Business at the florist shop had began to pick up. With Spring now upon them weddings and other sorts of events were beginning to pop up which meant a need for arranged flowers. In fact, Gwen had been pulled to the back room, away from her usual position at the front desk, to help where she could with a large order of flowers for a spring wedding. This also meant she had completely lost track of time and stayed later than usual. As soon as she was able she shot Isaiah a text message explaining she probably wouldn’t get to the hospital to visit until later.
With that taken care of Gwen grabbed her things, including a light spring jacket to fend off the March winds, and set out to grab herself something to eat. She had heard of a cafe not too far away, within walking distance, that had a tendency to feature local artists whether they be singers, musicians, a mixture of the two, or traditional artists. They were said to have decent food and coffee as well, and Gwen was in dire need of both.
The cafe wasn’t hard to find with the emblazoned logo ‘The Cat’s Meow’, boldly displayed above and the sound of a guitar floated out as someone exited the shop. From what she could see from the large store display, there was quite an eclectic crowd inside but it didn’t look terribly busy. So, she hurried inside, brushing her hair down after the door shut behind her with one last gust of wind.
Several booth sand tables were scattered about. A young man was serenading people on a guitar in the far corner on what looked like a small stage. It had a nice atmosphere and Gwen was quickly at ease as she took in the many different art pieces that hung around the brick walls. Eventually the line in front of her dwindled down and she made her order of coffee and a club sandwich which seemed to be the special of the day. Thankfully it seemed they had a few sandwiches already put together and Gwen was soon locating herself a small two person table off to the side. It was in her pursuit of a table that a shockingly bright head of hair caught her attention.
“Sidney?” She questioned as she walked up to the table the girl was at with a few other people, coffee and food in hand.

Hearing someone not at the table calling her name pulled the DJ up from the coffee she was sipping, blinking at the red-head that had appeared out of seemingly nowhere. It took a tick, but Sidney managed to pull her name out of her memory of a night out at the bar and a rather drunk ginger in Ice's lap. "Oh! Hey... Gwen right?" She said as she lowered her mug to the table leaning back to plaster a smile and look of welcome across her face that she only half felt. The other half had a hard time forgetting how the woman had claimed Ice's attention to exclusion of pretty much everything else. Sid wasn't used to feeling like a third wheel and she couldn't say she liked it very much. Still... it probably hadn't been meant that way and it was just once. Better to forget about it and move on, right? "Oh, ah... Gwen, this is Stacy and Tom. They're a pair of artists I met at a gallery opening. Gwen is a friend of a friend." She said as she made introductions around. Tom rose far enough to offer his hand across the table with a warm, open smile, his tumble of blonde hair falling into his eyes. In contrast to his rumpled hipster vibe, Stacy was all class with her black a-line skirt and her black hair in a neat ponytail. She offered a more reserved smile and a wave as Sidney gave the red-head a look over. "You work near here?" The young woman offered, noting the profession blouse and pants. It was a far cry from the stylish goth number she'd worn at the bar, but it was support for the feeling she'd gotten that goth wasn't Gwen's typical mode. That had probably been Ice... it fit his tastes. "Oh! You can join us, come on, sit down. No need to go searching for a table." The DJ kicked the seat out from beside her with a chunky black boot, shifting her own over with a scrape of metal against the floor to make room. "We were just talking about these two selling a couple of pieces to this place. They wanted to scope it out before hand, see what kind of atmosphere it was." Sid said, her forearms resting along the table to curl her fingers around her cup. "I dig the vibe." Tom said as he leaned back in his hair, draping a hand across the back of Stacy's seat. "I think it'll be good exposure."

"It's nice to meet both of you!" She smiled, and placed her coffee on the table to take Tom's hand when offered and gave Stacy a return nod in greeting.
At Sidney's quesiton Gwen blinked before looking down at herself forgetting that she had been wearing her work uniform. "Oh. Yea." She laughed as she looked back up. "There's a florist shop not too far from here that I work at. I just got off and figured I'd come check this place out."
With the offer to join the trio at the table Gwen happily took the offered chair, playing her wrapped sandwich down alongside her coffee. "Thanks!" She smiled at Sid, completely oblivious to the girls mixed emotions. "I have to admit, I never thought I'd run into you again. At least, not in a coffee shop." In some way, Gwen had hoped she wouldn't have run into Sid again. Even though she didn't remember much of the night from the club, she certainly remembered the jealousy each time Isaiah had given his Ex any sort of attention beyond friendship.
Glancing at Stacy and Tom Gwen tilted her head slightly as she worked at unwrapping her sandwich from the white butcher's paper. "So, what kind of art do you two do? Paintings?" Considering that Sidney had mentioned an art gallery painting was a safe guess. "Let me guess..." She studied the two of them. "Abstract?"

"A florist? I didn't know you worked with flowers." Sid said absently as Gwen came to join them. Not for the first time, she found herself wondering what exactly it was Ice saw in this woman. Besides a convenient and willing lay, of course. A thin lipped smile appeared at the comment on their meeting and she shrugged loosely, lifting and dropping a bar shoulder under the floppy teal sweater she wore. Under the table, she bounced her crossed leg in it's black legging, unable to sit completely still. "I am at heart a social creature and my habitat is anywhere people go to enjoy each other's company." She said, waving a hand around at the small clusters of people talking and drinking. Tom grinned at her, unfazed or simply unaware of any tension at the table. "Yeah, like I said, its really cool here." He leaned forward, waving a hand expansively and good-naturedly. "Stacy does paintings, but I'm a sculpture man myself. Scrap metal mostly, but I've done just about everything at one time or another. Whatever calls to me." "I tend towards something more impressionism than abstract." Stacy said, finally joining in. Her voice was smooth and her smile was warm and polite. "I like to paint people in particular, doing day to day things. I've always been drawn to those little slice-of-life moments we see all the time but no one ever really thinks about." Sidney's grin was warmer this time when she piped up. "Stacy has this way of capturing the charm of the little things that are so common, but have a sort of universal note to them everyone can appreciate. She has a really good idea for that." Speaking the praises of the two artists was an easy and pleasant subject. Neither of them performed in a medium that Sidney herself was any good at, but she appreciated the passion and creativity that went into it. "Stacy has had her paintings featured in a few shows lately, and Tom has a sculpture up in garden of the D.C. Museum of Art. Quite the accomplished pair." "Speaking of..." Stacy said as she gave her partner a gentle prod with her elbow. "Tom has a meeting with the director this afternoon, and I think its time we made our way over there so he's not late." She leaned over and Sid leaned with her to receive a smooth kiss to her cheek. Tom reached to offer his hand to Gwen and his smile was bright. "It was a pleasure to meet you. I hope you enjoy the rest of your lunch." He said as he rose, offering Stacy a hand when she was ready. "We'll give you a call again sometime, Sid. It was nice to hangout here." The DJ waved as the two made their way out, stifling the sudden feeling of 'oh god they left me alone with her and I have no idea what to talk about'. Time to put on your best face, Butterfly.

Hearing of the accomplishments of Stacy and Tom was quite impressive. It was always a small shock to run into people who were so incredibly talented in their field and whom enjoyed their work so intensely. The pair certainly sounded like they had a bright future ahead of them, which made Gwen reflect on the fact that she needed to start putting more thought and effort into her own dream plans. Of course, those were a few years down the roads yet of ever coming to fruitation.
As the two rose to leave, Gwen smiled and nodded. "It was great meeting you. Thank you!" She gave a small wave as the pair left the table. With the empty seat available across from Sidney, Gwen decided to move so that the two of them could converse more easily. It also gave them both a bit of breathing space. After all, Gwen had only met Sidney once and to tell the truth, she didn't exactly remember details about the girl. Only that she had once been engaged to Isaiah and that she had seemed still interested in him when they were at the club. What was I thinking when I thought to sit down here?
She hadn't been thinking. That was the problem. Gwen had just acted out of familiarity and wanting to enjoy lunch with someone she knew, even if the person was pretty much just a familiar face.
Picking at the chips that came along with her sandwich, Gwen sat back in her seat. "So how have you been?" Great start there, Gwen. Just superb. Why not ask her about the weather next?
"Keeping yourself busy at the clubs? I think I remember Isaiah saying you DJ?" Slightly better.

Que the awkward conversation..."Same old, same old." Sid returned as her fingers played with her cup, gently rolling the cup along the edge of the foot. Not enough to spill, but it was obvious she needed something to do with her hands. Her foot still bounced, though she leaned back into her seat to put a bit more comfort distance between herself and her 'rival'. Because that's what Gwen was, she realized. It was an odd concept for Sidney, who's entire relationship with her ex-fiance had seen many, many people coming and going between them, either shared or not. There was something different though, in knowing your place with someone and letting them play with others, and whatever position she was in now. "I work most weekends and as many weeknights as I can wrangle. Its not full time, like you probably have, but it fits my lifestyle, and I make enough money to live on. And I enjoy it a hell of a lot. DJing, that is." She tilted her head lightly to the side, setting her cup down so she could trace her finger around the rim and then lift it to her mouth to suck the coffee off her fingertip. "Music is my passion." "So... How are things with you, then? I assume you two made it home okay from the club. I ended up finding a cute girl smoking outside and we decided to find a different place to party." She smiled at the memory of the little blonde with the big attitude she'd picked up that night.

"It's always nice to be able to support yourself doing something you love. It doesn't really feel like work then. And if you can do that without having to work full time all the better!" She chuckled. "I do work full-time. I can't say it's the most exciting job but it's a step in the right direction. I want to open my own gardening shop as some point so learning the ins and outs in a florist shop isn't all that terrible."
Reaching down, Gwen grabbed her sandwich and lifted it to her mouth to take a bite of it. She certainly had made a good choice stopping by if only for the food. The bread was fresh and the sandwich itself which was filled with turkey, gouda cheese, butter lettuce, ripe red tomatoes, onions and some oil, was just spot on. It was the perfect thing to tackle the void in her stomach.
Lowering the food back to the butcher paper it had been wrapped in, Gwen carefully chewed as Sidney brought up the night at the club. Once the bite was down, Gwen wiped her lips with her napkin before answering. She certainly didn't want to be spraying food anywhere after all.
"Well that's good then! I felt like you would probably find yourself someone that night. You don't seem like the type of person to waste a good night if she can help it." She flashed the younger girl with a smile before taking a sip of her drink.
"Yea, we got back fine, not that I remember much of it considering how much alcohol I had, but Isaiah seemed to have enjoyed the evening." She shrugged with a smile. "Life has been fairly kind if slightly odd for me at times, but that's what keeps it interesting I guess. Over all though, I'd say life has been treating us well."

Bleh, gag me with the same-old, everything-is-peachy crap.Sometimes, Sid really hated small talk. Life was too short for it. Letting her cup go, she stretched her arms up over her head and arched her back, lacing her fingers behind her brightly colored hair. "I suppose that's good." She offered, even if she didn't really feel it. Without the social buffer of her friends, Sid was fading fast. She really wanted a smoke all of a sudden... just something to take the edge off everything. It didn't bode well for any kind of potential friendship with the red head if she couldn't be around her without being high. "I need to get going, actually. I need to get my things ready for my gig tonight, and I should let you finish your food in peace." Sid said as she dropped her arms and reached to tug her bag off the back of her chair. As she stood, she gathered up her cup and offered Gwen a once over. "Say hi to Ice for me, eh?" She asked, sliding the long strap of her back over her head and across her shoulders.

At Sid's sudden announcement she was leaving, Gwen wasn't sure if she felt relieved or a bit bothered by it. Had she said something wrong? She didn't recall saying anything that might bother the younger girl. Or maybe I am just being a bit paranoid about her. Which Gwen mentally chastised herself for. It wasn't like Isaiah was around right now and, to her knowledge, Sid hadn't seen Isaiah since that night at the club. Calm your territorial self."Yea, not a problem." She offered Sid a smile. "I am sure he'll be glad to hear you're doing well too. Um, where are you at tonight? I don't think he has any plans and I know I could go for a date night or something at a club." Why am I possibly setting myself up for a possible night of being jealous and worried about him and Sid? "I imagine he'd be happy to see you again." Whimsical Blue Wittle post. XD Feel free to wrap it up.

The DJ had a crazy moment where she considered answering Gwen's question with a lie, pausing as she straightened her bag strap across her chest. It sounded the opposite of appealing to have Gwen show up with Isaiah at the club she was playing at. Granted, she didn't have to see them, clubs were always full of people, but she'd know they were there... and she'd be the one entertaining them. It was weird, to get a feeling like this. She'd never been the jealous sort, or the kind to begrudge someone time with Ice... and remembering that cooled her attitude a bit. Sid's face softened and she shrugged, even venturing a small smile. "I'm playing at the Kitty Club tonight. If you guys show up, give me a shout. I'll buy you a round of drinks." She said as she dug a bill out of her bag and slipped it under her cup for the busser. "I'll see you around, Gwen." Kolina oops, forgot to cap this off
