Hi Readers,

Cupcake Susan here with another instalment chronicling my search to find the very best dessert shops that Destiny City has to offer.

After the pretzels and doughnuts from last time, I decided that this time round that I would venture out and go look for something cake-y.

My travels took me to uptown and to a road called Guenther Promenade in particular where there were a few places that looked promising.

In the end however I could pick only one however and so I decide to try out The Cupcake Connection.

The Cupcake Connection

The Cupcake Connection is located on the Madison Court side of Guenther Promenade and is a couple of shops down from a dress shop.

The shop itself has a black trimmed white shop front, with a pink awning above the door leading inside and the shop name in black above the awning.

There were a couple of wire tables on either side of the shop door that looked like it would perhaps make for a nice place to sit and while away some time with a friend during the warmer months.

Menu
As you have probably guessed The Cupcake Connection specialises in cupcakes with the standard flavours of chocolate, strawberry, red velvet and vanilla all available both in standard and in minis.

They also have a few other flavours - Lamington chocolate, salted caramel and strawberries and cream that come in standard size only as well as a couple of specials that change on a monthly basis (this month's specials are apple cinnamon pie and lemon meringue).

And whilst cupcakes are the main focus, The Cupcake Connection does have a couple of cakes on offer that you can order by the slice with red velvet and vanilla the flavours for those who prefer to have their cake in cake-slice size.

I went for a vanilla and red velvet mini cupcakes and one of their salted caramel standard and all three cakes were nicely presented.

The red velvet cup cake was a delight - beautifully moist with just enough cream cheese frosting and was moreish enough for me to buy a slice of their cake-slices to take away with me.

The vanilla cupcake was okay - the sponge was lovely - however there was a tad too much frosting for my tastes.

The salted caramel cupcake was a disappointment - again there was a bit too much frosting for my tastes and it was also too heavy on the salt side.

I did also try one of their lattes and it came nice and hot, although it was a little on the pricey side.

Interior
I found the inside very sleek and very neat.

The Cupcake Connection uses an island set up with available cupcakes on display under glass.

The cakes available by the slice can be found further along the island, neatly set up on top of glass covered cake stands and prices and specials are neatly chalked up on black boards located behind the till.

A few soft drinks and juice are kept in a fridge near to the till area and teas and coffee are also available.

There is a bit of seating located towards the end of the shop in the form of three tables and twelve seats for those who want to sit in and the helpful staff on duty assured me that there was further seating available downstairs.

Pricing
Overall it was a bit on the pricey side, especially as mentioned earlier for the coffee. The red velvet cake however was delicious and was definitely worth every penny.

Final note:
Apparently Sundays (which is when I stopped by) are relatively quiet, however week day afternoons are generally very busy and if planning to eat in then you are probably going to want to book a table.

And that's it from me for today, but expect to find me back again soon with another delicious place to try.
