All the names are weird and different.
All the people who are not adults in Japanese are adults in English.
No petting!!
I'm amused by how different it is.

Different names: It's give and take. There are some better 'English' names, some better Japanese names, and some are just as good. (Unpopular opinion apparently: unless it's for a comic book character, which has already been done so you can't do it anyway, giving a character the name Joker is ******** stupid. Jakob 4 superior name 2k16)
Adult thing: What does that mean, considering that their ages are all left vague
No petting: Good.

lol, well America is not quite as cool with the whole ephebophile thing as Japan is, so I'm not surprised the ability to pet 14 year old looking girls did not make the western cut.

Localization also makes things culturally relevant to the people they are marketing the game to. Just like how some jokes in Japanese do not translate into English and vice versa, as has been said, the western world is not as cool with petting small children and making them have babies.
Frankly, I quite like what we got instead. Even though the bonding is still weird for me, especially the "blow gently." It's less weird for me now that I've married someone in Birthright I would actually want to marry as opposed to conquest where it was a gameplay-oriented decision.
I must take notes. When I start dating again, and my boy comes out of the shower, I will blow on him loudly. I will have all of the boifrandos I am sure.
The core game is still good, yeah? Don't let those get in the way.

Can confirm. Directly in their face is the best place to blow. I'm glad the touching was removed since the only person, maybe persons I've only played Birthright so far and haven't married anyone, that is even remotely acceptable to pet is Kaden. It's not the first time they've aged up characters so you get desensitized to it over time. Agree with Rath on the names. As much as I like Silas, Cyrus sounds better in my opinion.

Considering that some games like FE 4 didn't get "official localized names" for a good chunk of years I would have thought that localization name changing would be old hat by now but apparently we haven't crossed that bridge yet.
Petting and characters who are not adults shouldn't be in the same mechanic so good for you localization team.
