Hi Readers,
Sorry for the silence.
I’ve been settling in across the shores in what’s to be my new home for the next 3 years.
But Cupcake Susan is back and ready to go, with news on all the best dessert shops that I can find over here in Destiny City.
And as before I’ll be using my simple cupcake rating for taste, sweet treat visuals, atmosphere and value for money.
See below for a quick reminder of my cupcake rating:

I could have just left it here, but thought that it would be unfair to sign off without mentioning at least one place and so thought that for this first blog overseas that I would start with a little place that I uncovered called the Dough Knot.
The Dough Knot
The Dough Knot is a small little bakery that is located downtown on Tanglewood Avenue between what looks to be a former bookshop one side and a former charity shop on the other and whilst the outside doesn’t give away much, there is a smell of sugar and cinnamon that is absolutely divine.
Menu
The shop appears to specialise in baked goods with everything baked in house and whilst the menu isn’t the biggest one they do a few desserts with visitors able to choose from a choice of mini doughnuts, cinnamon buns or sugar or cinnamon pretzels. They also do a selection of tea and coffee (inc. flavoured coffee).
I went with the cinnamon pretzel since they seem to be pretty popular with the crowd and received one that was not long out from the oven.
It was soft, warm and chewy with the right balance of cinnamon and very, very moreish, however the coffee in the white chocolate mocha that I ordered to go with it could have been hotter.
I also tried a cup of the mini doughnuts that came in a cup of 5 and whilst they weren’t as good as the pretzel, they were pretty good and came nicely presented.
Interior
The inside can be probably described with just a single word – cosy and whilst the bakery does offer a bit of seating – seating here pretty much appears to be made up of four small tables and a mixture of benches and stools.
I was lucky enough to grab a seat by the table next to the lone window looking out on to an alleyway, however the proprietress, Mrs Brodbeck, is friendly and to be honest if you are stopping by here then you are probably not coming here for the outside view.
Pricing
Very, very reasonable which probably explains why a lot of people stopping by appeared to be college students.

- Taste:
A bit of a tough one this time due to the small let down with the coffee and so I have done a split rating

Final note:
You are probably going to want to come early morning or in the early afternoon if you want to avoid the queues.
And that's it from me for today, but expect to find me back again soon with another delicious place to try.
