Name: Thertia or Tia.
Stage: Apprentice
Race: Pure-blooded Alkidike
Gender: Girl

3 Base Traits: Leader, Restless, Adventurous,

Personality:

Leader: Thertia has developed leadership qualities which have grown drastically since she began dancing. Dancing has helped her make new friends and mature into a young Alkidike who can make responsible decisions that others will follow. She wants to be a positive influence on others, so much so she never gives up even when she is the last person standing. Thertia is also willing to step out of her comfort zone, for the common good of the people if needed. She is always the first to initiate an advance regardless of the situation, and that is why people depend on and follow her.

Restless: A restless desire for change and excitement, Thertia has a hard time staying in one place for a long period of time. She gets agitated when asked to hold still, and starts to fidget and twitch excessively when she wants to get something done but cannot. This in turn causes it to be especially hard for Tia to thoroughly commit to a task, because she is always on the move! This flaw can also make Thertia get inadequate sleep at night, and hence make her a bit temperamental in the morning!

Adventurous: Thertia is extremely adventurous, and loves to live on the edge without boundaries or restrictions. She tends to throw caution to the wind, and ventures where most fear not to trend; because Tia does not have the same fears and concerns that limit other people. This has caused Thertia on more than one occasion, to test her own mortality…

Loud: Even from a distance one can hear Thertia loud and clear, as she has a hard time controlling her volume when she speaks. This causes Tia to disturb others easily, and usually gets her a shush or two within a few minutes. However, once Thertia is told her booming voice is too loud, she is usually able to compose herself and talk in a reasonable tone.

Supportive: When it comes to being supportive Therita loves to assist other Alkidike or mislead Earthlings when needed. She is an astounding listener, and can empathize wholeheartedly with the person she is speaking with on a deeper level. This in turn allows Tia to give needed positive feedback on the situation allowing her to make the person feel better. She is always there for people when they are in trouble regardless of the hour, and is happy doing so.

Emotional: Thertia can get very emotional when it comes to things that are very important to her. This fact can cause Tia to overreact in a situation and can also cause her to underact as well. She can’t take criticism, and Thertia will become very emotional if she makes a bad decision. Sometimes Thertia can become so emotional she becomes inconsolable, and at this point it’s best to leave her alone.

Description: Even among the Alkidike Thertia is considered to be much taller than average for her kind. Her body is athletic and toned from dancing and she has ample breasts. On her face Tia wears teal warpaint from her forehead to the middle of her nose, on her right forearm, and on her left thigh to distinguish herself. Thertia has long ebony dreadlocks that she adorns with beautiful gold beads, feathers, ribbons, and large gold hoop attachments at the end of her hair. She also has two large ebony eyes with full eyelashes, and her pointed ears are pierced with multiple piercings. [x]

Clothing: Never one to wear much clothing, but she wears a detailed bralette, loincloth, and a see through teal covering that covers her shoulders and touches the ground.

Accessories: Thertia wears a very short padaung ring around her neck.

History: As the only lotus born to her Mother on Chibale Island, Thertia bloomed early and reached her developmental milestones remarkably quickly. She excelled intellectually and sought out knowledge, even as she played alone as a Youngling. Tia especially enjoyed exploring on her own, only to return to ask her Mother a multitude of questions, which her Mother answered to the best of her ability.

Thertia continued to excel so much so that by her tenth birthday her Mother didn't know what to do with her anymore, so she allowed her to start joining taming hunts per her request. This caused Tia to become an excellent hunter with a talent for tracking, and a knack for survival as she grew older. However, while Thertia was out and about hunting or playing alone, she didn't learn proper social skills so her mannerisms suffered, until her parents decided to show her tribal dancing so Tia could make some friends. Since that life altering moment Thertia has been dancing, and her social skills and mannerisms have improved drastically. She has since made numerous good friends with the other dancers, as dance taught her dedication, perseverance, positive self image, discipline, and teamwork with the other Alkidike which developed her personality traits.

Now sixteen years old, Thertia has become a skilled dancer and uses her knowledge to teach dance to the younglings which look up to her as their mentor. Tia has become their leader and the younglings all follow Therita and her instructions, and at times Tia will also lead this group of younglings outside of the village to teach them tracking and survival skills. During Therita’s down time however, Tia likes to practice dancing with wooden dual blades with others her age as she has hopes to become a Sacred Heart in the future.

Thertia has never been agreeable to what the Banished Alkidike did or their thoughts on the Earthlings, as Tia does not believe that she is better than anyone else. This mindset Thertia came to have when she was teaching the younglings and met a Hybrid who was just as capable as everyone else. This Hybrid reminded her a lot of herself because they had a natural curiosity just like she did when she was a youngling. Since then, Thertia has had a calling to help the weaker Alkidike’s which Tia points in the right direction. All in all, Thertia believes that she has excelled so far because Aisha wishes for her to help the Earthlings as well.

Thertia sounds well-balanced and interesting, so far! I love the detail and interconnection of her personality traits. Her history feels a little slim at the moment though - does she have any siblings, or is she an only child? How old was she when her mothers began letting her go out on these hunts? It sounds like this happened before her "teenage" years, based on the way you ordered things, but you also mention her becoming an excellent hunter, and that seems a stretch for someone that young, even if they are getting practice in early. Somehow I missed the "five years old" bit, but robo already addressed that as being too young, which just leaves the question of how much it gets bumped up to.

Also, you say that "while Thertia was out and about hunting, she didn't learn proper social skills so her mannerisms suffered" but you also say that she's a natural leader and people depend on and follow her. How do her social skills interplay with her leadership abilities? Is it primarily that she overcomes her awkwardness through dancing? Or that, while she is awkward in some ways, she manages to overcome that in times that call for quick action and need a leading figure?

Just some points of curiosity to get you started. =D She sounds really fun so far and well thought through.

For personality you have her as a leader and mention people follow her: is this a group of friends she has? If so how did she get to be the leader?

"So much so that by her fifth birthday her parents didn't know what to do with her, so they allowed her to start joining hunts "
Just an fyi: 5 years old is far too young to go hunting. They age a lot like us; 10 years I can see being allowed on some simple tamer hunts.. but not 5. The Blades and Warriors of the tribe would not accept taking a child along with them that young.

How did she reach that developmental stage so fast?

As such: what did she do in her younger years before learning to hunt? Something must have occupied her time!

Also what uke said on leadership and poor social skills.

Where does she live? Is she on Chibale Island or in Juahur? Both are areas Alks live in great numbers.

What are her thoughts on the extremists and their banishment? She is a teenager now so she would have been around when they decided to invade sauti and then got kicked out. Extremists are a mixture of hybrid haters, earthling haters, or alk supremacists. Or they did it since the oldest mystic said they should and that Aisha said that the land all belonged to them.

Welcome to Tendaji <3

Uke and Robo bring up some good questions, and I would definitely like to know more about her history as well as like Uke said with how does her poor social skills effect her leadership trait but also just in general with building relationships like friends?

Thank you for the critique The Only Black Uke! When I first created Thertia I was originally going to quest for her as a Youngling and then decided a few days ago to quest for a Prentice, so I added additional information to Tia. I believe this added information might not have been extensive enough to explain Thertia properly. With that said I will now answer all of your questions and make changes to Thertia's history as necessary!

1.) I envisioned Thertia as an only child and I will add that tidbit of information to Tia’s history.

2.) I had Tia joining hunting parties at five years old, as it was common for children in past history to do so. However, after reading robot kitten’s critique I have decided to change this to ten years old to follow the storyline of Tendaji.

3.) “This caused Tia to become an excellent hunter with a talent for tracking, and a knack for survival.” What I meant with this sentence is that Thertia became an excellent hunter with a talent for tracking, and a knack for survival later on as an Prentice.

4.) “However, while Thertia was out and about hunting, she didn't learn proper social skills so her mannerisms suffered, until her parents decided to show her tribal dancing.” This sentence was explaining Thertia as a Youngling and then growing into a Prentice. Once Tia started dancing that is when more of her traits developed, so I will add more information on that in her history.

Thank you for the critique robot kitten, and I have some answers to your questions that I hope are satisfactory!

1.) I envisioned Thertia as a tribal dancing instructor to the Younglings, and as she matured and the Younglings matured these Younglings in the future follow Tia.

2.) As I mentioned to Uke I will change her age to ten years old to follow the storyline of Tendaji.

3.) When I was envisioning Therita I was picturing a gifted child. There are children out there that excel intellectually at an early age.

4.) I’m going to update my history on Therita to included that she enjoyed playing outside alone.

5.) Please see above for my response to Uke.

6.) Therita will be from Chibale Island.

7.) Thertia doesn't follow the extremists or their beliefs and ideals.

Thank you!

I have answered both The Only Black Uke and robot kitten, and have edited and added additional information to Thertia's personality traits and history on the topic of her poor social skills and leadership trait.

Thanks for the answers! Just curious about a few more things~

For the hunting thing: I did a bit of research and kids would hep with traps or fishing, but game hunting would be restricted to older teenagers and adults. So if you want to add in that her parents used trap making and fishing to keep her occupied (both tasks they could be around for and keep a eye on the kid) till she was old enough for actual hunting I'd be down with that.

So how did she become a leader? Did her personality win over the other kids? This is a group of Alkidikes; they are raised to be very warlike and I would see many others with leader like personalities who might butt heads with her... did any of this happen as a kid or as an apprentice? Are the freinds she made really good friends or are they all a kept-at-a-distance-sorta-friends-more-like-minions an alpha type might have? Did she have any rivals in dancing or hunting?

So she doesn't follow the extremists: but does she feel superior to earthlings at all? Or to her sisters who are less talented?

When you say war paint, you mean she wears paint as well as having her markings? Is there a reason she chooses to use war paint? Does she think it accents her marking, or makes her stand out from the others, etc?

You say her mannerisms improved after beginning to dance and she now has numerous friends. How did this change come to be? What were the advances in her mannerisms? Was it hard at first to break out of what she used to be? Did it take years to build up her friendships?

What are her thoughts on her being "gifted"? Does it reflect on how she views others? Does it make her cocky or full of herself or make her think she knows better than others?

The alkidike are a rough and tumble kind of race. More fighting oriented than anything else. Why would her parents introduce her to dancing? How does her dancing effect her reputation with the other Alkidike? Would they think that she isn't very well prioritized, putting enough time into dancing to become skilled (and on top of that have enough time to teach younglings), rather than focusing that on training?

"What are her thoughts on the extremists and their banishment? She is a teenager now so she would have been around when they decided to invade sauti and then got kicked out. This was a question from Robo but I would really like to see more of her thoughts about the situation and how the extremists effected her life on Chibale or her thoughts about how their image reflected on the Alkidike.

And on the topic of her thoughts of other groups. How does she feel about earthlings?
