It has been seven long years since the Great Oban Invasion. It almost feels like a dream, considering all of the changes that have occurred in Tendaji since the great war. A new King sits on the Oban throne, and he has opened the boundaries of Oba and Matori. Many already are taking advantage of the open boarders to travel and explore. The world was expanding and changing all things to the massive war of the great nations.
Since the war, Tendaji took a stand against the extremist Alkidikes and won. They came together to show a new alliance that many could never dream of. Everything was settling, and now that there finally was peace everyone has begun to to take a moment and remember all that has come and gone.
How have the major wars and changes impacted your character these past few years? Are they bitter for their failures or happy about their success? Do they see a peaceful future to come or are they concerned about those who may be still holding grudges?
[Characters not part or even alive during the war can still respond to this prompt. Maybe they have a different way of understanding the war compared to those who were part of it, so feel free to explore those feelings and thoughts in your response

Riona sat listening to a storyteller, eyes wide as she absorbed the heart pounding tale of the Obans first encountering the rest of Tendaji (or was it just that they finally left their desert finally and already knew of the people beyond?) and the tales of battles, the fall of Neued, the final battle where the Matorians made their stand to free themselves! It was all so very epic and huge. Did such a thing really happen? Or was this more lies and just a story that had some truth but mostly just tall tales? As she was skipping home, ears and mind filled with visions of tall warriors battling it out, majestic last stands, glorious charges; a thought occurred to her. Daddy had mentioned being captured at one point... and Mummy had... not mentioned it at all. Like she avoided that topic and Daddy always moved the conversation when others tried brining up things like the Oban war. Riona stopped and pondered this... why did they act that way? She knew her father limped on days with really bad storms, and when she’d asked he’d just smiled and said it was an old war wound. Had her father and mother fought there? If so why would they hide it? Did aunty Kel know or her Gruncle or grandma know? She thought for a moment and shook her head. Granny was scary to approach! And Aunty was off in Oba apparently for some reason.
And Gruncle was off in the jungle like always... he never stopped by! She sighed; would she ever find out what had happened? I bet Daddy will say ‘when you’re older,’ she grumbled to herself as she continued on home. What did happen? Her mind spiraled out and tried to come up with reasons why her parents didn’t talk about it too much. And why her father got quiet when things like Oba were discussed.
If they had fought; why not be proud of it? Perhaps the capturing part might make her daddy not want to talk about it… but daddy was fine talking about his failures! So why would he not talk about it? He was proud of his fighting abilities; that’s why he helped train new fighters in this town right? And he had a Janarim... and had said he got it in Oba…. So he’d obviously been to Oba… So many questions and secrets! Why why why? She growled and stomped about; not noticing her great uncle Trom sneaking up behind her.
She squeaked when he scooped her up and waved her small fists about as she struggled to be released.
“What’s got you so distracted?” rom spoke softly as eh held the wriggling girl out from him. Rioina stopped struggling and flipped upside down in Trom’s hands to grin at him.
“Gruncle!” She giggled and wriggled back upright. “Why don’t daddy and mummy talk about the Oban war?”
“That’s random.” He muttered as he placed her on his shoulder.
“I heard all sorts of tales and stories from the teller at the tavern!” Riona smiled for a bit before pouting, “But I realized Mum and Da never talk about it.. but Daddy has a war wound and mentioned being a prisoner, he has a Janarim but never talks about Oban things…. And Mummy doesn’t even mention Oba! Why Gruncle?”
He stayed silent for a while and Riona started to worry he too would say the dreaded words of ‘when you are older.’
“Your father was in the war when an Oban group got to Ast here… the war had ended but they were so far out of communication they didn’t know.. Lasarra was captured by them and part of Ast burned down.” He said finally and Riona went still. What?
“Ray returned to find no sign of Lasarra… Searched for years until he’d lost all hope of her being alive. Eventually he went traveling to try and heal himself.. and on his way back from Matori he found Lasarra still held captive by Oban bandits. Does that explain why neither like to discuss it?” Trom simply told the story; added no frills or extra scenes like the story teller had. Somehow it made it worse to Rina; now her mind filled in the blanks.
“Was Mommy hurt badly?” She asked quietly, eyes wide.
“Lasarra was hurt yes, but she recovered in time… having Rayolun here with her and you twins helped her immensely.” Trom smiled as they reached Riona’s home. “Your father did not want to infect you with his dislike of Obans; it is probably why he never mentioned it. He never could bring himself to forgive the Obans for what happened... and I feel he still blames himself for not being here with Lasarra needed him.”
Riona nodded. That did make sense… She would keep quiet on it and talk to her father later… when she was older.
