It had taken a lot of consideration and convincing for Fiona to cave and finally decide that she needed help at the firm. After deciding that she was buying a house - that her parents were buying but she was paying for and doing all the remodeling for - she had to face the facts that she simply couldn't keep up with all of the extra errands that the firm required. So she'd started setting up interview and frankly, the first four or five had gone horrible.

She'd been losing hope but - Fritz had casually mentioned that his future brother-in-law was looking for something to replace the job he'd lost and Fiona didn't have the heart to deny the guy a chance. Not when he called and sounded so hopeful.

Besides, she could hold it against Fritz if the guy sucked.

So, she'd set up the meeting at Just Add Coffee because it was relatively centrally located and, well, she liked quietly scoping out the place Khaleel was going to be working out once she let him off bedrest. The cafe was mostly empty, a few customers mingling along ordering drinks or sliding into booths like hers, which was tucked against the wall with a perfect view of the glass doors. She had a binder full of information, a folder on top of that and a latte in a ceramic cup with the steam still wafting upwards.

Fiona had dressed nicer, more professional than usual with a button up blouse and her hair twisted intricately in an updo with a pencil skirt and heels. If she was potentially going to be this dude's boss, she needed to look it.

Logan Hitchcock was still sorely lacking in a suit. He'd had one, but more than a year ago that'd been ravaged by what he'd later discovered to be some crazy negaverse operation that'd led to a very unfortunate spill in some very smelly dip. Which, all things considered, if he had to choose whether to lose the suit or miss the chance to meet Tolliver St. James for the first time, ********, he'd happily ******** up a million suits for that kind of change. But it didn't really change the fact that he hadn't gotten one since and well, now he was facing down an interview that had way more riding on it than Rhys knew (and Hitch was really hoping he never knew because ******** his fiance felt bad enough as it was). Any other time and he might've shrunken away from anything Fritz offered, not out of dislike but merely a matter of pride, but there wasn't a whole lot of room for pride with a rapidly dwindling checking account and no semblance of a safety net.

So he'd done his best to dress to impress in more subtle ways, one of the things his mom had always pushed when he was young. Didn't matter how things were at home: if you kept up appearances, no one gave a s**t what you did or didn't have for dinner the night before. He'd tied his hair back, he'd pulled out a crisp enough looking button down shirt, and there wasn't a lot he could do for the typical boots he wore, but at least his pants were black and looked like they could pass for dress pants. He looked polished and put together, and even if he considered going far enough to take out his lip piercing for the interview, he ended up deciding against it; it was kind of as much a staple feature as the hair, and neither one was really going to go anywhere. Might as well see that going into it and see where it did or didn't get him.

Just Add Coffee, at least it was undeniably his kind of place; he was always more of a coffee guy than a tea guy, and the smell of it wafting at him was kind of reassuring, although not as much as a cigarette dangling from between his lips would've been, or a shot of bourbon which he'd barely resisted to calm his nerves. Didn't need to go to an interview smelling of it though. Instead, holding a notebook and pen in case he needed to write down well, anything (always looked better to take notes, even if his handwriting was basically ******** chicken scratch), his free hand idly drumming at his thigh, he scanned the place for the woman he was supposed to be meeting as he drew a long, deep breath.

Don't ******** this up, Logan.

Fritz had given her a slight description of Logan so that she knew who to look for and while she assumed that in turn, the other ginger had given his eventual brother-in-law a description of her, she figured it was best to keep an eye out for him. So, when he stepped through the glass door, bell chiming to alert the barista who'd been in the backroom grabbing syrup replacements, Fiona's head snapped up and mismatched eyes turned towards his direction.

It was easy to slide out of the booth and a quick smoothing of her skirt before her long legs carried her over to him. She stuck her hand out for a handshake and offered him a soft, genuine smile. "Logan Hitchcock I presume?" One dark red brow arched as she awaited a reply. "I'm Fiona and well, I'm looking forward to interviewing you."

The young woman was very, very sick of this interview process and she really hoped that Fritz's friend would be the person she ultimately hired. "Let me get you a drink and then we can sit down and talk about what the job entails and why you think I should pick you." She took a step back, gestured to the counter where the barista was waiting with a tentative smile for them.

"Don't worry, I seem like I bite but I'm mostly nice."
