Abiron awoke with a start, snorting as his antlers became tangled in the dense forest around him. As he looked around, he wondered, how long had he been asleep for? He was warm, he knew that for a fact, but the stinging feeling that his last memory was during a winter would not leave him alone.
Standing, careful to disentangle his antlers from the young tree beside him, he stretched and yawned. It had been a while since he had moved, he realized. Becoming one with the forest and communicating with the earth and sky had always taken a lot out of him, but this time was different. It was almost as if entire lifetimes had passed between when he had shut his eyes and when he had opened them again, though to him, it had felt like a blink.
Shaking off the feeling as best he could, he strode out of the relative protection of the forest into a small clearing, the early spring grasses shooting up under his hooves swaying slightly in a gentle breeze. Ahead, a stream gurgled quietly, soft and serene, and Abiron felt at peace. Maybe he had missed some time in the world, but if that's what the Universe desired, so be it.
He stepped gingerly into the stream and dipped his head to drink, the skulls woven throughout his mane tinkling softly in the breeze, the ribs around his torso creaking and groaning against his belly. Maybe this wasn't so bad after all.

The turning of seasons brought a lot of good feelings for Jumana. While she loved all of the seasons equally, Spring tended to bring out the best of everyone that she knew. It was the perfect temperature, not too hot nor cold for her, but she was glad to see the sun again. It's sight she had missed the most.
Because of how lovely the weather was, the mare had decided to take this opportunity to finally get out fully and stretch her legs (and tiny wings) through the fields that were springing up with new foliage. It was lovely to see the new spring grass and the spring flowers that popped up left and right to symbolize how alive the world was yet again from it's winter slumber.
However, it wouldn't be long before her tiny legs would find herself through the clearing and close to a small stream. Her pace slowed as she approached it and to her surprise she found that she was not alone. She gave a quick look from the distance to notice how tall the other was, but her instincts beckoned her to walk towards. This could be a new friend, afterall! As his silhouette began to form more shapes, she noticed all sorts of things about him, mainly the accessories that he was sporting. Perhaps most would shy away from this, but Jumana was taught to never judge a book by it's cover, and she honestly thought his attire was actually interesting!
As she stopped closer to the edge of the water, she kept a small distance between them in case he actually wasn't wanting company, but called out nonetheless. "Hello there! You look really cool!"

Abiron's head popped up the moment he heard the voice, startled slightly but regaining his composure quickly. What was with him today? Usually he could hear another Soquili coming from a mile away and be prepared, how did he miss this one?
Oh. Because this particular voice belonged to something much smaller than a Soquili. It sure looked like one though, only in a pint-sized package. In his time exploring as many lands as he could, he had never seen one that small.
The Universe must have really wanted to take him out of his element after his slumber, it seemed.
"Right back at you!" he called back, barely missing a beat. He chose his next words carefully, never meaning to offend: "I've never seen another Soquili your size before!"

She was hoping to not startle them, but thankfully his responses weren't negative at all. Quite the opposite in fact! She wasn't expecting one to not know of her small stature considering the amount of Usdia that wander the lands.
Jumana steps just a hair forward, barely off the edge of the bank and her tail swishes curiously. "No foolin'? I thought we Usdia were everywhere! Especially my big family!" She of course didn't take his words of any offense, it was hard to really offend someone that embraced everything about herself.
She couldn't help but to look up and down him again, admiring and taking in everything that he was wearing, especially about his head. "Though I've never seen one like yourself really, 'specially how decked out you are. And... correct me if I'm wrong but I'm gonna guess that's not just for show, right?" Curiouser and curiouser she was, her own words meant no harm as well, but she could be a bit blunt and abrasive at times without realizing it.

Abiron grinned. "Us-...dia?" he repeated, feeling how the word sounded in his mouth. "I can't say I've ever seen one of you before."
He stepped out of the stream, bones and beads beating against his body as he closed the gap between himself and his tiny new friend. He was a slightly larger than average beast (and had been told so on many occasions) and felt he absolutely towered over the little Usdia.
"I'm a shaman," he answered simply, quietly, once he got within normal speaking distance, his voice carrying with the gentle lilt of the wind. "Every thing on my body represents something different; the beads, the crystals, the bones..." He made a grand gesture with his antlers into the sky, sweeping them around and making each little thing in them clink like music. "Everything the Universe has to offer, I accept as a gift."
He bowed his head low now -- lower than he normally would, even, taking into account the height of his new friend -- and said proudly, "My name is Abiron, and it is a pleasure to meet you, Usdia friend."

She gave a hearty nod at the repeat of her kind, then tilted her head again. She pondered a moment if perhaps he was living under a rock, but... that'd be too mean to ask and even she knew it. However, she did notice the substantial size difference at it's best now. He was massive compared to her, but the size didn't seem to intimidate her. Perhaps it was because of the friendly air he carried about him.
Upon hearing the answer to all that he carried and seeing every little detail and trinket moving in one, her mini-wings seemed to flutter as her eyes grew wide. Despite how close they were, she burst out and exclaimed with almost too much excitement in comparison to her size, "That is SO cool!! And you have so many too! You must be super connected with the universe then!" She couldn't help herself with her excitement, it was natural for her to be curious about everything and figure out the answers as soon as she could.
Then he had introduced himself, and she couldn't help but to bow her head slightly as well, her hair moving down to touch the ground as she did. "It's nice t'meet ya, Abiron! You can call me Jumana, but I accept nicknames as well!" She ended it with a wink, since she herself was one to grant nicknames to friends and family of her own.

Abiron chuckled deep in his chest at his new friend. He liked to believe he was connected to the Universe, even when it threw him curveballs like his memory loss... He shook the thought from his head. This bubbly little creature was obviously a welcome distraction from his current predicament.
"I try my very best to understand the most basic messages the Universe sends to me," he replied simply, flicking his tail. "You, Jumana, for example, is the Universe telling me that I've missed a lot since I last roamed, and I still have much to learn and see."
He peered at her a little more closely now, examining her wings curiously and making a mental note to ask about them later. "What are you doing out in the woods alone, Jumana?" He enjoyed speaking to her, and her name rolled off his tongue in a pleasant manner. Even her voice, though small, was welcome to his ears, and he assumed asking her questions could potentially answer some of his own in some roundabout way.

"That's so cool..." She echoed, thoroughly enthused. This was turning out to be a much better day than she had anticipated. While every day is always a fun ride for her, the days that go differently than planned are the ones that she cherishes the most. Her impish tail flickered a bit, feeling a soft breeze travel across her back.
"I think I agree with that... I mean, we've been around for a while. 'Least that's what I've been told..." She explained, even more curious at where this stallion had been, she had to ask. "No offense but, were you livin' under a bunch of rocks or somethin'? Like you accidentally hibernated and next thing ya know you've been asleep for a few years?"
She couldn't help but giggle at the end of that, she thought she was being awfully clever with it. And thankfully Jumana was also calming down a little, especially when given the question of why she was out and about in the woods and catching even the way he spoke her name. It... wasn't bad hearing it come from a male. "Celebrating spring's arrival! I haven't had a good run and the weather's been warmin' up so well! There's still a small chill but it was too good of a day to waste without stretching my legs." And if she was correct about his hibernation, she knew that maybe he'd want to do the same thing, hehe.

Abiron winced a little when the mare mentioned living under a rock. Maybe he had missed more than he thought he had...
"I am not entirely sure if I have missed anything," he admitted quietly, looking at everything but the Usdia in front of him, finally settling on staring intently at a rock near his hoof. He hesitated for a moment before continuing, part of him uneasy about sharing a weakness with a creature he barely knew, another curious for answers the Universe had not yet provided. At least if Jumana was not to be trusted, she was small enough to not be much of a bother to Abiron.
"I woke up here, not long before you showed up, with no memory of getting here and no frame of reference for the time I've lost," he explained slowly, choosing his words carefully. "I could have been asleep for a few hours, a few days, a few years..." He trailed off, swallowing hard before looking back into Jumana's eyes. He hoped his own didn't betray his fear.
"The Universe works in strange ways, ones I do not quite understand at this time. But I will." He allowed himself a small, reassuring smile.
