Hyperborea neared a certain bar that she knew. She had planned to make good on a promise she had made a while ago to take Evan to her wonder, she hoped he was available. It was rather inconvenient not being able to contact him ahead of time.
She knocked on the back door that she knew lead to the kitchen, she hoped he hadn't gone home yet. She had tried to judge when to come based on the times she had run into him on his way home before. Thankfully he opened the door.
"Bonsoir Evan, I'm sorry to bother you but if you're free I'd like to make good on that promise I made to show you something amazing. I'd like to take you to my city, my wonder, Hyperborea." She said the offer with a friendly smile.

Evan wasn't used to people knocking on the door; at first he didn't hear it (his fault, for listening to his music so loud). He was just cleaning up the kitchen; his shift was over but he was waiting on a text to see if he was getting picked up or not. His mind immediately connected the dots—the reason he hadn't gotten a text back was because Zack must already be here to take him home.
He grabbed his bag almost immediately, threw the sponge into the sink and turned off the lights on his way to the door. When he opened it, he had a greeting on his lips but froze when he realized that he was looking at someone else.
"Oh," he said, surprised. "Hyperborea!"
It wasn't a bad surprise, and a smile spread across his face.
"You weren't just kidding about that? I don't know if I've got a lot of time to like, take a really long trip. I have a dentist appointment in the morning. Uh, but—"
…But, she was being nice—and he almost never had an excuse to hang out with friends.
"I mean, yeah, I'm game. If you don't mind me smelling like oil. I made a lot of French fries. —You want me to grab a snack or something for the ride?" he asked, jeering his thumb over his shoulder back towards the kitchen.

"The trip there and back is instantaneous, so you just let me know when you're ready to leave and I'll have you right back to earth." She promised. "Um it might be a good idea to pack something, I do have bottled water and some dried food up there for when I stay overnight training but otherwise it doesn't really have anything to snack on."
She waited for him to get whatever food he wanted to take, when he came back she took his hand. "Ready?" She asked waiting for his response before she began the pledge.
"I pledge my life and loyalty to Cosmos, and to Hyperborea. I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine." She spoke the words clearly. In a flash the pair were gone from the Earth.
Just as quickly they reappeared somewhere very different. Beneath them stretched the magnificent city of Hyperborea with it's crumbling yet still impressive walls in the distance. Above them countless stars twinkled and three large purple stars shone brighter than all the rest.
"I welcome you, Evan of Earth, to my wonder, the grand city within the stars, Hyperborea." She said embellishing her words with a curtsy. Behind them rainbow colored cherry blossoms fluttered in the cosmic breeze.

Evan had been quick to grab something quick to snack on—he didn't even make anything, just snagged a candy bar and some snack packs. He grabbed two sodas for good measure threw them in his bag before he'd rejoined Hyperborea.
He didn't really need any snacks; the second they set foot at her Wonder he forgot about everything else. His eyes were wide and he seemed entirely entranced.
It took a second for things to slowly click into place; his stomach had flopped but it wasn't an entirely unpleasant feeling once he realized his feet were still on the ground and she was still there next to him.
Evan had clearly never seen anything like this—not even online, which made everything here just so much more amazing.
"Is…"
He faltered, and had to swallow the lump in his throat. "…Is all of this real?"

She couldn't help but smile it was always such a joy seeing people get their breath taken away by the sight of her city. She always felt so proud of her city and seeing others truly appreciate it warmed her heart.
"Yup it's completely real. This is the home of my ancestors. You are the first non powered person to step foot in this city in a thousand years." She said happy to point out how special it was.
"Oh yeah there's someone I want you to meet." She summoned her war horn to her hand and focus her magic through it. From no where a doe with golden antlers and bronze hooves appeared. "This is my partner, Cerynitis. She serves the knights of Hyperborea and can move super fast." She introduced her summons petting the white fur, which Cerynitis seemed to appreciate.
The purple eyes of the summons watched Evan for a moment before moving forward and bowing her head before him.

"Nonpowered?" Evan prompted, but it was without much thought; he was too distracted by actually taking in the surroundings to invest much focus. He was only half listening when she introduced the doe; he turned to ask Hyperborea another question and froze when his eyes landed on the creature
His mouth was open, frozen in an 'O' shape for a second before he finally said, "Oh. Your…partner? Is it…"
He shifted on his feet, almost uncomfortably. "…A good youma?"
Evan didn't know much about this war, but he knew youma were bad—and he was afraid of anything that didn't look human.
He was also afraid of mostly anything that looked human, or was human, but that was besides the point.

Hyperborea realized the confusion and kicked herself for not anticipating it before hand. "Oh no no no, Cerynitis is completely different from a youma. She's a part of the magic of my wonder but a youma is..." She bite her lip debating how much she should tell Evan about the true nature of youma, the poor man already seemed like he was constantly on the edge of a nervous break down knowing what a youma is might just drive him over the edge. "...a perversion of the natural order. They are creatures so corrupted by chaos they exist outside the cycles of rebirth."
"Cerynitis isn't violent nor does she try to feed on starseed, in fact I don't think she needs to eat at all." She tried to explain.
"Um but yeah, I've only brought senshi and knights up here so far so you are the first normal human to step foot here in at least a thousand years, which at least to me is pretty special." She said with a smile.
"Come on why don't I show you around my acropolis." She offered motioning towards the court yard beyond a giant gate house. An amazing bronze statue holding up a golden javelin, a raised marble dais, and more of the rainbow colored cherry blossom trees could be seen from there.

"Oh," Evan said after a moment, taking in her explanation. He seemed to relax around the creature knowing it wasn't a youma or something violent. "She's pretty," he said after a moment. "And neat."
He gave Cerynitis a look—a smile, even, but quickly trotted over to Hyperborea. "You say 'normal human' like it's something to be proud of," he said—and laughed. Just a little laugh. "But it's an honor to be here. Makes me feel special. So—I wanna see the rest, yeah. What's an acropolis?" he asked after a second, toeing at the ground. "…I didn't really pay attention to a lot in school, so if that's a stupid question, I'm sorry."

Cerynitis seemed appreciative of the compliment as she followed after her knight and the guest.
"Well to me it is. Someday I'd like to see this city repopulated and if that happens it'll be humans living here, so in my opinion the first normal human to visit here is an important thing." She said with a giggle. "Oh no worries its not a stupid question, my papa was Greek so I've been to Athens a few times with him and so I learned the term mainly from that. Basically an acropolis is a settlement or fort on a hill or mountain. In Hyperborea it was the home of the knight and his family as well as the most important temple in the city, the temple of Apollon the first knight of Hyperborea." She explained pointing to the football stadium sized temple.
"Follow me there's something I want to give you, its a special gift unique to my wonder." She lead him to her ancestral home, she had made the gift on her last visit and had stashed it there. "This is the home of my ancestral family.
Once she was inside she found the warm glowing crystal necklace and held it up for Evan. "I want you to have this, I call it the Hope Pendent."

Evan blinked, in a perpetual state of excited confusion since they'd arrived here. "Oh," he said, first at her explanation of an acropolis, and then because she wanted to give him a present. He stared at it for a moment, letting the fact sink in, and then he glanced up quickly, searching her eyes for more of an explanation.
"Wait—Really?" he asked, and hesitantly reached out to run his fingers along the pendant she offered. "It's beautiful. And it looks important—are you sure you want to give me something like this?"
He looked at her, very much wanting to accept but afraid that she might want to reconsider. Evan's brows knit and he watched her inquisitively, asking with his eyes an unspoken, 'Why?'

"I'm very sure, I'm the master of this wonder so it's my right to give these to anyone I want to." She said with a smile as she placed the pendent into Evan's hands.
"You're my friend Evan, I wouldn't have brought you to this city if that weren't the case. I hope that if you're feeling down or defeated that pendent will remind you that their is still light and warm in the Cosmos and that'll give you hope. Everyone has a light inside of them, be they knights, senshi, or even regular people. If you forget that then hold that pendent and try to remember." She said hoping she was making sense and didn't seem like she was preaching too much.
"Want to see something really cool? How about I show you the core of my wonder?" She offered with a grin. She had discovered a bunch of shortcuts to various floors of the labyrinth in the form of tunnel entrances up on the acropolis with stone doors that needed her magic to be opened. They could avoid the dangers of the shifting maze that way and she could show Evan her code piece.

Evan held the pendant like it was a priceless treasure—and it likely was, to him. He was already pretty sure she'd shown him the coolest thing of all, and he had even seemed to enjoy her hope-filled speech. But he couldn’t turn down an offer like that and looked up at her with a little grin.
"What's the Core like?" he asked, already moving to stand next to her. He had a little skip in his step and kept glancing down at the pendant, as if to reassure himself that it was real and that this wasn't all just some fantastical dream.
But Evan knew he wasn't creative enough to be having a dream like this.
It was so out there that he couldn’t imagine it was anything but reality. Only, it was a pleasant change from his normal reality—this was good.

"It's the most special and sacred place in Hyperborea. It's what powers my and my wonder's magic. A piece of the code that empowers every knight." She explained as they reached the entrance to the tunnel. Before them stood a large solid stone slab with a relief of Apollon carved into it.
As Hyperborea touched the slab and willed a bit of her energy into it the slab sunk into the ground. Behind it was a stairwell descending into darkness, the stairs were dimly lit by glowing purple crystals embedded in the wall. "It's a little bit of a walk." She warned before leading the way downward.
After a while of walking they reached the bottom floor of the labyrinth. "Here we go. I give you my wonder's core, the code piece of Hyperborea." She said as she motioned for him to enter the single bright room at the end of a well lit hallway.
The room was well built with beautiful statues, of what Hyperborea assumed were knights, placed in the four corners of the room. There were lines etched into the wall in vein like patterns on the wall that glowed a bright iridescent color. The lines continued onto the floor and all lead to the center of the room where a large floating rainbow colored crystal sat with what looked like fog rolling off of it. A pulsating orb of energy, about the size of a baseball, hovered just within the floating crystal.

Evan started to get a little extra jittery when they neared the Core—not because he was afraid, but because he was overwhelmed. This wasn't normal—and it was a great honor. He wasn't sure he deserved it, but more than that, he was worried he'd mess this up or break something important. On the way down, he'd had plenty of time to examine the room and take in general details while distracting himself, but once they reached the final room he still wasn't prepared.
The Orb in the center of the room was captivating and he found himself staring at it, heart pounding.
"Oh," he said, blinking.
"…That little thing, that gives you all of your power? It gives this whole place magic?"
He was out of breath, not because of the walk, but because of the sheer thought that something like that was real. "…Where did it come from? What do you do with it?"

"Yup but its just a piece, a small piece of the force the empowers all knights. We call it the Code, it's an ancient and nearly all powerful entity. Each wonder holds a small piece of it like this." She said placing her hand gently on the floating crystal.
"And the core of it is protected on Mars." She explained deciding to leave out the piece they found in the Negaverse as she still didn't fully understand it herself.
"I'm not entirely sure where it came from, my ancestors had myths and legends about it but who knows if they were true. Maybe it's just always been here." She hypothesized.
"It mostly just sits there but I do like to meditate here, I feel closer to the Code and my wonder. Oh and I did once use it to burn away some bad air that was corrupting parts of my wonder, that's how I got these marks." She explained motioning to her transcendence marks.
