The sound of wheels and wood hitting concrete was loud, mixing with the hum of voices talking in their separate groups and calling out to each other across the skatepark on a friday evening in late March. The weather was just warm enough, and dry enough, that everyone seemed to willing to brave the last lingering coolness for a chance at getting out of the house and back to the hobby they loved so much, meaning the place was busier than it had been most of the last few months.

Off to one side, a small group gathered around one of the stone benches and a lanky man with blonde curled under his beanie lifted an arm to wave at an approaching figure, a wide smile breaking out on his face. Slim jeans worn thin over his knees and a baggy band t-shirt hanging past his hips, he fit here. Most of his group fit here, to varying degrees, some of the boys holding skateboards in curled fingers while they flirted with a couple of girls who were obviously here more for the flirting than the skating.

"Layne! Over here!" The young man called. "I want you to meet someone!"

Beside him, a young woman perched on the back of the bench with her worn combat boots on the seat. Thin as a rake, her most standout feature was probably the explosion of short, fluffy, rainbow hair on her head. She grinned at the enthusiasm in the call and tucked a cigarette between her metal-studded lips as she huddled into her too-large leather jacket, thumbing through something on her smartphone.

"I've got a new set for tonight, Aaron." She said to the blonde around the cig in her mouth. "You should come out to the Bomb Shelter and party with me. Bring some of your friends."

"I've got to study for a test on Monday." Aaron hedged when he turned back, rolling his eyes dramatically at the imposition of college cutting into his social life.

"You've got all weekend to study, dude, come on." She laughed when she looked up, taking a deep drag before she pulled her hand from the warm spot between her knees to take the stick from her mouth and blow a stream of blue smoke upwards with a tilt of her chin.

Daredevil youths surrounded the man as he broke through them, riding mercily through the crowd and much as he did when younger giving a stiff arm to anyone brave enough to get in the damn way. Warm from spending most of the day upon the pavement there was little patience left for others. This was relaxation after the week the man had and he be damned if anyone was getting in the way of something he loved. Much less the crowd of half a** boarders the park had become over run with in time of absence.

Layne would play damage control here later with a few of the crowd kept, take the place back for those serious enough to be here. Harmless little threats maybe a couple of broken noses, it would work of that he was sure. Had in the past and you didn't fix what wasn't broken, that was just common sense. The blue eyed brunette melted into one with board railsliding, he jumped crossing his board in between and finishing the rail clean, common trick yes but it felt good to hear the grind.

Layne! Over here!

A familiar voice caught metal riddled ears and a wide spread wolf grin had brilliant whites flashing towards the blonde owner. Aaron, the name played in mind as lip brought a rough deep Louisianan voice, "aye ya a*****e!" It was a friendly greeting despite how it sounded and despite the look Aaron was given. Not many people called Layne, well Layne but not many people had tolerated him long enough to figure out the foulmouth violent brunette was called anything but d**k or Piper.

Wheeling around he popped board up and shouldered it, wandering closer with signature crooked smirk. Meeting someone seemed like a fair way to catch a rest before heading back out to skate. Besides Layne liked this particular friend which was rare enough to encourage a hand going out for a slap and shake with Aaron, then again to pull the beanie worn down over the blondes eyes tauntingly. The brunette himself donned a pair of worn blue jeans that were just tight enough to stay up but not circulation cutting like most in the park liked. Upon upper body a deep red shirt with a three dimension grey graffiti skull, head donning a white and black trucker hat with a bold black letting ' B-Breaker,' a favorite of the mans.

Having missed a good part of the two's previous conversation it was forgotten, stormy eyes landed on the female taking in the shine of rings. "Aye, nice metal girly" his chin lifted with the greeting before he continued, "whadda'yall doin?" This was when a sharp brow lifted, now close enough to get a good look. She was something alright to meet, dirty to the full extent of the word, sitting draped all prudy in leather.

Looking like a rainbow explosion that had either gotten into drugs or told she was too fat by a lover and turned eating disordered, then grunge, then nasty. Layne grinned at his own mental imaging of the woman, then shrugged to himself when deciding that she was still damn fine. There was enough good points to work around the possible body of a twelve year old boy.

The young woman straightened up and she leaned back, she crossed one leg, stocking and knee sock clad, over the other, restlessly bouncing her foot in its boot. She smiled as she thumbed her phone and driving step music began to pour from it. It was bright and sparkling, the voice of a woman singing woven into the beat and electronic tones. She let it play a moment before she turned down the volume and set the phone in her lap to play background to their conversation.

Her eyes warmed as the newcomer commented on her piercings before he did a double take, his interest focusing on her and drawing a smile onto her face. She pushed the stud in her tongue out between her purple lips and rolled it back and forth for a moment, letting it click across her piercings.

"I was telling Aaron he should come to my show tonight, but he's being stubbornly responsible..." She drawled, pulling her tongue ring back into her mouth as she rolled her eyes.

The blonde protested as he shoved his beanie back, giving the brunette a shove with an elbow.

"I've got homework, man. If I fail this test, I'm ******** screwed." He grumbled. "But anyway, hey, Layne this is Sidney, Sid this is Layne. Sid's a DJ, so she could get us into some clubs and stuff."

"I'm good for other stuff too." She teased with a wink, drawing on her cigarette to finish off the last of it. She ground it against the back of the bench to put it out as she blew the smoke upwards, her tongue running across her lips afterwards. Sid lifted her head towards Layne, smiling crookedly. "I like your piercings too. How many do you have?"

Inwardly and outwardly he smirked for the slide of ring across lips, it was good to know the signs of easy. This girl had it written all over her thanks to body language, a thing Layne prided himself on, which meant if cards were played right well they could play twister. Unfortunately for Layne he was s**t for cards though, "think I found m'favorite one, s'healed, or yew just lyke makin guys sturr?" Yeah he said it, purred and wrapped tightly in innuendo, not to mention right in front of the other guys uncaring if she was with one or not.

Stormy eyes focused back on Aaron with the elbow, listening to them talk about school and clubbing. Layne wasn't much for actual dancing but drinking was a different story. By ten beers his life wasn't s**t anymore and that was a good a reason as any to go to a club. Well aside from hot nasty make-outs in the bathroom with sleazy drunk girls.

"No yew could be gettin ******** screwed but ya rather study like a b***h." Layne inserted himself happily into the conversation for a laugh at his friend. Blues rolledvand another elbow met Aaron to prod the other boy a little. He understood though really, having the same going on at school for him only Layne didn't really care.

At the more proper of introduction Layne's head tipped to the girl and a bright green tongue ring flashed a middle finger to her from mouth, "aye bay bay, tha so, lyke what?" Not shy by any means the man moved over and sat right next to Sid. Feet stretching out and hand moving up to adjust hat, getting some air underneath to keep head cool.

For a second, just a second he thought about answering but where was the fun in that? Instead though the man looked up into the sky smirking and looking every bit of the smartass he was. "Ya ever seen them jelly bean jars when yew were a kid?" Guess was the answer to the question.

Sid laughed, her eyes bright.

"The one in my tongue has been there since I was old enough to lie about how old I was to get it. My Ex used to love it." She grinned, unabashed. "The new ones are in my eyebrows, and my nose."

It was easy to tell that she'd caught his interest, he was giving her all the signs that said 'yeah, I'm into that'. She liked the bit of flirting, the back and forth. It was fun and one of the high points of meeting new people. Plus, when they flirted back it was usually a pretty good sign that it was green-light-go for other things too... But that'd have to wait for a less crowded setting.

Aaron didn't seem phased by the exchange, even seemed to expect it. After all, he knew what had happened when he'd first met Sid. One of the skater boys slapped his arm and made a remark about something in the class they shared together, making the blonde laugh as it pulled his attention away, but it was the brunette that took a seat beside her that had Sid's.

The barbell through his nose caught her attention and the DJ considered it as blue eyes rolled upwards and his mouth curved, no doubt prepping a smarmy response.

Maybe that should be her next purchase... that, and/or an anti-eyebrow. Maybe dermals for the dimples on either side of the base of her spine. Just for a little sparkle to be appreciated in the right circumstances... And dermals were ******** hot, they had so much versatility in where they could go...

Layne likened his piercings to 'guess how many' jelly bean jars and Sid chuckled, reaching up to ruffle her fingers through the froth of rainbow hair on her head. The strands brushed her cheeks as she idly bounced her hanging foot, music still pouring from her lap. After a moment, she reached out and took his chin in her fingers, her nails polished black with rainbow glitter. Gently, she urged his face towards her and she tilted her head back as she counted the piercings in his face, then with a little pressure on her fingers to turn his head, she counted his ears.

"Hmm... Three in the face, five in each ear? The rest depends on what kinda guy you are." She hummed as she lightly, playfully tapped her forefinger against his jaw. The short woman let her hand linger on him, half because she liked touching him and half to see what he'd do about it. It forced her to lean towards him, balancing a tad awkwardly in her seat.

"There are two that are a pretty obvious choice... but the rest. Tch." She clucked her tongue, considering, her bright lips curving in a sly smile. "How well do you handle pain, mmm...? I think I'm going to guess... fifteen."

Sid's grin split wide. "How close am I?"

Rainbow bright had a hell of a contagious laugh, cute.

When word of tongue ring came back blue eyes crinkled in delight. "Gud ta know he's an ex." The left side of his lips corked up in a half grin. Better to know she knew how to use it but hey. He liked knowing there wouldn't be an a** to stomp before it was to be got. Or you know having to take one for the team for some pity makeouts.

A good song started to pour out from the speaker on the girls phone and Layne couldn't help but hum along. Amused with how bold this particular female was, a good thing for him considering the beat around the bush shy type really pissed him off. He had been known to be what was considered too aggressive with women around the park which apparently this one hadn't heard or didn't care about.

Fingers, coolish, pressed to face turning his head with their light force. Going all but willingly stormy eyes focused on the woman. Watching her with clear amusement as she counted, cooing teasingly, "tha's cheatin..." But there was no attempts to pull back even when his head was manipulated to the side so ears could be counted. She had missed his own tongue ring, or at least he assumed by word of mouth. The playful tap was met with a snap of teeth and a wink.

Lingered hand was captured and pulled down, unless taken back, right to shirt where Layne pressed fingers to an obvious bump in n****e region. "Pain's m'goto." The man laughed releasing the hand with a devilish look and adding with a hint as eyes turned down lap level, "mm...close but yer missing sum." A second to lean back and eyes roamed over the woman's own jewelry, clearly interested in getting to know all about them.

After a second of appreciation the offer was made in a childish manner, "but I aint tha type tha jus talks, we could confirm tha number if ya got tha free time ta count honey." Layne could feel eyes turn on them now, it was funny maybe there was someone to rub raw with the flirting after all.

But that was just a bonus.

He was very much the flirt, confidence in every line of him. He let her do as she pleased with him, which was promising. He didn't mind allowing her control if the action suited him, at the very least. It was useful information to be stored away, because everything else about him was a great big neon sign that said 'step this way for a rollicking good time'.

After she took her guess, Layne made it quite clear there were hidden piercings he would be interested in sharing with her and Sidney grinned before she ran her tongue ring along the backs of her teeth in consideration. It was a pleasant surprise to find out he had more... she'd pegged him at first for a guy who was possibly more interested in the looks of things than in the actual lifestyle. Granted, maybe she was a bit of a snob when it came to piercings, but there were just certain types of people who went one way, and a whole other type who went the other (far more enticing in her opinion) way.

Her knuckles bumped across the bit of metal under his shirt and when he released her hand, she let her fingers play in the folds of cloth as a subtle excuse for stroking her knuckles against the body under that cloth again.

"You should come to the club tonight." Sidney offered abruptly. "Come and watch me perform. I get breaks between sets to get a drink or two and then there is always a crazy after party to go to. Since Aaron is too busy humping that pole up his a**."

The blonde made a rude noise, hearing her, and the young woman flicked him off, playfully licking the tip of her middle finger with her tongue.

"You should tell me who your piercer is too." She said when she turned back. "I left mine in New York and I've been looking for someone to replace her."

Blue eyes narrowed in a cat-like manner, had the man been able to actually purr it would have happened when those knuckles continued caress. "Mhm." Layne was not someone who bothered under-indulging, life was to short after all. So when the abrupt offer of watching her at the club came the brunette was all teeth in a grin. Instead of a verbal answer at first only head was nodded in a yes motion, giving interest but not desperation, this wasn't his first rodeo.

When Aaron snorted Layne laughed, amused at their banter, and having to add a little in as well, "mm ah knew he was tha type, just couldn't handle m'offer huh baybay?" Layne winked to the blonde and laughed, pulling out his phone for a look over it. Finally after a good few minutes he asked casually, "s'name of your club?" It wasn't an actual acceptance of the invite yet, he couldn't help teasing.

Standing up the man stretched, looking down and waiting for answer. When it came, if it came, or even if it didn't he'd hold out a hand to Sid. Chin lifting a bit in challenge he tested, "c'mon an get yer skinny a** on ah board, if ya can keep balance I'll give ya her'name. Yew manager a trick sugar and I'll buy your next piercing. Ya look even prudier than me on et and hell I might jus give ya a kiss." Layne winked and laughed playfully, Aaron would likely know he was getting bored with small talk and was not the type to deal with it.

They were at a skate park and he intended to skate.

"Club Rose." She supplied when he asked, answering his smile with her own. He hadn't said he would come, but it was a good as assent. He wouldn't have asked otherwise, but she could tell when someone was trying to play it cool. Two could play that game, though it was more amusement on Sid's part that she did it. Had they been in a more private sort of place, she wouldn't have bothered, but since there wasn't much that was going to happen at a skate part, hey why not?

When Layne rose, Sid watched him with consideration, enjoying the easy way he stretched and the things it did to his lean body under his skater clothes. Her mind wandered for a moment, but he called her back as he offered his hand to her. Music poured out of her lap and Sid hummed as she eyed him and his challenging eyes, her own lifting in skepticism.

"If I get on that board, I'm going to break my skinny a**." She tossed back as she straightened up, leaning back on one arm to give him a pouty look. Did he really think she looked like any kind of athletic sort of person? Or, more likely, he just wanted to show off to a pretty girl. Sid's face brightened and she shrugged loosely, picking her phone up to thumb the music off and tuck it into the bag she had slung over her shoulder. The bag, she tucked under the bench they occupied where it wouldn't get stepped on as she rose.

Her combat boots thunked the cement as Sid sidled closer, eyeing the board with misgiving.

"You're going to have to show me what to do, because I am NOT a skater." She said as she tugged her leather coat straight. "I dance and I play music."

Rose.

Easy enough to remember and it was locked away for later, much later. Layne was focused on the moment unable to help but be entertained with himself. Though had he known Sid was down without the act, well, the skatepark would have gotten a much more shameless show. Though to be fair it could still, considering Layne loved female skaters for two reasons. The most important of those reasons being when they rolled they bounced.

Oh lord this dame.

Layne eye'd the pouty look with an amused one, purring simply because that s**t didn't work on him, "tha's part of tha fun baybay sides ave I told ya how gud I am at a** rubs?" A wink was given to allow the full meaning of comment to get through. If his previous words hadn't given away that Layne wasn't the catch you when you fall type of guy, this would likely do the trick. But hey he was fun and good at other things!

The white and black trucker hat upon head was given a lift to fan himself on a teasing whistle as she got up, now a full view given and it was nice. The crooked little grin he wore got wider as hat was placed back on head. Layne of course just trying to remedy the mood seeing as how timid the girl almost acted now.

Board placed to ground he motioned her with his head, not bothering with a hand again, "...'ere we'll go easy, just get on, an I'll parade ya to tha beginners section." Where not a lot of people were likely to be since the obstacles sucked and it was older.

Sid laughed and gave him a side-eye, her lips pursed. "No, but if I fall, you'll have to demonstrate."

All joking aside, she really was kind of nervous to do this. She knew, one hundred percent, that she was not any sort of athletic person. She coughed and wheezed like the smoker she was when she ran. She had rhythm and balance, but her dislike of getting hurt often meant she wasn't willing to reach for things and hesitated instead, usually meaning a fumble or miss.

Skateboarding had never been something she was keen on, because it usually involved a lot of falling down when you started, and scraped skin.

Standing, Sidney was only a few inches over five feet, and as skinny as she had seemed sitting down. For the sake of the weather, she had a black sweater on, but it was cropped short, exposing a line of olive skin above her dark, ripped jean shorts. Her leather jacket fell past her hips, ending just above where her stockings and knee socks started.

When Layne put down his board, Sid paced over to frown down at it before she put a boot on top, mimicing the placement she had seen from others. Her arms went out automatically for balance as she lifted up to put the other on it and the whole assemblage shook a little as she sorted herself.

Having something that wasn't solid and steady under herself was obviously a stumbling block for Sidney, but she gamely gave it a go, wiggling as she struggled to balance.

"Alright, let's go, handsome!" She laughed as she flailed a little, her arms pinwheeling as she reached for him.

"Deal, though now I may wanna push ya..." The man chuckled lowly, grinning a touch devious as he watched Sid climb upon board. The clear look of hesitance was noticed but ignored with an oh so attractive pick of ear. More worried about the skateboard than he was Sid to be honest, which meant not a sympathetic look nor offer to help her catch balance was given.

This was one of his favorite boards, Edna. She was blue, black and worn with years of love. A true lady for leisure.

"There ya go baybay.." Layne cooed praise with a roll of tongue and wipe of finger on jeans, clearly amused as she got on without killing herself. It was a feat in which told Piper she wasn't lying about not being into this. At least the dame was honest in that sense huh, promising, but Layne knew girls were all psycho liars. It was typically about the craziest useless s**t though and that's what use to surprise him.

The pinwheeling hands were grabbed with eager excitement, "yew got it honey." Layne turned backwards, leading her with hands locked around hands. "Let's make et fun, yew can be m'eyes so ya dun look down." A cheeky grin flashed and he picked up the pace in his playful backwards trot towards the older, smaller section of the park.

"OH MY GOD NO don't push me, you a**..." Sid squealed at the suggestion, giving his hands a swat before he took hold of her and began to pull. She was laughing though as she wobbled and the board began to roll under her. She had to lock her knees and press with her feet to get the board to roll forward rather than just let him drag her right off of it, but at least it's wheels rolled smoothly. It didn't take much.

It was really hard not to stare at her feet to make sure the board was still under her chunky boots, but the fact Layne wasn't watching where he was dragging her meant she had to abandon that practice to make sure he wasn't going to run into anything.

"Left! Left!" She laughed, wobbling again as they neared one of the drop offs to a smooth curving slope. "Ohmygod, you are going to kill us both, you nutter... Go that way!"

The rainbow head tossed in the direction he needed to turn and she gripped his fingers tightly, her teeth digging into her lower lip. Despite her protests, she was grinning and there was mirth in her eyes. This might not be a usual activity for Sid, but hey. She was game to try things once in a while, just for fun. They were rolling at a good clip now and she clung to his support, even as the board started to sheer off from the direction he was pulling.

"s**t s**t s**t... how do I turn it?" She giggled as she glanced downward, glaring concentration at the board under her feet.

"Gurl yew keep talkin bout asses, M'startin ta think its a fetish. " He let his words roll in a sarcastic purr up to the woman. Then they were off and Layne watched in tickled delight as Sid tried to decide if watching her feet or where they were going was more important. Ok, it was a little evil but it was giving the right lesson. If she honestly wanted to skate, she couldn't be watching her damn feet all the time.

Not that she'd bother after this lesson he was sure but whatever.

She laughed out instructions and Layne laughed, "which way this waaay?" He purposely went the wrong way before correcting. Maybe sneaking a look back to see where they were after following the direction the rainbow locks swayed. She started going the opposite direction and he coached calmly, but not very good, "put yer foot onna back babe, so tha the front of et lifts up a bit." She'd have to trust herself not to fall which he didn't see happening but he continued, "swing yer weight inta shoulders an c'mon round with tha momentum, keep yer weight at tha back and youll turn." You know unless she wasn't balanced right, then she would probably end up on her a** but he'd try to catch her.

Sid gripped his hands tighten when he faked going the wrong way, unable to help laughing at his antics. Even if she wasn't real serious about the skateboarding thing, she was at least having fun and humoring a cute guy at the same time.

Instructions for turning were given and the DJ attempted to comply, wobbling as she tried to shift her feet. She wasn't entirely sure what he meant by swinging her weight with her shoulders, or whatever that was, but any attempt to lift the front end up had her putting more weight on his hands. It didn't do much and the board stubbornly refused to turn just as it started to edge out of reach, Sid abandoned ship, stumbling off the board to put her feet back on solid ground again. The board attempted to make a break for it without her on top, but the short woman managed to catch it with a toe, laughing as she clung to Layne's hands and balanced awkwardly on one leg.

"It wouldn't turn!" Sid protested as she hopped, trying to draw the board back as she straightened up. "That s**t is way harder than it looks. Which is why I'm a DJ and not a skateboarder."

It had been a fun little exercise, even if they hadn't made it very far. A foot on the tail fin lifted the front wheels off the ground and Sid reached to pick it up, letting go of one of Layne's hands to do it.

"Its a good thing I've got other skills, huh?" She teased as she cradling his board under her arm. "Still undecided if you're going to come tonight? I'd like to see you there."
