Spring was one of the worst times of the year…followed closely by summer. Summer was too damn hot, but spring…spring had pollen. And pollen was one of lifes biggest…worst…things ever. Lavender had spent the last month in an allergy filled haze, sneezing and coughing, her eyes watering so much that her makeup was nearly impossible to do. It was the absolute worst.
So clearly the way to deal with overwhelming sniffles and sneezes was with the best thing that spring came with…ice cream. Wonderful, delicious ice cream.
Lavender looked…not as fab as she was used to looking, but still, the allure of a cone topped with vanilla ice cream and maybe some sprinkles allowed her to overlook the fact that her eyes were as red as a fire truck, and her nose was about the same shade.
One day, spring would end. But then the dreaded summer would begin…and it would be hot. Hot. Hotter than hot.
Ugh. Lavender paused, scrunching her face up as she felt a sneeze building. Oh no. This was going to be a big one. And boy oh boy was it ever. The sneeze made her stumble a few steps backwards, right into another person. Great. Socialization when she felt like poop. “Oh gosh I’m sorry. So sorry. Did I hurt you?”

As pollen and allergens attacked her sensitive sight and.. basically all her senses, Annabelle could only groan miserably and pull a tissue out of the pocket of her skirt and sneezed three times, rather rapidly. She had taken her allergy medication and yet nothing is working. She hadn't even worn make up today because she knew her eyes were going to run and she didn't want to look like a raccoon. Filthy trash bandits. As she stood to shove the used tissue in her pocket after folded it carefully, someone else had sneezed and managed to stumble into her. Annabelle let out a high pitched noise as she moved forward and then sniffled and turned around, shaking her head. "No!" Though it sounded more like d'oh. "No. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have stopped..." She sniffled a little more and then took a deep breath. "Allergies are kicking my butt and making me stop to try to breath." The smile Annabelle gave the other one was sheepish. She wished she were wearing make-up. The scar right across her face looked nasty without it.

Lavender looked at the girl she had run into, and after assessing the situation…and seeing that the other girl seemed to be suffering from the same blasted allergies that she was suffering from…she burst into laughter.
Maybe it was because she was slightly drugged up form three or four different allergy medicines, or maybe it was because she just felt so…awful. But she continued laughing until she couldn’t breathe, her eyes leaking tears of mirth.
“Oh…oh gosh you look…you look as miserable as I feel!” She wasn’t sure why she felt this was so funny, but it was, and when she had finally gotten control over herself, she looked even worse. “I am so…so sorry for laughing…do you want Ice Cream? I’ll buy. I’m sorry for running into you and oh gosh.”
With a shaking hand, Lavender wiped at her eyes, giving a last few week chuckles. “I have no idea why that was so funny. I am so sorry. I have been dead from this damn pollen for weeks now. It’s getting so old. I hate the spring.”

"Thanks, I guess," Annabelle sighed, resisting the urge to snort. That'd be totally gross and she didn't feel like being gross in front of people. She did, however, sniffle and groan. Ugh, everything was too bright. There there was an ice cream offer suddenly and Annabelle blinked before laughing openly. "Oh! I hadn't expected that... Ah, sure. Yeah. Ice cream sounds amazing right now." Annabelle pushed her hair out of her eyes and smiled at the girl as best as she could. "Ugh, it's fine. I'm being attacked by it as we speak. It's the devil." She cleared her throat and flashed a grin. "I'm Annabelle Leigh. I figure it'd be best to introduce ourselves?"

“I’m Lavender.” The girl flashed a grin and motioned for Annabelle to follow her into the ice cream shop. When the cold, creamy dessert was picked out and paid for, Lavender sat down at one of the plastic tables, sticking her spoon into the sundae she had gotten for herself. “So. Air condition is a wonderful invention, and I wish that the outside could realize that it needed to stay cold all the time.”
With another grin, she plopped the spoonful of fudge and ice cream and nuts into her mouth. “So, tell me about yourself, Annabelle. What do you do for fun…you know, besides give yourself to the hoards of plant sex by-products that are flying around the world during these most horrid of months.”
Lavender wiggled her eyebrows and laughed. She was so funny. It was almost painful sometimes.

Annabelle pushed her hair out of her face as she followed the other woman in and sniffled something hard. Ugh, this was the grossest she could be while meeting another pretty lady. She bought her own ice cream and followed Lavender to the table, sitting down and crossing her legs before pushing the ice cream around with her spoon. "What do I do for fun? Not much of anything anymore..." She thought about it and it was true. Annabelle didn't have a job, she didn't ice skate anymore, she didn't even go shopping much. "I'm a very boring person, you'll come to find out. See the scar on my face? I fell and cracked my face on a banister going up stairs. But if I had to pick a hobby? I used to ice skate when I was younger. It was really nice, too. I just don't have the energy for it." With a sigh and a shrug, the gold eyed woman looked at the other and then winked at her joke. "What about you?"

Lavender got herself a sundae with hot fudge and cherry vanilla ice cream, and happily stuck her spoon in it, taking a huge bite when they were settled in their seat. Oh that hit the spot, yes indeed it did.
She watched Annabelle and frowned slightly. She didn’t do anything for fun anymore? That didn’t sound good, even by her standards of fun. “Oh me? Well, I’m pretty much an indoor girl. I’m an avid blogger and I have a youtube channel dedicated to makeup tutorials…you know, that scar you have is pretty badass, to be perfectly honest…and I am quite sure I could make you look amazing for Halloween if you wanted…and I know I could give you tips to hide it if you didn’t want it seen…just if you’re interested, that is.”
The girl plucked the cherry from her sundae and took it off the stem, dropping the little red stick on the table. “Honestly though…lately I’ve been addicted to online gaming…? It just sort of happened a few years ago…I got into this game called Runescape and uh…well I didn’t stop. It’s taken over my life a little, and no matter what I try, I keep going back. It’s kind of awful, but kind of wonderful at the same time.”
Her eyes flicked across the light haired girl’s face and she smiled. “You know…I’d go ice skating with you, if you wanted. I really do love the cold…It would be a nice break.”

Annabelle's brow arched as the other mentioned her scar, and then talked about hiding or highlighting it. White bangs fell into her eyes and the girl leaned forward, watching the other girl eat her ice cream and cherry before sighing. Online gaming. Annabelle wrinkled her nose a little bit. "Mm.. Well, that's.. something, isn't it? I don't play video games. No hand eye coordination for it." That and she didn't think it brought any sort of skill to the table in a relationship or real life, so she didn't even want to waste her time on it. Her spoon went to her lips as she slowly ate her ice cream again, a leg bouncing slowly, heel tapping on the floor without her really thinking about it. Then came the ice skating talk and Annabelle laughed a bit. "If it's no winter, I go to the mall. Otherwise I go out to lakes and ponds that have frozen over. I think the most I do online is shopping if I find the right sort of fashion.." Honestly she'd been sleeping a lot and skipping meals. "I was at my most interesting when I was with my girlfriend, I think. ... My ex-girlfriend." She corrected herself sadly, shrugging and continued to eat little pieces of her ice cream.

“Well, thankfully the game doesn’t require any real coordination; it’s more relaxing than anything.” Lavender shrugged, suddenly wondering just how much of a fool she was making out of herself. “Shopping is a pretty great way to spend time too, I know that etsy is a pretty dangerous site for me most of the time…I’ve wasted more money buying things from there…it’s just a trap, I think.”
The girl raised a brow. “Oh, I’m sorry you feel that way…but I think you’re very interesting, to be honest…I know I’m rambling a lot…I’ve just been starved for someone to talk to, I guess. Chatting online doesn’t really fill the void of real human conversation. And I’m sorry about your…breakup? That must suck. I had a girl I really liked but…I don’t know. We just…stopped talking…Who knows. Sometimes girls just suck. I completely understand.” She took a large bite of her sundae and her eyes focused downwards, looking at the mounds of whipped topping on the frozen dessert…and suddenly she didn’t feel all that interested in it anymore.

Annabelle didn't really fell that interested in her ice cream either. So she pushed it to the side and dropped a cheek into her hand instead, shrugging. "Women," she sighed. "Can't live with them, can't live without them. It'll.. get easier, I suppose. She's the only girlfriend I've had.. So." The only actual romantic partner she's had. Male or female. Annabelle latched onto only one person at a time. Another sigh left her before she shifted to get up. "I should... get going. I have an appointment soon. Got a job interview." She did a little shimmy with her hips and laughed. "Wish me luck because it'd be my first one."

Lavender watched as the other girl did a sort of confidence shake and laughed. “Well, I wish you all the best…in both women and in your job interview! I hope you get it, and I hope I run into you again sometime. Maybe when we’re both not dying from tree sex.” She grinned and hesitated before taking one last scoop of her ice cream and shoving it into her mouth.
“I know you’re going to do good…we should hang out again sometime! I know I’d like that, maybe we really can go ice skating…or something. See a movie…oh I don’t know. “ She pulled a pen from her bag and scribbled her number on a napkin, handing it to Annabelle. “Or maybe at the very least, text me how the interview went…I’ll be thinking about you!”
Lavender gave one last wave and nearly fled the ice cream store. That had been almost awkward, and she wondered what she could have done differently. Oh well. She really hoped that Annabelle did great…and she really would be thinking about her.
…and that shimmy.
