Hima paused to stretch her legs as she strolled along the edge of her new home. The Bahari was a nice place to live, but sometimes it was just as dull as the Kizi had been. The Kizi had had their own flavor of crazy to shake things up from time to time, a flavor that Hima wasn't fond of, so she had moved to the neighboring pride. Life was simple and chill which was good, but sometimes she just wanted to sink her claws into something! There weren't many in the pride that were up for sparring, so she figured she'd set her eyes on a passing rogue to surprise them. What was better than an impromptu fight? Nothing, that's what! She found her target not far from the edge of the pride lands and didn't give him much warning before she charged. This was going to be fun.

It wasn't fun being a rogue, Emrys decided. He thought the life of a rogue was glamorous and full of adventure and fun, but so far all he had managed to do was be incredibly hungry and bored. He had ventured from the pride lands to try to find something interesting to do with his life, but so far he had fallen rather flat. The whisper of a pride with mostly females had caught his ear, though, so he was currently on the trail of the Bonelands lions. Unfortunately for him, he had an obstacle in the way. He saw the charging lioness a bit too late to run, so he squared himself and dug his claws into the ground. This would be a good test to see how his time in the rogue lands had toughened him up!

Ah, darn. The lion had spotted her. Hima didn't let that bother her too much though and she continued with her full-on charge. She snarled as she jumped at the lion, claws extended and teeth bared. She really had no reason to fight him other than the fact that she was bored and felt as though her hunting skills needed to be sharpened, but she didn't want to practice on something that would run away. She wanted something that would fight back!
She slammed into the male, teeth tearing at his mane and claws raking down his shoulders. It was a good hit, one that would certainly make him think twice about messing with her ever again if they crossed paths.

Emrys thought the lioness might have changed her tactics when he turned to face her, but he was sorely mistaken. Instead he got the full force of her attack directly in his face and he thanked the gods for his mane, which took the brunt of her bite. It pulled some fur out but she didn't reach his neck. Her claws, however, left painful streaks of red down his front legs.
With a roar he pulled back, swatting at her to try to get her to leave him be. What had provoked this fight in the first place? Was he trespassing? He hadn't noticed any markings to claim the area as someone else's. Maybe she was just crazy.

Emrys didn't know the half of it. Hima wasn't mentally insane, but stir-crazy was just about as bad. She was used to the life of a rogue where she had to fend for herself for anything and everything and, while she appreciated the pride lifestyle, old habits died hard.
As the lion retreated she advanced, perhaps a bit recklessly. She swiped at him as she bared her teeth, missing the lion, but still putting on a bravado that would send them most fierce warriors running. Hima wasn't one to cross despite her beauty.

Emrys got a bit of distance between himself and the lioness, enough that her next attack missed. He wasn't sure if he should fight back or run at this point, but she seemed intent on following him even if he did beat a hasty retreat. He roared a challenge to her and suddenly moved in, landing a hit of his own across her jaw. He kept his claws in, trying to minimize the damage in hopes that he'd stun her and he'd be free to go.
The force of his swing wasn't anything to laugh at, but as it landed he wondered if he should have left his claws out. Perhaps it would have sent a better message. Oh well...only time would tell now.

The swing was enough to knock Hima to the side. Had his claws been out it would have torn her pretty face up pretty badly, so she was thankful for the small miracle, but it did nothing for her temper. She felt a fire burn within her belly as she turned to face the male again, jaw throbbing with pain. She let out a blood-curdling roar as she pounced again, holding nothing back. She had to pay him back for that hit with pain.
Tooth and claw sunk into the lion's side and she jerked her head from side to side to tear away as much flesh as she could. Her claws raked down his legs once again, blood staining her white pelt.

Oh dear. Claws out probably would have been better. Emrys only had a split second to wish he hadn't attacked her before Hima was on him again, this time with a ferocity that made him quake. He tried to move but she was too quick, tearing at his side and leaving more bloody wounds in her wake. He roared in pain and struggled to get free, finally shaking her off after she got a nice chunk of fur and a bit of flesh off his side. He turned to run, not bothering to pick up his dignity as he went. He just wanted to get away from this crazy lioness!

Hima felt a surge of victory as the lion turned to go. She wasn't going to let him of that easy, though! She spat out the fur in her mouth and gave chase, running about even with him as she snarled and roared to egg him on. She reached out for a parting blow, giving his rump a smack with her claws extended. That would show him for....what did he do again? Oh yeah, showed up when she was looking to pick a fight! Ha!

Emrys didn't turn to look at the lioness as she ran beside him. He was breathing heavily to run as quickly as he could, but she still landed one more smack on his rump. Off he went, bleeding and hurting, to return to the rogue lands. He needed to heal up before pressing on and with the damage she had done he doubted he'd be going too far for the next few weeks. Crazy lioness!
