At Large
Prompt 1
Can be used toward Battle req
Solo word minimum is 500

It was bound to happen eventually.

With rumors of great beasts roaming the shores of Yael, many mainlanders flocked across the sea to capture the exotic beasts. In no time at all, they returned with large scaled monsters, dangerously translucent serpents, and turtles that carried the earth. These traders traveled across the Mainland to parade the beasts, going from Matori to Zena and everywhere between. Soon enough, everyone had either seen the Yaeli beasts or at least heard of them.

And they were sure to hear about the beasts when they escaped.

With such little knowledge of the foreign creatures, the traders underestimated the animals. In no time at all, the Yaeli beasts escaped into the wilderness and ended up near your location. With new creatures all but knocking on your door, what do you do? Do you dare to try and tame them, or do you run them off back into the wilderness? You better hurry, because these creatures are lost and scared, and are sure to cause some damage before they are captured once more....

Takoda had been traveling from Jhaur back to Tale and a frown seemed to be etched into his mouth. He had been spending a lot of spare time lately trying to locate his adopted daughter Korra. She had been missing since the last skirmish and the longer time went with her absence the more concerned Takoda became. Chewing on his thumb as he walked through the forest he was distracted until he heard the sudden shriek of anger from an adult Kifna. Instinct drilled into him he ducked down close to the forest floor. Kifna's were pretty territorial if they had young ones about and he had expected something to swoop at him talons drawn.

The flutter of wings never came, though the shrieking continued in almost outrage. The shifter looked up cautiously before standing up seeing that the coast was clear. Looking up he spotted the kifna circling something and trying to chase off ...something. Squinting Takoda couldn't quite make it out but it was soon to become clear when the creature was knocked off the branch it was on and too the forest floor. It was quickly chased by the kifna and without thinking Takoda bolted forward and using his powers raised a wall of earth to act as a barrier between him and whatever it was that had plummeted to the ground.

A shriek of surprise and rage, though the kifna seemed annoyed it was content enough now that the immediate threat to its chicks was gone it quickly gave up the hunt before flying away. Takoda sighed in relief only to be met with a new noise. A rattling sound had begun in earnest and Takoda looked down to see a bizarre creature he had never encountered before looking rather pissed off and alarmed at its new situation. Holding his breath Takoda leaned backwards and as far as he was able with the earth barrier behind him. He wasn't sure it was to safe to lower it but right now he wasn't entirely sure it was safe to remain where he was.

The monk couldn't help it when he knew something was in danger he always put his own safety second. Even for creatures. He was sure Jacinthus would lecture him if he found out what he did here. Into the pan and now the fire. The creature was battered and obviously wary of Takoda's presence. It was long and sleek with gems along its long sinus body. Takoda felt mildly creeped out by it but he carefully lowered the earth shield slowly just in case he drew the attention of the kifna back to them. Swallowing he reached a hand out to test out the creatures temperament. It reared back, flickering its tongue out at him in alarm.

Slowly now, he allowed the creature to get use to his presence, he wanted to heal it. Perhaps a stupid idea, he had no idea if it was poisonous or a new species to the area. Perhaps it was someones familiar? The latter seemed more likely to be the situation. He wondered idly if it could belong to his nephew. It took quite a while of slow movement before the creature's rattling tail finally slowed to a stop. Now it just looked at Takoda's outstretched hand in a curious if shy manner. Smiling he summoned a small amount of water at the tips of his fingers, the rattling began again.

Ah..so it was nervous or at least that was how Takoda interpreted it. It took a long time before Takoda was able to actually use his magic to help heal the creature. Once it got use to the presence of the water on its skin it settled and allowed itself to be healed. Proud of himself Takoda finished healing the creature and wiped his brow after accomplishing his work. His sudden movement however was enough to send the creature off in a bolt towards the roots of some trees to hide in.

Frowning Takoda looked back up into the branches but didn't see any pursuing kifna's and figure that...perhaps it was best to leave the creature. It was healed now and didn't act familar with earthlings...so being a pet seemed unlikely at this point. Turning away he sent a silent prayer to the critter and hoped it would fair well.
