull her chain and see just what she would be willing to believe. There were no tells that he was lying. No twitching lips, no gleaming eyes... Just confusion. "The answer is you don't," she spoke softly, leaning in just a little bit closer to him. "If it doesn't make sense, just let it go. Talk about who you are now, instead of who you might have been-- Forget the princess. She's in another castle, Wonderboy, and you've got me right here... And the Pack," she added on quickly, although probably not quickly enough to make it seem like she was really trying to include the rest of General Labyrinthite's team in the current discussion.

It was hard to keep from letting his gaze drift down to her mouth, to be too aware of how little space was between thing. He swallowed when she leaned closer, licked his lips to wet them as he inhaled sharply. "Hey," he said lowly, body swaying forward and that loose hanging hand reached for her cheek, touched it gingerly with his fingers slipping beneath her jaw, "you asked."
He wished it was as easy as Tourmaline made it sound like it could be but -
The surrounding had shaped him and well, he'd been wondering for a while if he was on the wrong side. He didn't voice any of that because he was too focused on her proximity, the color of her lips that he couldn't keep from looking at if he tried.
"It's not that simple but - if you want me to focus on you, I can do that," he said, elbow bending as he started to close that space between them. "If you want me, you've got me kit," he mumbled, just before his head tipped and there was no more space between them, with Aluminite going in for the kiss.

His fingers brushed against her cheek, tilting her head up, and her hands pressed more firmly against his chest. When his lips touched hers she didn't pull back, or push him away, instead using the hands already settled on his chest to grasp at his coat. She drew him more firmly into the kiss using that hold, pressing her lips back against his. Despite her grip on his uniform, the kiss itself was soft as she returned it; light and teasing like the young woman it came from. It was only held for a moment before she drew back, lightly touching her nose to his. Within seconds she was regretting the premature parting of their lips and she found herself leaning in to kiss him again.
