Gaps
"So you remember pretty much nothing from your promo mission, and whatever it is that's caused it is what's causing the other..." He paused, hand swishing through the air as he hunted for a word. "Glitches."
He'd let it go for a while, which had been easier the first few days Ever had been back, but now things were settling again, and the Life was returning to a semi normal routine, it'd become harder not to ask. Ever didn't like to talk about heavier things, but this was kind of important.
To his credit, Zeke was maintaining a rather clinical tone, more interested than worried. Since Ever seemed perfectly fine in every other way beside the occasional brain trip, that was actually pretty easy to maintain.

Under furnished"You know, it wasn't as obvious downstairs, but you are severely lacking in personal effects." He was sitting on Ever's bed in just his jeans, back against the wall and ankles crossed. There was a book open on his lap, but apparently he'd stopped reading it, attention drawn tot he barrenness of Ever's new room. And be blue I'll add more as I think of them

Under FurnishedEver'd gotten exactly one chair, at least, purloined from somewhere -- well, unpleasant, since portals were still down for personal use. It was old, battered, wood with a cushion that had mostly been torn to shreds, but he sat in it anyway, with long legs stretched out toward Zeke and a notebook across his knees. He looked up at the statement, though, considering, his own eyes following the sweep of Zeke's gaze around the room. "...I never really kept many things, I guess." But there was the rack, at least, and the iron maiden, brought up by Rep. It made him smile. "If you want to dress it up, though, I don't mind."

Under furnishedThat would earn Ever a raise of auburn brows, features showing a very brief flicker of surprise before the expression was schooled. An unexpected offer, for sure. Better to simply roll with it, rather than question it. "Sure." Portals bring down, any available furniture they had easy access to was probably shoddy at best, but Zeke was a resourceful man. He could probably scrounge a few things up to serve, until the portals were up again for personal leave. "I'll see what I can find." A desk, at the least.

Gaps
Ever thought about the question for a very long moment before he answered: quiet and sprawled, his eyes half-closed. Weighing the truth of his words before he spoke, struggling to put a feeling into speech.
"There are some dreams." It didn't help, but it was true. He looked up at Zeke. "I don't remember them, either, but I know I have them."

"I'd love new sheets." It was musing, as he plucked at the practically army-issue things sprawled across his bed. Distracted, maybe. Ever's eyes strayed around the room, trying to figure out what else he might need, and finally settled on the ceiling. He didn't say anything else, but just a hint of color came to his face as he considered.

Tweet Tweet"It makes my head hurt, and I'm not sure if that's a side-effect or if I'm just tired of it." Ever said it in a matter of fact way, but without meeting Zeke's eyes: phone in his hand, and he paged absently down without actually reading any of the tweets in his feed. He shook his head, finally, tossing the phone aside to focus on more important things. "This isn't just..." The word fled. He closed his eyes for a moment, rolling two fingers slowly until he found himself again. "It's the cycle. It's all the same. It makes me tired."

Gaps
Pushing his glasses up to rest on his head, Zeke set his research notes down on his lap, looking down at Ever as he spoke. There was a part of him who hadn't expected much of an answer, but he'd still had to ask.
He'd thought the month they'd all lost being in that coma after his own promo was bad enough, but at least they'd been accounted for, under observation. There had been an explanation of sorts. This was different. This wasn't just sleeping away an amount of time. This was loosing time that you'd actually been conscious for. It seemed worst, somehow.
"Maybe it'll come back to you." He didn't remember the dreams now, but maybe he would later, now that he was falling back into a routine on the island. "Dreams'll start sticking."
But was it better knowing, or not knowing?

Sheets would probably be easy to get his hands on than furniture. He made a mental note, glancing around himself, before Ever's silence pulled his attention back around. He was blushing, just a bit.
Smirking, Zeke closed his book and lay it on his lap, hands folding on top of it. "You've thought of something else you want?" There was the faintest hint of amusement to his voice, but the question was serious.

Tweet tweetIt had been a casual comment. Something said without expecting much of anything in return besides perhaps something sarcastic or biting. Instead he got something more serious, and it had auburn brows creasing over his nose. Zeke thoroughly enjoyed giving Ever a hard time. Turn-about was fair play, after all, and usually the Lifer seemed to delight in pushing as many buttons as he could get away with. Since he'd gotten back, however, whatever had stolen his memory also seemed to be making him a tad more honest that he usually allowed himself to be. It was strange. Not entirely unwelcome, but strange. "Don't worry about it, then." He didn't really bother with the main feed much himself. For the most part he used it for DMs, and he only ever bothered talking to a tiny handful of people. "Not a big deal." He'd been kicking his boots off, and now came to stand near the other man, laying a hand on the back of his neck. Fingers kneading in what was probably a fairly transparent attempt to distract him away from twitter altogether.

Under furnishedIt got a look, brief: just a flash of his eyes in Zeke's direction as he rolled up to sit again, instead, scraping the messy halo of his hair back down into something resembling tame. And, just like that, he waved off the question. "I want a bigger bed, but how would it even fit through the portals?" It wasn't the first time he'd had this thought, and also probably wouldn't be the last. "In pieces? Is that how beds come..?"

Zeke just smiled at him, not at all surprised when the other man failed to answer. He hadn't really expected him to.
"Bigger than a queen? Greedy." He chuckled, lifting a hand to stifle a yawn, then continued. "But if you did get a new one, the frame comes in pieces, with the mattress compressed into a tight roll." Depending on where and how you got your hands on it.

Smoke and fireEver would be sought out while Zeke was on break, and when he did, catching the other man with his nose in a book and a slight frown on his lips, he'd toss a pack paul malls on the desk next to him. "Wasn't sure if you were running low." Yawning, obviously at the end of a long evening shift, folded his arms as he leaned his butt against the edge of the desk.

Smoke and fire
"This is killing me, seriously." He said it slowly, distantly -- grabbing the cigarettes off the desk and popping them open to see just how many were in the pack. Full. It made him close his eyes for just a moment, sitting back and tapping the box against the desk.
"How much longer, do you think, before they let us go shopping off island? I have money money than I know what to do with, except that I need some supplies..."

"You know how to build a bed?" He shrugged, slowly, the flush faded away to nothing by the change in subject. Ever rolled over to grab his laptop, cracking it open to a messy notepad document that tracked his finances. He really did have a lot of savings, at this point. He probably could afford something nice.
"Do you know where to get a bed?"
