Orpheus Solon

Days had passed since she had found out the truth regarding her family. Phaedra had taken it out on herself which had resulted in unconsciousness but now she was wandering toward her goal. Twigs, leaves, and dirt were stuck in her hair since she hadn't bothered to brush them out. At this point she was simply too upset to care. She even had some dirt smudges on her face, arms and legs to go with it. Not to mention the red rimmed eyes from constantly crying. It was a wonder she had managed to bring her weapon with her at all.

Staring at the ground she watched as it slowly went by with each step. Phae knew only that she was traveling south, apparent by the heat that greeted her, but other than that.. she was lost. When she managed to find a road she followed it as far as it would take her.

Mano had left Kyrian at the camp that the two of them had set up, heading out with trident in hand to see about finding them something to eat. He'd seen a few interesting animals since they'd entered Oba, the sort that he felt would be tasty if caught and roasted over a fire. He meant to catch them two of them something delicious, cook it up, and then they would be ready for the next step of their journey. At least that was his thought until he turned to look at road that he was, for the most part avoiding. There wouldn't be anything walking around the roads since it was often busy with people. One couldn't find prey on a busy road... but they could find a Leaf Tribeswoman?

He starred for a long moment at the one walking along before him, his head cocking to one side, "Phaedra?" He murmured to himself, wondering what had brought her here. Was this where her journey had brought her? He started forward toward her, lifting a hand to wave it, "Hello there, Beautiful! What brings you here to Oba?" He called out, curious if she'd remember him since their meeting had been a short one. Well, short but rather exciting given that she'd gotten tackled by a Yaelian serpent. Maybe due to that excitement she might remember him? He hoped so at least.

Hearing words startled her. Phaedra had been avoiding the roads until now and hadn't come across another person in a few days. Her head lifted up and she blinked her eyes to clear them so that she could see who it was that was speaking and if, in fact, they were even speaking to her.

When she saw Mano she stopped dead in her tracts. Phae just stood there. Was it a mirage that she was seeing now? Was she suffering from heat exposure? "Mano...?" Her weak voice called out. "Mano." She said it again, this time a bit stronger. Then she started to walk toward him. I didn't know where else to go.." Phaedra said, almost speaking non-sense. "I was hoping..." She didn't get a chance to finish her sentence because her foot caught on something which caused her to stumble forward.

Mano found himself starring, his smile falling as he heard the tone in her voice, "Phaedra?" He murmured, blinking as she tripped and fell. It was that tumble that caused him to rush forward, trident in his hand. His mind was racing, wondering what was going on. Was she alright? Had she gotten hurt? Attacked? It could be the weather given that it was so hot and dry here in Oba. He dropped his trident before he fell to his knees next to her, looking her over closely, a serious look on his face.

"What happened? Are you injured? Dehydrated? Talk to me, Phaedra!" He sounded genuinely concerned as he looked her over. If she was injured what was he going to do? He wasn't a healer, neither was Kyrian, he supposed that they could gather their things, as well as Phaedra's things, and head to the closest city. While he had been meaning to only go to the outskirts of the cities of Oba if it meant taking care of a beautiful damsel he'd do everything he could do to help.

After he gave her a once over, and didn't see any bloody wounds, he helped her to sit up before he dug out his water skin from his pack, "Here, drink. It will help strengthen you stave off the heat."

Her head shook slightly when he asked if she had been hurt. Phaedra didn't want him to worry about that. Though she did take a drink before she spoke to make sure words would form. "I never should have gone there.." Lifting her eyes to meet his he'd see that she had been crying more than anything else. "I don't want to go back to Jauhar, Mano. I can't face it.." Phae shifted so that she was closer to him and leaned her weight against his body. "I'm sorry, I didn't know where else to go. I remember you said you were going this way and..." Well really, that was about the gist of it. He was practically her safe zone at the moment.

When she calmed a little she simply looked at him before asking. "Can I come with you?"

"Gone there?" He asked, worried now that someone had been mean to her. Had they roughed her up? Picked on her? Stolen from her? He supposed that there were many things that could have been done to her, something he knew well himself. That she didn't want to go back to Jauhar was something that he understood as well. He hadn't wanted to go back to Matori for the longest time, something that he was doing his best to go against on his current trip... though it seemed as though his trip was also meant to happen so that he could find Phaedra again. It was likely due to the influence of On'os, the God of Fortune must have nudged him in this direction.

Giving a smile he said, "I am glad that you thought to come find me." That someone would think him reliable enough that she'd follow after him caused him to smile. Shifting himself so that he was on one knee, his back to her, he said ,"Come on, I will see about bringing you back to where my companion is waiting. We can all sit down, chat, and see about where we want to go next in our journey. I think that it might be good if you see a healer, just in case. Oba can be really rough on those who aren't ready."

"It will give us a chance to pick up some more supplies too. If we are all going to be traveling together we will need plenty for everyone." He said, giving her a gentle smile.

She hung her head slightly. "I went looking for my mother. I thought she had abandoned me when I was younger but..." She closed her eyes as the tears started to well up again. Phaedra didn't like that she had thought something awful about a woman when she didn't know the truth. It had opened her eyes to a lot more things in life. "She.. my father had cheated on her... I wasn't her child..." Admitting that to someone else felt like she was saying she was a sin. It made Phae shiver and want to make herself smaller.

However, when Mano said that he was happy she came to him she blinked and chanced a look at him. The leaf woman stood there for a moment before she took him up on his offer. Phaedra wrapped her arms around him and snuggled in close, needing that feeling for comfort. Since she was petite she didn't weigh much, it was just her trident that would make things awkward to walk with.

"Ahhh... I see. That must have been hard..." To learn such a terrible thing, that her mother wasn't her mother? That wasn't even something that he could comprehend himself. Pushing himself up to his feet, pack over shoulder, and two tridents in one hand, along with Phaedra on his back. He was feeling a bit like a pack beast at the moment he realized after a few steps that it wasn't exactly all that much strain on him. Seemed he was in better shape then he thought.

Looking over his shoulder he gave Phaedra a smile and said, "You can stay with Kyrian and myself as long as you need, my green eyed princess. I hate the thought of you being all alone." He'd rather she stayed with them, cheered up, and felt better.

Being off her feet was both a relief and scary. Phaedra didn't exactly let people carry her around. So her body tensed a little when Mano stood up but she slowly relaxed and nodded her head at him. Even with his head turned she couldn't reach his cheek so instead she placed a kiss to his neck. "Thank you." Phae rested her head on his shoulder and watched the road. "Who is Kyrian?" Last she'd seen him he had been alone.

Mano found himself smiling a bit despite himself as he got the kiss on the neck, it was unexpected but very welcome. He turned to look back at her, his cheeks coloring just a touch at the question about Kyrian, "I know it might sound silly but he might have been my first love back when I was a prentice. That's a secret though." He said, giving her a little wink, "He's a good friend too, one of my lovers, and various other titles. He was hurt recently too, abandoned by the person who was supposed to love him, and I want to protect him as well."

Looking ahead again he said, "If I could save everyone I care for, keep everyone safe, see them happy and smiling I would do anything in my power to do it." How he wanted to do so, to protect his friends and lovers, to make sure that they were kept safe from... well, everything. It was a dangerous world where a lot of people were hurt by others, and if he could protect a few from that and make them happy then Mano was turn happy as well.

She saw the blush in his cheeks when he spoke about Kyrian and she grinned at him, though it was a bit weak since she was exhausted. "I hope I'm not imposing then." Though she could always pretend to not hear or see anything if they wanted to be close in private. Phaedra gave a small giggle. "If you have food then I can whip together a meal while you two snuggle under the blankets." That would keep her attention for the most part.

Just to be sure she reached to her side to make sure she still had her seasoning bag. Phae was happy to feel it still there and wrapped her arm back around Mano.

Mano shook his head, "Not imposing at all, Pretty one. I think you should stay with us for as long as you like! If you want to come along to Matori I see no reason why you can't." He gave a smile as he continued to walk, heading in the direction where the small camp was located that Kyrian was waiting at. It wouldn't take too long for them to get back where they would all be able to sit down and chat he thought to himself. He thought that it would be nice, to sit with them both, chat, and share a meal... and in Mano's perfect world share other things.

"You cook?" He asked when she was suddenly offering to make the lot of a meal while Mano 'snuggled under the blankets' with Kyrian. Giving a bright, feline like grin, Mano said, "You're more then welcome to join us under those blankets, Beautiful." He said, giving her a playful wink.

"I'd like that, thank you. Matori sounds nice." Since she was being carried she closed her eyes for a moment so that she could relax even more. Phae felt like she could sleep for weeks and not be rested. Mano's question about her cooking made her nod and purr a yes before she reluctantly opened her eyes again to look at him. She just managed to catch the grin he gave before his last words caught her ears.

A small laugh left her. Phae wasn't offended by the invite but she wasn't so sure Mano's lover would approve, so she deflected with a quip about her appearance. "I don't think you can call me beautiful at the moment. I'm not likely to be in any shape to join anyone under the blankets. I'm pretty sure there is a tree in my hair and my body has seen better days. I would scare Kyrian away."

Mano gave a smile, "It... does. I mean, I am looking forward to going even if I am a little uncertain about it all." He murmured, then shook his head, "But that isn't something that you should worry about. You should just worry about resting up." No reason to burden her with his issues when she had a lot of her own issues that she had to work through. He wanted to protect both Kyrian and Phaedra from the world meaning that he would be the strong one for them both. Here was hoping that there would be some sort of good news waiting for them when they got back to Matori or else he wasn't sure what he might do.

Turning to look back at the girl on his back he gave her a once over as she spoke, then chuckle, "I suppose you do have a tree in your hair, huh? Well, even so, I think that you look nice... ah! Though if you'd like we are staying near an oasis, you can probably soak there if that helps?" He knew he'd done so himself when they arrived at the camp to get himself cleaned up and cooled off. Getting a nice soak might be good for the pretty Leaf Tribeswoman.

Giving a chuckle he said, "I don't think you could scare Kyrian, you're too pretty for that even with your tree hair accessory."

She could sense the hesitation in him, it was how she had felt before she went to Tale to find her mother. Phaedra leaned her head more toward his for comfort. "It's good to have people with you when you are uncertain though." Thinking back on it she should had asked someone to go with her. Too late for that now.

As Mano looked at her then agreed about the tree in her hair she had to bury her face against his shoulder with a groan. "Is it that bad?" Phae knew she hadn't taken the time to do much with it but she was hoping it didn't look like she was some type of tree monster. Then the mention of an oasis had her looking up at him. "Oh? I don't suppose I could enlist your help with that then? The tree will need to be removed so I can wash." And since Phae didn't have the energy to keep her arms up in the air long enough to really pull out the twigs she was hoping Mano wouldn't mind.
