Gael padded along through the Nergui lands, his tail swishing as he walked. There were new orders that were being given out and he was glad for it - with so much silence from Graos Oma regarding anything as of late, he had been starting to get antsy as had everyone else. Was something wrong? Were they not pleasing their leader any longer? He felt as though the last hunt he had not been a part of had been successful and should have warranted more missions, but for the longest time there was nothing but silence.

Now, though. Now there were orders and he was glad to act upon them. They were to move their location from the barren wasteland to abandoned ruins that were once the home of a pride of lions. He was curious to see what had been left behind, if anything, although he knew that they were going there to look for more relics left by the gods. He hoped one or two might be lingering in the area. He had yet to see a god and that displeased him greatly, especially when there was so much success in the last encounter with one.

He wanted some of the glory for himself, for sure. Having battle scars and things to boast about were certainly required in the Nergui, but not only that, he hoped it might catch the attention of Gren. Nothing he did aside from bringing her to the flowers a few days past seemed to get her to open up. Now, though...now he felt like he was getting somewhere.

Tossing his head as he walked to fix his mane that had fallen in his eyes, Gael surveyed the land. It was barren, bleak, and he was surprised they had stayed in the area for as long as they had. Still, it was home and had been for quite some time and he would be a bit sad to leave it. Bigger and better things waited them and he was sure they wouldn't ever be far from returning, but still. The thought of leaving it all behind for the time being marked a huge change in his life.

Perhaps it would be a change for the better, he thought to himself as he reached his den. He pawed a few thorns out of the way before heading inside to clear it out from the bones and rocks he had collected over the years. With the change of scenery perhaps a new beginning was in order. He could leave behind the frustrations of this place, being told to stay home during missions to protect the lands from attacks that never came. No one in their right minds, even the Firekin, would attack the Nergui home base. That was a suicide mission that no one cared to even try.

With the move he hoped he'd be more aggressive and assertive when being assigned tasks. If there was something he didn't want to do, he'd be like every other Nergui and say 'no'. Perhaps he'd even get into a scrap or two. He wouldn't mind moving up the ranks, truth be told, and the only way to do that was to prove he wasn't a pushover.

Nudging the debris out of his den, Gael looked out to the horizon where they'd be heading of to soon. He let out a little huff and smirked, imagining his future. A new rank, perhaps. Gren by his side. It was a future he was except and even a bit nervous about. Hopefully everything would pan out and end in his favor.
