Jacinthus found himself in a rather good mood, enjoying the position of teacher at the moment as he'd put Vhaile in charge of dragging the travois along as the two of them headed out in search of aldabuk. It was early yet, the sun barely rising up, meaning that the beasts the two of them were hunting for were still going to be a bit on the slow side, still waiting up after a night of rest. If they were able to spot them from a distance then they would have a rather good chance at getting their hands on them... well, their arrows on them at least.
He looked over at the boy that he'd put to work and gave a smile and said in a hushed voice, "Be careful not to let the thing make too much noise while we walk. The moment that we find the aldabuk you can lay it down in favor of your bow." They would be able to carry the aldabuk they took down back to the travois after they saw to field dressing them. Once that had been done the creatures were made to be a lot lighter after all. He'd tell Vhaile about that later though, not wanting to talk too much as they would then risk letting the aldabuk know in advance that they were around. Instead he wanted to get the jump on them, it would allow Vhaile to take the first shot at the creatures which was what he wanted to do. Just as with his last students and the seriffin he would let his student shoot first and hope that, despite the boy's reservations, that he knew how to wield his bow.
The two of them were some distance from Yera, possibly a mile, before they spotted the first herd of aldabuk. The small, deer like creatures were up on their feet, chewing on the dry scrub grass that was found all over Tale. It was good to see that they were distracted with their breakfast as it gave the two hunters an opening. It was a good sized herd, a good two dozen aldabuk of various genders and sizes. It would give them a lot to targets to pick from so that they could only get the best for Yera.
Turning to look over at Vhaile he couldn't help but to smile as he saw the boy carefully lowering the travois down to the ground, making sure to be super quiet about it, before he slipped his bow off his shoulder. Jacinthus gave a nod before doing the same, taking out some arrows, notching one of them, and said, "Take the first shot, look for a good opening on a big aldabuk. The bigger the better as there is more meat to be had."
Vhaile gave a nod of his head as he mimicked Jacinthus, notching his arrow and moved to match the stance that the older hunter had taken on. He turned to look over the herd of aldabuk, seeking out a good aldabuk from the looks of the way the boy's eyes were flicking from side to side. Jacinthus turned to watch the aldabuk, waiting to see what the boy decided. It took the young man a moment more before his let his arrow fly. It zipped forward, burying itself into the side of a good sized female, and the creature was only able to take a single step forward before crumpling into a heap.
Jacinthus gave a smile, turning to give the boy a thumbs up, "Good job, Vhaile, I am impressed." He said, then couldn't help but to laugh a little when he saw the look of shock on Vhaile's face. It seemed as though the boy wasn't expecting to hit his target. Or maybe it was that he didn't think he'd hit that well? One shot that landed perfectly and caused the beast to fall almost instantly. It was a nice thing to see as it meant that, despite his fears, that Vhaile had a lot of potential. He could make a very good hunter one day so long as he stuck to it and didn't run away anymore. Here was to hoping that this hunt helped to bolster the boy's confidence.
Turning back to the herd that was starting to mill about a bit Jacinthus drew back his arrow, sending it flying forward, notching a second arrow and took another shot before the first one had even landed. Two shots that caused two aldabuk to drop one after the other. It wasn't any different from normal for Jacin but it did get his student starring, mouth agape, as though he'd never seen such a thing. With a little shake of his head Jacinthus said, "Come on, Vhaile, you don't have to hold back on my account." His call seemed to wake Vhaile up from his stupor and he was was quick to take another shot as well... then another. Vhaile's second shot missed but his third one took down another aldabuk, giving the two men two aldabuk each... and sent the other ones racing off at top speed.
Jacinthus watched them as they started off, turning to look over at Vhaile, giving him a nod, "You did well, Vhaile, I am impressed. Come on, let's go and gather up the aldabuk that we took down, see about field dressing them, and after all of that is done and they are loaded on the travois we might see how far the aldabuk ran." He wasn't sure if there was much of a reason to follow them all that far, they had gotten four aldabuk after all. They could follow a short distance, maybe take a shot or two, but best not to waste their arrows if they were too far off to really have a chance at them.
Vhaile nodded, slinging his bow over his shoulder, then hurried over to the first of the aldabuk that he'd taken down. Once there he drew his knife and... starred.
Jacinthus sighed, realizing that he probably didn't know how to go about field dressing the aldabuk. He really did have a lot to teach his students to make sure they were ready, but he would get the job done, "Alright, watch me as I take care of the first of mine, then go and do the same for the two you go." Jacinthus instructed, moving to his aldabuk so that he could show Vhaile what to do.

After cleaning up the four aldabuk that the two of them had taken down in their hunt, and after they saw to it that the innards were buried so as not to draw in predators, the two of them set to work loading up their kills. The work had taken a little longer then what Jacinthus would have liked but the boy was still learning. He was good with a bow but not so much with a knife, meaning that he needed a lot in the way of instruction, "We are going to follow along after the herd, but not too far. I don't want to stay away from Yera for too long, not when we have so many aldabuk with us." That was just asking for trouble. They had played it safe and buried the innards, but there was still going to be the scent of blood in the air and if the wind picked up it was going to draw in the witu among other predators and carrion eaters.
"Alright, I will get the travois!" Vhaile said after cleaning his hands off with some dirt, running over to the travios, hoisting it up, and started to drag it along. It was a bit slow going but given the determination he was showing Jacinthus saw no reason to try to take the thing from him. Instead he turned and started to lead the way, looking for the herd that they had made one good attack against.
It took a short amount of time but the two of them were able to see the herd... well, at least two members from the herd but given how far away they were Jacinthus wasn't sure if he'd even be able to make a shot like that. Not to mention that even if he were able to make the shot he didn't think it would be worth it. Even if he hit one of them they would have to walk all the way over to it, field dress it, add it to the travois, and then drag all of the aldabuk home. It wasn't quite worth it in his mind. Just as he decided that one of the two aldabuk turned their way, looking toward the two hunters... and they were off and running again.
Giving a shake of his head Jacinthus said, "Alright, we are heading back for Yera now. There is no reason to keep chasing after them, not when they are already too far away for pursuit to really be worth it." No reason to wander too far out, not with as much fresh meat as they were dragging around. Turning on his heel he looked around a moment, getting his barrings, before heading back toward Yera with Vhaile following along behind him, dragging the travois behind him. Jacinthus walked for a short amount of time he said, "If you need a break or some help let me know, I know that thing can get pretty heavy after a while, especially given how much we have piled on it."
