Title: Through Lailah's Eyes Story:We were having so much fun!
Papa had come home early that day. He said it was to spend the rest of the day with Mommy and Suzy because it was a very special day. It was the day they decided to become Mommy and Daddy he says. I didn't really understand. But it was ok because we were all happy!
Daddy brought Suzy a present too! A little stuffed bunny baby, with one floppy ear and little pink eyes.
That was me.
She loved me and I loved her sooooooooooooooo much even though she only had me for a few hours! She named me Lailah after Mommy. I played with her and Mommy and Daddy doing so many things! We had a magical tea party where I was the bunny princess and then we all flew around the house dressed up in blankets and pillow sheets pretending we were super heroes! Suzy laughed and smiled so much!
It had gotten late so Daddy told us we had to go to bed now. Suzy didn't want too, she kept saying she wasn't tired and would make cute faces and beg 'pllleeeeeeeaaaasseee!!' Daddy just laughed and scooped us up with one mighty roar and carried us off to bed, pretending he was a monster. Suzy said I had magical powers that could protect her and she held me out to him and he roared again, saying I was too strong for him! He let Suzy go and we ran as fast as we could and dove into the closet to hide. We could hear him stomping around outside but he couldn't find us, my powers were too strong.
We stayed as quite as we could, Suzy and I. We listened as his stomping went away. Suzy couldn't stop giggling and I thought she was going to give us away. Slowly she let me peek out of the closet to see if it was clear. I couldn't see Daddy but I heard something. It sounded like glass breaking.
Then we heard a different roar. It was bigger, louder, deeper, different. I couldn't explain it. Mommy started screaming and Daddy was shouting. The air started to smell funny and Suzy was beginning to get scared. I tired to calm her down as best as I could. I kept reminding her I had powers, I could protect her and that it was ok! But she was too frightened! She ran downstairs to find Mommy and Daddy but all we could see were bright red and orange lights everywhere. It was hard to see and breath. We could hear Daddy but couldn't tell which way to go. I did the only thing I could think of and tried to use my powers to keep her safe.
I told her to go back to the closet, it was safer in there. The bright lights couldn't get us there. We ran back and hid in the far corner. But Suzy started to cough and wouldn't stop. She just coughed and coughed and coughed and coughed even though I begged her not too. I could see the bright lights coming closer and I tried as hard as I could, concentrating all my power to keep it away. She held me tighter, begging me to do something, anything. I could feel drops of water splash down on my head as she cried.
Black air crawled its way under the door showing the bright reds and oranges where to find us. I held my paws out to it to stop it but it wouldn't listen! It just came closer and closer as Suzy coughed louder and louder until suddenly she wasn't coughing anymore. I begged her to move but she wouldn't. She wouldn't speak to me anymore, she just curled up and laid there, not moving.
I tried calling for Mommy and Daddy. I screamed and yelled and cried for them, that Suzy needed help but nothing happened. They never came. The black stuff kept getting thicker and thicker until it eventually filled up the entire closet so that I couldn't see anything, not even Suzy. All of a sudden, a rush of light and heat burst through the door... and then nothing.
I couldn't stop it no matter what I did. No matter how hard I tried.
Why?
Why couldn't I stop it? She told me I had powers to protect her against anything......
