Carminer was wandering through the paths of Sauti, contemplating his next move on his journey while his siblings scouted for a good place to camp. It was evening and they were not close enough to a settlement to make the trek, and as a result they would sleep under the stars once more. It wasn't the worst case scenario, but he did prefer a bit more of a soft bed and a nice drink to keep him warm each night. However, tonight was something special, all things considered.
With them traveling across the lands, they actually happened to run into a familiar face in the form of a cousin. Amarone was the character, but she was family, and Carminer was glad to encounter her. She had quite a few tales to share, and so they spent the time walking together and letting his siblings do most of the work.
It was a typical behavior, but they seemed to not mind. It might have been the few times he tried to help when he had quite a bit to drink, but they refused to give reason.

Amarone was babbling, although she wouldn't admit it. In her mind, she was simply catching up on lost time with her boisterous cousin. Carminer, shorter of the two and a bit more robust, had aged into a seasoned traveler it seemed. His clothing was the dirtiest she had ever seen, but he didn't seem to complain. Instead, she watched him sip from his waterskin and grinned to herself.
He did quite like the drink.
"So, Carminer, rumor has it you are wandering about with a goal in mind...something about a great recipe lost in the mountains?"
Her grin was playful as she nodded to herself before plowing through, "I can help you, you know, I've got quite the skill in creating and crafting. I could help you create a better pack, or even some tools if you are going into the mountain. I also can help if you do find that wine-making process, because I am the greatest inventor this side of Sauti!"

Carminer grinned as his eccentric cousin, nodding slowly at her offer. He wouldn't turn down such help, and she could possibly assist with Chardae in creating items to hold the wine. Or she could help with creating the tools to make the wine. With it being within the family, he really liked the idea of getting Amarone's help. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, a loud noise caught his attention.
They were in an area with a bit of grass, but he could see what looked like a rock moving their way. Blinking once, then twice, he turned toward his cousin.
"Is the land moving, or have I had one too many drinks tonight?"

Amarone stilled a moment, her eyes also going wide at the sound that distracted her from their conversation. She felt a few tremors as the earth got closer, and took a step toward her shorter cousin.
"No...I see it moving too, and I didn't have anything to drink..."
She began to babble, pulling him away from the immediate path, "You don't think it's a great beast from Zena? No, they just have hair and it's not as if they would charge in and attack. No, it's got to be something else...oh dear...maybe we should get Ori..."
Then, before their eyes, the beast emerged from the grass to reveal itself as a Limbara, a creature not often seen in the lands. Amarone let out a squak that was a mix between surprise and excitement, her body beginning to shiver and wigle at what she was seeing.

Carminer regretted that he left Orivato behind as he caught sight of the large creature, and unlike his cousin he held no excitement at the sight before him. Instead, he groaned good naturedly and took a deep breath.
"Amarone, we need to move slowly away from this...thing...whatever it is..."
He had no clue, but somehow he had a feeling he was looking at a foreign beast. Maybe it was from Oba, those fools loved large lumbering creatures. Either way, as it turned to look at them, he was at least glad there were no sharp teeth to snap at his feet as he ran away.
Maybe he had a bit of a chance.

As Carminer backed away, Amarone stood in awe at the size of the beast. In her mind, she pictured a rider atop the great thing, and wondered how easy it would be to swing around a spear from that height. Obviously, bow and arrow would be much more logical, if one were to go down a fighting path. However, maybe it was just the height that amused her, as it was something so novel and unseen. Just the sights from that angle must be glorious.
Her thoughts were broken as she felt Carminer's presence back away, and she glanced over her shoulder in confusion.
The beast snorted, and she snorted right back.
"Carmi, come on, maybe we could tame it! Do you have any rope? I dont think mine is long enough..."

Was his cousin seriously standing there contemplating how to ride such a beast? Carminer was filled with liquid courage, but even he didn't feel such impulses to test his own life. He enjoyed his feet on the ground, away from fighting and the risk of death, thank you very much.
"Amarone, it doesn't seem to want to rush us, so let's just get out of here. Leave it alone, it obviously doesn't want to bother us..."
The soft snorting seemed to sound like a grumble, and Caminer moved closer to pull his cousin back in effort to brake her crazy focus.
Knowing his luck, she'd attempt to approach it next.

Her aquamarine eyes were fixated on the beast, and she shrugged off Carminer's weak grip. Shaking her head, her eyes narrowed in determination and she took a step closer.
"I'm gonna try and touch it..."
Grinning back at her cousin, she slowly approached, watching the animal to see if it would do anything. It seemed fine enough, but its eyes were steady and set on her form as if watching and waiting for a reason to act.

Carminer was no hero. He wasn't the time to rush head first into a fight to save some damsel in distress. No, when the going got tough, he turned the other way and hid in the bar where the prices went down. So when Amarone began to approach the beast, Carminer moved back and shook his head in exasperation.
The girl was going to get a limb torn off.
"Amarone really, just let it be on its way, there is literally no reason or sense for you to try and tame such a beast! Let's get back to the others."
One last attempt was made as he swiped at her satchel, tugging lightly to pull her away.

Amarone laughed, actually laughed, when she felt her cousin pull her back, before swiping at his hand and forcing it off her pack. In doing so, she finally approached the beast and eyed the tough hide and moss on its body. It seemed as if it was not from this land, but still a part of it. Maybe it was one of those creatures from across the sea, a place she planned on visiting in the near future. Yes, that could possibly be it!
As she moved her hand up slowly, the beast suddenly decided to fixate its attention on her, and it slowly turned its head to look up at her with a focused stare.
This was it, and Amarone reached out to try and touch its head.

As she pushed his hand back, Carminer took a step back and gaped. Amarone was attempting to touch the monstrous beast, as if it were a pet for them to play with. Babbling and wishing his wine skin was not empty, all he could do was watch with growing horror and pray to the gods that she would come out of this with limited pain.
As he watched Amarone drift closer, he continued to picture how he would go to his aunt and uncle, and her siblings, to explain what might just be happening before his eyes. Such thoughts made his chest hurt, and he let out one last whine of a plea, "Amarone, come back here at once!"

Amarone was too far focused to notice her cousin's final attempts, as her hand was inches away from the maw of the beast. As she brushed her fingers across it the lightest bit, the Limbara snorted and fully focused on her. It was a split second where their eyes met, and suddenly the Limbara let out a loud noise before stomping back.
Amarone gasped and pushed back as well, and the Limbara seemed to groan before stepping back, turning, and moving away into the brush in what seemed like a gradual rush.
"Darnit All!" She gasped out, before spinning around to look at her cousin with a wide grin.

"Are you crazy!"
Carminer cried out, gaping as the beast ran off. He couldn't even comprehend what she was thinking, and he all but grabbed and pulled her back toward the direction they were camped. The two needed to get back, especially if the beast decided to return and finish whatever Amarone had started.
"I swear, I am never going out with you again...I'd love to keep my head on my shoulders so I can finish my goal, not be trampled by some beast..."
Amarone was a wild card, and often Carminer enjoyed it, but this time he wished Orivato was the one entertaining her.
