"-And as always, thanks to your donations WWMI remains commercial free, brought to you by our members and in cooperation with Rider-Waite College-" Wendy Drummond everyone, morning DJ extraordinaire, "heard these guys on Spotify the other day, check em out, and when we come back I have an exclusive interview with Autumn Smith about her viral instagram photos from-" a distorted voice button was hit on the sound board, " FOGPOCALYPSE 2016." The dark haired woman switched to the music, headphones dropping off of her gauged ears so she could turn to the booth door. Autumn would be led in by an intern, and Wendy was all friendly smiles when she arrived. "Hey.." She held out a tattooed hand in greeting, "I'm Wendy- You ever been on the radio before?"

This had all gotten out of hand really ******** quickly. One day she'd been in hell, then she'd been back, and boom suddenly she was being snatched up for a radio interview. Apparently, posting her demon deer selfies on Instagram was not the best idea she'd ever had. They'd blown up overnight, and now Autumn was being noticed- for all the wrong reasons. Any publicity was good publicity, mind you, but nobody was really in it for her makeup anymore. It was all the Otherside s**t, what was that deer, tell us what you saw.
Autumn sighed as the intern guided her along, hands idly hidden in her pockets. Maybe this was a sign her makeup wasn't where she was supposed to make a difference. Helping people was still her calling... but maybe this Other Ashdown s**t could be what it was about? It was helping, but man it was still a bitter pill.
They arrived to the booth, and Autumn transformed back to her happy and cheery self, shaking the offered hand and also shaking her head.
"Can't say I have! It's pretty exciting." And that much wasn't a lie, at least. She hadn't even won call-in radio contests for giftcards or any s**t like that. Autumn was nervous, even if her initial focus was elsewhere.

"It's really easy I swear." Wendy grinned. Autumn had her style on point and she could appreciate that immensely. The song was still playing so they had a minute, "C'mon where's your phone??" Wendy's phone was out and she was pressing towards the other woman for a quick selfie.

"You think I go anywhere without it?" Autumn asked, quirking a perfectly-trimmed brow. Without any further prompting, Autumn whipped her phone out of her pocket, and squeezed up next to Wendy. Didn't matter that she didn't know Wendy- a selfie with any kind of celebrity was a selfie with a celebrity, even if they were a local one. Turning to the perfect angle, Autumn pursed her lips, winked, and snapped the photo on her own phone.
"Lemme see how yours turns out," she said, flipping open her photos and smiling in delight.
"Can't go looking bad in tagged photos, you know?"

Both women snapped their photos with perfect poses and ducklips and showed it to Autumn with a smirk before she was tagging it for posting with a low mutter, " #wwmiradio #inthestudio #tunein #upnext #bae #onfleek #bejelly.. Awesome." Wendy was sliding into her chair then, motioning for Autumn to take up the one a few feet away. Headphones were slipped on and she indicated the other woman should do the same. Microphones at the ready, she waited for the song to peter off before someone in a booth opposite them motioned. "Aaand we are back on the WWMI morning show. Now I know I've been talking about," she hit a button the voice change happened, " FOGPOCALYPSE2016. Our listeners know how we love conspiracy theories and weird happenings.." Wendy glanced at Autumn and gave a thumbs up. "So we were eating up all the listener tagged photos of the weird symbols and flyers that the city is calling an event of 'Performance Art', yes folks I'm doing air quotes and eye rolls-" and she was, "But best yet were the viral photos posted by our next guest, AUTUMN... Welcome to the show Autumn!"

Not to brag, but DAMN she was good looking. Despite her doubts, Wendy's photo of her looked pretty good, and Autumn found herself smiling a bit. She followed after the other woman into the booth and took up her own chair. Then she slide her headphones on, pulled her microphone a bit closer, and turned to look at Wendy for cues.
At the 'weird happenings' comment, Autumn gave a hesitant thumbs up back, wondering what the ******** she'd signed herself up for. Hopefully this wouldn't get backlash to Pax anyhow...
"Hey guys, how're you doing? Man, I am telling you, I did not expect those to get so popular!" She laughed, then looked back to Wendy for where this conversation was even going.

"Oh come on, this is Ashdown you know we eat this s**t up-" She'd been spoken too about casual profanity this early in the morning but Wendy hardly cared. "So some people are saying this is a fake.. other people are saying you made a cool puppet-" Wendy had the picture up on her phone looking at it, "-You know our urban legends.. about the oooo-" She waggled her brows, " Other place, especially all those people gone missing and showing up again. And of course the obvious photoshop accusation." Her brows rose when she glanced up for an answer, "So what's the truth?"

Autumn laughed a little bit, not having expected Wendy to be so... brash, she supposed, on air. But it was the kinda show she'd listen to, definitely. With her list of options exhausted, Autumn leaned over dramatically, giving the radio host a look.
"I'm gonna be real with you, okay? I have literally zero art skills, even LESS on a computer. Between you and I-" She grinned, because obviously this was public and people were listening.
"There is some weird stuff going on in this humble little town of yours. I don't think everyone sees it, but it's there. That other place is rainy-nasty enough to screw up your hair for days, and it doesn't follow our rules. Time? Time doesn't play the same there, forests don't play the same. I'm telling you, something is up with this town." She nodded, solemnly, then thought back to the picture.
"But that cutie in my pictures? That's The Peaceful One. Goes by Pax. Basically the biggest sweetheart EVER," Autumn cooed, thinking back to her deerfriend. Would people believe her? Probably not. But Autumn was nothing if not honest.
"Apparently all this noise has been going on for like, ever."

"Wow." Wendy, honestly, had expected some wishy washy explanation, or an admittance that it was blown out of proportion. She'd lived here a long time though and the weird stuff was always around. She definitely had mixed feelings on if all the hype was real, but that deep down suspicion that it was. "So you are saying you did go to another place and this, uh, Pax thing is real?" She could see the phone lines lighting up and the producer motioning but she waved him off. "Honestly, Autumn people would say you sound crazy but I'm sitting here with you and you don't really look like a crazy person.. How did you get there and were you alone? "

"You know- I thought I was crazy, for a while," Autumn admitted, her smile a bit softer and more genuine. "But I'd honestly just gone out in the morning to pick up some bath bombs I ordered online, and boom. There I was. It was like... the world was horrible, and grey. I kinda bet it's how people with depression feel, you know? And I was just... alone. That was the worst of it." She thought back to her initial arrival in the Otherworld, brow furrowing slightly.
"And I just... wandered. I figured it was a bad dream, maybe I'd had too much wine before bed. But all those fliers, the shhhhhtuff we saw," she corrected herself, keeping from swearing despite Wendy's cavalier use of language "...it was just too real to pretend I was making it up."
Autumn sighed.
"I'm sure people aren't gonna believe me, but I'm just trying to be as honest as I possibly can. I'm nothing special, you know? I blog. I do makeup. I'm not like, curing cancer or changing lives. And if someone like me can wind up involved in all this mess... I just want people to be safe. Get to the bottom of it. Make sure they keep an eye on their friends, so they don't wind up like..." no. Probably not a good idea to mention Heliodora.
"Some of the missing folks, I guess. Seriously. I don't know why it happened to me, and honestly, I don't want it happening to anyone else."

"I agree with you," Wendy nodded, "And I also want our citizens to be safe. And I'll get back to those bathbombs in a minute because I already checked out your blog.." She glanced up at the booth and was given a thumbs up, "Which we linked on our website for people at home. No harm in free advertising, right Autumn? But check it out everybody.. she's a trendsetter this one.." Wendy took a sip of coffee a moment, "Back to the events of the other night. Would you say the strange weather, the weird graffiti and the papers that police are calling 'performance art' have anything to do with your experience? A lot of people were said to go missing and then reappear. Could the events be connected or some cosmic weird circumstance?" She didn't give Autumn quite the chance to answer yet, continuing in a questioning ramble like most who were used to hearing themselves talk, "The police say everyone got lost in the woods and that the papers and flyers were performance art. Do you think there's a conspiracy going on in our city government to hide the truth from us? Are the police lying to us?"

"Girl, I'm telling you. You need a little pick-me-up for your skin? Avocado bath bombs. Your skin will sing for a WEEK afterwards," she laughed, thinking back to how many hours she'd spent resting in the bath. It was, next to makeup, basically her favorite thing ever.
She was going to answer about the fliers and everything, when oh sweet ******** jesus this just got extremely political. Frowning a bit, Autumn thought. She was NOT gonna ******** this up with stupid answers, no sir.
"They're not lying, no. Considering the fact none of us have answers, don't you think people deserve some sense of comfort that they're trying? I mean, this isn't just black and white politics here. This is things we don't understand, things that could be dangerous. I don't think kids need to be exposed to that kind of worry and fear. Peace of mind... it's worth a lot more than we give it credit for, you know?"

"I'm obviously not trying to scare people. We want our citizens safe and secure but with the upcoming mayoral elections I think maybe these are topics or politicians should be discussing. What about you Autumn? Youtube star today- mayor of ashdown tomorrow??" Wendy laughed and took another sip of coffee, "We've got another music block coming up. Make sure guys tweet me out there with what you think about all this, #wendyinthemornings #wwmiradio #paxismypatronus, and Autumn I ask you this- when are we expecting a monster invasion... and will they follow our laws?" She stared seeming serious, before Wendy busted out in another laugh, "I'm just messin with you. We've got another music block up next, and then our ever popular 'high school boy bands present the weather', I love listening to those little nerds read me barometer readings.." Her eyes cut to Autumn, "Autumn you'll stick around a bit though? I want to hear about those bath bombs some more." The music was fading in.

"Oh, please. I don't get to run a fun blog if I'm mayor. It'll be all politics and boring stuff," Autumn snorted, rolling her eyes. As much as she could get political- actually being involved? HELL no. She didn't hate herself that much, or nearly enough to get involved.
As the music block faded in as well, she nodded at the question of staying.
"Sure will, girl. And you know you can always hit me up, right? ...I'm pretty sure you have my number."
And who knew? Maybe next time she'd have pictures of Pax, or something to share of her new kitty.
