This is a private RP between my Kittredge and Xerxes. No posting please. Note: Treacle is her mouse. Creampuff is her rabbit. Note: A wild jackass.

Kittredge was singing jovially as she helped Creampuff and Treacle set out tea cups. She had run into the most marvelous company of traders that morning, or that’s what she thought they were. If not traders than thieves but either way she had gotten a good bargain on leaves for tea. It had only cost her all the quills off a porcupine that she’d killed. It had been bullying Treacle and Creampuff and Kittredge wouldn’t stand by and let her fellows suffer. Truth be told, she’d been happy to part with the quills, they were an unpleasant reminder of bad things and tea was a reminder of happy things. It was just a shame that they didn’t have any cake for their little party.
Once the last of the cups was set up right Kittredge went to check on the leaves she’d put in a thinly woven cloth bag and left steeping in a bowl of hot water. Making the tea drinkable was always a bit of a trick. First the three had to find a way to make a fire or steal some from one already going which was not easy for a mouse, a rabbit, and a soquili. Somehow they always managed though, and today was no different. The tea was ready. Taking the handle of her teapot in her mouth Kit submerged the pot into the large bowl of tea to fill it. Once full, she removed the teapot and set it on the ground for Creampuff to wipe it clean.
“Tea time!” Kit announced before taking the pot again to fill the cups on the table.

Xerxes had been freed from his island prison recently. It had been far from a pleasant rescue and he still found himself quietly cursing the mare that had secured his freedom. Not only had she chosen to be far too rough with him in her efforts but she had also failed to deposit him near anything even remotely resembling civilization. His legs were covered from hoof to knee with the muck he’d been forced to walk through and his mane was full of tangles and twigs. Xerxes didn’t even want to think about the state that his tail was in. He came from fine stock and yet here he was looking about as ratty as his younger sister always looked. He scowled at himself. How far he had fallen to be comparing himself to that creature.
It would take too many baths to count to clean himself of the unflattering comparison. Thought at the moment he would settle for just one to get the grime out of his coat. Why had their mother ever brought them out this far from civilization anyway? Wouldn’t it have been just as effective to go visit the wilderness on holiday and then return to their human keepers? Instead she’d moved them away entirely without any explanation at all. Had she been caught up in the stories she’d heard about the beauty of the wilderness just as he’d been captured by stories of mermaids? It wouldn’t have surprised him. For all that she was a refined mare she had a soft spot for stories just as he did.
He grumbled to himself and shook his head. Perhaps he’d just have to go back himself and find a skilled human keeper. He was a grown stallion, after all, he didn’t have to stay where his mother wanted him just because she wished it so. He could find a nice human that new how to make a decent cup of tea that had plenty of time to brush his coat until it was the color of the sky and not the color of mud. One that knew how to properly care for his mane to keep it soft like silk and one that wouldn’t disturb the delicate scales on his wings. He sighed wistfully, that would be the ideal life.
“Though I’d settle for a cup of tea and a long soak right now.” He grumbled to himself not paying any attention to where he was heading. It still looked like forest to him. Since that wasn’t where he wanted to be, he kept moving forward. If Xerxes had bothered to take in the sights around him he might have noticed that he was not alone and that his cup of tea was far closer than he realized.

It was the most curious thing. Kit had finished pouring the tea into all the empty cups and had been wishing for more company. She had far more teacups than people and while that meant more tea it also meant less conversation. Conversation sounded delightful at the moment and neither of her companions spoke. Just as she had started wishing that her sisters were pleasant to tell her stories or ask riddles a perfect stranger had stumbled upon her tea party.
He had a vague sort of expression on his face as though he wasn’t really there. Kit wondered if he was just busy looking at something too far away to see but it didn’t really matter. What did matter was that he seemed to be in the mood for tea and she happened to have tea already made.
“Excuse me! Mr. Insect!” She called joyously with a wide grin spread across her face. Her tail swished cheerfully behind her unwinding and vanishing in spirals of color. “If you would like some tea we have cups here! Tell us a story and join us!”
