Otto Graves was a stranger in the library. When it came to reading, he tended to simply read what he had, over and over again. And quite honestly he had doubts the library had what he wanted. He could have been wrong, but he'd never know unless he tried. When he did visit, it was in search of information, the likes of which he usually never found.

Today, he walked in with the hopes of brushing up on lore that had to do with several topics of interest; Neverland, Wonderland, and maybe find out who this Morgana person was.

But then he saw Ripley at a table. Asleep. Unguarded. It was so unlike him to nap in public, or so Otto thought. He snuck up to the man, quietly deciding what prank he could pull on the white haired gentlemen. Maybe draw on his face? Scare him awake?

Upon closer inspection, Ripley seemed to have a pen in hand. He must of been taking notes, or maybe playing a crossword? Whatever. It was the perfect weapon of opportunity. Otto, slow and careful, began the delicate process of removing the pen from his hand. But as he did, he noticed something else just before his sleeves ended.

A scar?

A familiar scar...

It was indeed a rare thing for Ripley to fall asleep in public, but really, the library wasn't that public - not many ended up there, and the ones that did typically kept to themselves. He had been brushing up on the horsemen and their histories when the sleepless nights and overall stress finally got to him, and he had fallen asleep at the desk, his head resting in the crook of his arm, his other hand extended as if still trying to write.

He stirred a little bit as Otto tried to take the pen from him, but otherwise didn't wake up.

Otto held his breath, waiting to see if the man would wake. Mercifully he'd only stirred. Otto abandoned his earlier plans and chose to investigate this scar. Gently, he held the man's arm, and slowly pulled up the sleeve.

"Christ..." It was a key. Ripley had one too. It was a mix of emotions. Dread, and yet something else. Someone he knew well was in danger, but at the same time, he had someone to confide in that would share his problems.

Otto was no longer gentle. He had questions. Lot's of them. He shook the man's shoulders to rouse him awake. "Ripley! Ripley, wake up!"

Dimly, he became aware that someone was touching him. The pressure on his arm, the light scrape of his sleeve against his skin. He woke slowly under these small ministrations, and the shake of his shoulders certainly helped. With a gasp he sat up suddenly, snatching his arm away from Otto and closer to himself, already pulling the sleeve down over the mark that had been slowly brought to light. All the while he stared at Otto, his mind quickly catching up to what was happening.

"What the hell?" He demanded, his voice a quiet hiss; they were in a library, after all.

Otto looked over his shoulder, realizing maybe he ought to keep his voice down. That was easy enough, he supposed. He turned back to Riley, squatting down next to his chair in some attempt to remain inconspicuous.

"You got a key." He said in a harsh whisper, his hand on his arm again and his face close to keep their conversation private. "How long ago you get that thing? How long?" He was frantic, his expression urgent and almost manic.

Ripley's eyes narrowed as he was questioned about the key, his unfortunate green mark. Otto had reached out for his arm again, and he leaned back in his chair casually, though he pulled his arm free once more with a sudden jerk. In that moment, he absolutely hated himself; he had been keeping it under wraps. Only Finn knew so far, and he had wanted it to keep that way. Now though, because of his own negligence, Otto was on to him.

"It's none of your business." He hissed defensively, without a second thought.

"You're wrong." He snapped back with a little more personal emotion than he'd liked. "This is my ********' business."

With the most carelessness he'd shown since receiving his key, Otto pushed out his right palm right in front of Ripley's face. In it, was the red mark of his own key shaped scar.

"Start talkin', dickhead."

Ripley's head tilted back a little bit as the hand was thrust into his face, his amber eyes nearly crossing as he was shown the red key scorched into his palm. Colour drained from his face as he realized what he was looking at, and he tore his gaze away from it to look back at the other man once more.

"Where did you get that?" He questioned, turning the question back on him, without giving anything up himself.

"Woke up with it." He answered vaguely, hoping for a little give and take now. He settled his hand down on the arm rest of the chair. "Now you see why it's my business too? Where'd you get it?"

"Woke up with it." Ripley repeated after a rather obviously drawn out pause. Unfortunately, he did see where Otto was coming from now, and why it was his business. His gaze finally dropped from Otto's to stare at his own forearm, where the key rested behind fabric.

"Last October, after that large-scale rescue mission." He answered finally. He started to pack up this things, bringing his notes together and tucking them into his bag. Each motion was calm and collected, like he wasn't in any particular hurry. Yet, at the same time, he wasn't being wasteful about it either.

"I'd rather not talk about it." In public, was left unsaid. His things together, Ripley finally stood. Then, without much of a glance back at Otto, he started to make his way out of the library.

Otto didn't get the hint, and assumed Ripley was trying to lose him. He scoffed, and of course followed him. "Yeah well I do!" He grouched insistently. "Where're you goin'?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 29, 2016 5:15 pm

"You'll just have to follow, then." Ripley said, though he paused just long enough to throw an incredulous look over his shoulder.

"No wonder you're not in Death." He snorted, vaguely amused, and just continued on towards the dorms.

Otto looked offended, and taken aback. "What's that supposed to mean?" He followed him anyway.

"I wonder." He shook his head slowly, somewhat glad Otto wouldn't be able to see the small smile.

Their walk took them to the second floor, where Ripley turned and produced the key to the room he shared with Finn. A lock click later and the door was open, and held that way in invitation.

Otto stopped, his brows furrowing outside Finn's door.

"This ain't your room, is it?"
