This is a private RP for my Tadaaki and his dragon-otter familiar Mokutan. No posting without permission please. ((Lat and Roni: If you want the siblings to invade Tadaaki's happy quiet time please let me know!))

The sun was sitting high in the sky as Tadaaki made his way through the thick mountain forest that made up his home. His footsteps were silent even though he trod upon the remnants of old snow fall and sodden leaves that had fallen from the limbs of trees last fall. The trees were still bare of leaves but his keen eye could make out the first signs of new growth on the branches. Before long the trees would be in full bloom and he and his family would all gather to view them and drink fine teas bought from traders that ventured through these parts. It was Tadaaki’s favorite time of year, everything felt complete when the trees came back to life.
He sighed wistfully. All the thoughts of things to come forced him to remember that they were not yet here. “And I had been enjoying my stroll too.” Tadaaki murmured to himself. There was little point in continuing it now, though. His serenity had been disrupted by his own eagerness. It was unfortunate but there were other ways he could spend his day.
Turning away from the winding mountain trail he’d been following, Tadaaki picked a short path that would lead him directly back to his family’s home. It was clear when he was drawing near because he could see a few traps her and there that had been set up by his fathers and oldest sister. They were easy to avoid for those that knew the proper paths but he imagined any intruders would find them most unpleasant. A quick glance told him that these were not the sort that would draw blood but they would snag an intruder and hold them for a time. His fathers would never allow for bloodshed so close to the kirin and Tadaaki was grateful for it. Just the thought of blood was enough to make Tadaaki feel nauseous.
He wove his way past the traps and into the clearing that made up their home. Several animal pelts were laid out over the branches of trees. Tadaaki caught no scent coming off of them but he could see that there were wet. His fathers must have finally realized that the furs were beginning to stink and had washed them. Tadaaki smiled to himself. Excellent, he’d started dreaming about setting the foul things on fire as the winter had drawn to a close, now he didn’t have to upset his fathers and sisters by doing such a thing.
Looking away from the pelts Tadaaki scanned the area for signs of his black dragon. He found her shaking the dirt off of one of the blankets Tadaaki used for bedding. She hadn’t noticed his presence yet.
“Mokutan.” Tadaaki said moving towards the creature that was somewhat like a giant otter if not for the horns and long hairs that grew down her spine, along her cheeks, and on her tail. The dragon jumped and turned around still clutching the cloth in her hands. Tadaaki kept a stoic face as he brushed past her and lay down gracefully on what remained of his blankets and cushions. Spring cleaning did leave his bed somewhat sparse.
“Mokutan, my mane has gotten a bit tussled, could you brush it out for me?” He asked with great dignity. Mokutan was his personal servant and confidant. Both he and Reiko had received one when they were children to look after their well-being. Reiko tended to use hers as a buffer against outsiders but Tadaaki was far happier having an assistant to help him keep up his luxurious lifestyle.
