Remembering the Past
Prompt 3

Can be used toward Solo or RP req

It has been seven long years since the Great Oban Invasion. It almost feels like a dream, considering all of the changes that have occurred in Tendaji since the great war. A new King sits on the Oban throne, and he has opened the boundaries of Oba and Matori. Many already are taking advantage of the open boarders to travel and explore. The world was expanding and changing all things to the massive war of the great nations.

Since the war, Tendaji took a stand against the extremist Alkidikes and won. They came together to show a new alliance that many could never dream of. Everything was settling, and now that there finally was peace everyone has begun to to take a moment and remember all that has come and gone.

How have the major wars and changes impacted your character these past few years? Are they bitter for their failures or happy about their success? Do they see a peaceful future to come or are they concerned about those who may be still holding grudges?

[Characters not part or even alive during the war can still respond to this prompt. Maybe they have a different way of understanding the war compared to those who were part of it, so feel free to explore those feelings and thoughts in your response]

Ingwe sat on a rock and stretched his throbbing side muscles. He sighed and looked at the healed burns. Apparently after 5 years they still hurt! 5 Years… he shook his head; had it really been that long since he’d and Talin had split ways? It felt like yesterday... but it’d been so long ago!

First he’d been caught asleep in a burning inn and laid up for 2 years healing from those bad burns.. Talin had checked in on him, even left him an aldabuck from when Talin had come back from his people’s festival. But that had been 3 years ago. And since then Ingwe had grown.

He’d learned in the Oban war that he was woefully unprepared for fighting. He fought with his fists: and fists did little against bows and magic... and he had yet to actually learn how to deal with spears. He’d found that out the hard way: the scars on his ribs in addition to the burn scars showed this. He’d done his best; using his gauntlets to break spears as they came at him, but he couldn’t block everything and arrows came in far too fast for him to grab all of them. That fight had left him, once again, in the healer’s tent to recover. Delaying his time to return to Talin and the group even longer; Talin had stopped showing up or sending letters after a while. Which had hurt but also been understandable. He had a life to live and so did Ingwe. Talin’s was just a path he stuck to while Ingwe…

He sighed. I just keep wandering off my path. Or was it even his path? He lay back on his rock and watched the puffy clouds scuttle across the sky in breeze. He had just followed Talin since... well… he and Talin were a thing... had been a thing... maybe were still a thing? And that left him feeling a bit… useless. He hadn’t contributed to the group really. He’d gotten hurt and hadn’t been able to join and then a wear had repeated the same process. He could have gone straight to the group once he’d recovered... why had he joined in the war? He smiled slightly at that thought. He knew why; because it’d been the right thing to do. To protect his people. That’s what he liked doing! Banditry… cause that’s what Talin did, even if he did paint a pretty picture, was not what he wanted to do. And that was a difficult thing to tell Talin. Well; would be if he ever met him again.

Ingwe sighed. He didn’t want to steal from others; sure Obans had invaded and were rich in certain things (like those odd crystals that they melted into weapons and armor! He really wanted some…) but that wasn’t a reason to keep attacking them and taking their stuff as he knew Talin was still doing. It’d been 7 years… surely it was time to put aside any dislike or hatreds right? Give everyone a chance? They still gave the Alkidikes chance even after the extremists tried to take over Sauti! That had been an interesting fight. One he’d done better in and hadn’t had to spend a year recovering from muscles being cut in half or bones breaking.
Perhaps I ought to go to Oba? Maybe see if I can buy armor of theirs? Something for the ribs at least! And, he felt a twinge of guilt, return home and talk to his mother. He’d been away for so long and hadn’t even thought of her! I wonder if she ever found someone to love her and her alone? Unlike that foolish father of his… And I should go and talk to my father. I took off so suddenly! It’s not like I hate him! I just dislike that he’s married to someone other than my mother and that’s why she had to raise me alone and be mocked. Gusss I ought to go and try to talk to him about it at least. Maybe see if I have some half siblings? Ingwe didn’t know what he’d do about them.. If he wanted to be apart of their lives. He did know he wanted the wife to learn of what her husband did. It was wrong of his father to sleep around while married! Love or no love it was wrong.

He nodded slowly and stretched before getting off his rock. That would do; he would drop by home, then find Talin and see what was going to happen between them since he wasn’t going to be a bandit any longer, and then maybe into Oba for some armor.
