Getting the home turned out to be easier than she expected. Turns out having Raken's blessing went a long way. With the dawn she was presented with a key to her new house. With only herself there it couldn't be a home, but it was a nice house. Between generosity of the craftspae and kindness from the jobs she helped with, there was a little in the house. No cookware but spare ingredients donated from the dinning hall, more than enough for a few days of good eating. There was even a set of chairs and bed. Currently missing a shelf, the angel had to make do using one of the chairs to hold the books she had borrowed.

Of the collection of books was one and only book on alpaca. The librarian seemed surprised or confused when she asked for the book but it was worth it. That book felt like a tangible connection to her father. Just seeing the picture of the alpaca made her smile, there was no wonder her daddy liked them so much.

An alpaca fiber blanket made in the very ranch her dad ran was donated, another thing making her feel closer to the father she missed dearly. It wasn't enough to stave off the terrible loneliness that set in after the helpers departed.

Once her door was closed and things settled, it hit her so hard she was off her feet, she was alone. Holding a few books, she slid down the wall until she was on the floor. Hugging her knees to her chest, she wrapped herself in the blanket. There were a few books beside her, so she reached for one to try and read. The total lack of noise in the house was deafening and visceral.

It would be okay, it had to be.

Raken kept an eye on the house next to him as he attended to his usual daily tasks. He had made a promise, and he was one to keep his word. He'd seen her already walking in and around the place, sprucing things up, checking the area out. But when her door closed and didn't open again, he figured it was about time to head over.

So he grabbed his two gifts to place in a basket and stepped out of his home, softly closing the door behind him. Just a quick visit, saying hello and dropping off the things, then he'd return to sweeping his floors. She surely had a lot of things to attend to, and didn't need him hovering around distracting her.

Basket in hand, he reached up to knock on the door. And promptly braced himself for the hug he was sure was coming.

Before Raken would have the time to retract his hand from knocking the door flew open. Menolly went full force into a hug. There was no pause to even look at who knocked, just an instant hug. Around her the alpaca fiber blanket fell from her shoulders to land on the floor. This slightly obscured the book she had been reading beside the door.

"I am so happy to see you!" Not that one could call it seeing as she had not even paused long enough to identify who was there. Once she opened her golden eyes and cast them up, she produced a brilliant smile thrilled to see Raken

Knock-WHOOSH! The door flung open and suddenly an angel was in his arms, clinging to him like moss on a rock. "Mmmph! H-hey. Were you waiting for me?" His free arm had come up to support her as the other still had the basket. Was she staring out the window and saw him? Or would she have tackle hugged any random pae?

He wasn't exactly sure which was more likely. Both seemed plausible. "I trust your move was easy?" As she pulled back to smile at him, the demon blinked. He didn't think anyone had ever been so happy to see him, including his daughter after returning from sea for three years.

Her answer came quickly, spoken as much against him as too him, "I was looking forward to your visit!" Any visitor would be welcome but now that she knew it was him, that went double. He had said he would visit so seeing him was a relief. It would be okay as long as he visited, surely.

His next question took her back to earth and she reluctantly pulled away. The slow break to the hug occurred at the same time, "Yes, please, come in!" Quickly she gathered the blanket and moved out of his way to let him into her home. The house didn't have much but it was home.

Trying in vain to secure a loose strand of hair behind her ear, Menolly added with gratitude, " There were many generous pae to help. I had furniture and ingredients donated!" It was amazing how kind every pae had been to help her in the move. Guardians be praised at how amazing Their children were!

That wasn't exactly an answer to his question. An eye narrowed suspiciously before he let the matter go. She was inviting him in, and it would be rude of him to turn her down. "Just for a moment. I wouldn't want to impose on you getting settled."

He stepped in after her, instantly noting her rather lonely bookshelf. He'd have to help with that. In fact... "That's very kind of them. My present isn't as lavish as a chair, but I hope you'll appreciate it all the same." With that he held up his little basket. Out from the top of it a fuzzy head poked, though it was quite obviously stuffed. A stuffed rabbit, bought from the market after trading a small fur. And underneath of it a book.

A book on photosynthesis.

"Very similar layout to my place. I guess these places are cookie-cutter." Not to say that was a bad thing. It served its purpose, and could always customize the inside to your own tastes.

Smiling warmly to Raken, she bent over to pick up her blanket and book. As she stood she mentioned, "I am settled in, you aren't imposing at all!" Not one bit, he could stay for as long as he wanted to and she'd be perfectly content.

At the mention of gifts she started to say one thing, "You just being here is.." but she cut herself off with a little gasp. Her eyes had fully fallen on the rabbit and it was instant love. With an exaggerated low pitch 'e' sound she reached in and pulled out the stuffed rabbit. Hugging the creature, she twisted in place fully overjoyed at the gift. "It is so cute!" Bouncing on the balls of her feet, the angel just didn't seem to know what to do with herself.

Finally calming down just enough, she saw the book as well. "Photosynthesis!" She said the name with confidence knowing exactly what the book was and what it was about. He remembered the conversation they had yesterday when they first met! "Oh thank you! I love them both so much. I don't know how to tha--" Wait a minute, yes she did, she knew how to thank him!

With the rabbit held tight in one arm, the books held close in the other and the blanket draped in front of her she couldn't hug him. That was very vexing for the girl but she had another idea. Standing to the side without the basket, she tried to raise up on the balls of her feet and kiss his cheek as a thank you. The blanket currently kept them apart and her arms tied up but there was at least that. "Thank you!" He really was the best.

Another idea struck and she offered, "I can make you dinner as thank you as well!" Looking towards the kitchen her voice got lower as she added, "I don't have anything to cook with at the moment" There might have been something else but she trailed of before finishing as positively as she could, "I'll figure something out!" At the moment the best bet was to see if he'd let her cook in his kitchen, it was as practical to bring the food ingredients to his house as it was to borrow his ware and bring it to hers.

He had the feeling that he could stay forever and she'd be alright with that.

Her reaction was about what he expected at finding the presents, but he smiled all the same. Something silly and fun and something educational. Life was all about balance. He was half expecting her to drop everything and tackle him again - he braced for it. But rather than throwing herself at him, she delicately stood on her tip toes. He tilted his head to start to look at her right before her lips found his cheek. Warmth shot up him from his toes to his cheeks, steel blue eyes widening.

This was Kurts daughter. This was Kurts daughter.

This was Kurts DAUGHTER.

He cleared his throat while subtly taking a step back. It was just a cheek kiss, that was fine. But they certainly can get absolutely no closer. "That's very thoughtful of you...would you like to cook in my kitchen again, or would you like me to bring things here?" Perhaps a better gift would've been cooking utensils...

A bundle of joy and happiness, Menolly was very thrilled with the little act of kissing his cheek. It was meant as a friendly gesture and the only form of affection she could muster with hands full of precious things. Then he took a step away and she settled right down from her toes to feet fully on the ground. There was an all over look of deflating.

Maybe it was just her imagination and she wasn't wrong? That had to be it.

Pressing past as she could, Menolly suggested, "I might be easier to take it over to your house. I'll help clean up afterword!" That wasn't and excuse to spend longer over there, not at all. It was only polite to respond to his kindness with showing good manners.

Already she had a dish in mind and the items for it. Hopefully he'd like it would like to share a meal again?

It was impossible to miss the instant deflation. Like he kicked puppies for fun or stole candy from babies. Upsetting Kurts daughter was additionally not alright.

He was in quite the conundrum. There was no way he was escaping his involvement with Menolly without incurring his friends wrath. "Alright, we'll head out in a moment. Perhaps after you put away your things, and give me a tour?" Wait a minute...back to his house. He just got her out of his house last night and she was somehow already back into it? Why did he have a strange feeling that this wasn't a one time thing.

Oh a tour! How rude of her not to show him around! Cheeks flushing a little she looked around not sure where to start. Her hands were too full to guide properly so that had to be dealt with first. Explaining just to explain, she told him, "The blanket is alpaca! Raised on a ranch somewhere on the isle!" That made it precious to her as well, it didn't hurt that the blanket was very soft. It would go with the bunny on her bed but did she start there and end in the kitchen?

This was quite the struggle for the young angel. Finally after looking around for a good three minutes or so, she place the blanket on to one of the only two chairs in the room. From there she put the book he gave her on the high shelf, the borrowed books sitting separate so she never forgot. Taking the time to get back to the blanket and pick it as well as the bunny up, she started the official tour. "This is the living room with two very nice chairs!" They were nice chairs, one more then she'd need on her own but with a visitor it was perfect. "There is the fireplace, I haven't tried to use it yet." There was no way that could go wrong, she was certain it was as easy as it looked.

Walking past Raken she managed to no brush against him as she continued, "This is the kitchen!" While it was missing anything to cook with, there was food ingredient out or in appropriate storage. Working so long in the kitchens lead to generosity she couldn't possible manage on her own.

Turning again she started down the short hall way motioning to one door to her left, "This is the washroom." The healing house had extras to allow some luxury in that area of the home.

Without thinking anything of it, she pushed open the door to her bedroom, a room quite literally with just a bed in it. The sole piece of furniture fit the room and was more then enough room for the small angel. Neatly made, Menolly went right to work placing the bunny very carefully at the head of the bed and tossing the blanket over like a throw to cover her bed. The room was warm and inviting, pieces like the bunny and blanket enough to make her smile.

While that was about all there was to see, she was not sure how to end the tour without it sounding funny in her head so a pause hung over as she finished tugging at the blanket again.

Alpaca blanket? He smiled lightly at the thought of her trying to be close with her father. Dyas probably missed him just as much.

Then he just chose to watch her struggle with what to do with herself. Obviously a bit overwhelmed with her gifts and items. It was a bit amusing watching the wheels in her head turn. "The chairs look very adequate." He spoke while trying to hide his mirth, not wanting to embarrass her.

"And you have quite a lot of food stuffs." How did she already have so much food? Perhaps he'd bother her for a bunch of carrots sometime...

The demon started walking after her to peer into the washroom. It was the same as his, but filled with much more than him. Like towels and intricate soaps. Who was giving her all this stuff?

On to the bedroom, which was a bit of a let down after the kitchen and washroom. He was expecting a book shelf and scarves on the window or a rug. But just a bed. The stuffed animal and the blanket however quickly livened up the room. "The place looks nice. I'm sure you'll be settled in comfortably in a few weeks." He spoke in the pause as she tugged at the blanket. "You'll need to get another chair though. For when your dad visits, I could come over and talk with both of you."

Silly Raken. Assuming that she'll be living here when Kurts finally found.

They were very nice chairs, she would agree with him. Though that didn't get commented on, he did received one on the food. A little embarrassed she answered," I worked a lot helping in the dinning hall so they were extra kind." It really was to much for her but how could she say no? It still wasn't clear what she was going to do with all that food, particularly without cookware.

Maybe he'd let her borrow his kitchen for a while?

"I hope so.." Could she really settle in this place all by herself? She really doubted that but couldn't tell him that. Even if she fiddled with her fingers and pulled her wings in tightly. That could be explained by space. He added something that had her head perking up, "Do you think Daddy will come and visit?" She hadn't seen him in so very long, did he even come to the City? If he had his ranch maybe he was really busy? "I sent a letter to the Ranch, the traders knew of it as soon as I said alpaca, but they said other names.." The smiles made her wonder if there was more to it, was it really the only alpaca ranch on the island?

That and the fact that her dad's name was only mentioned in the ranch itself, maybe he didn't deal with traders? It was hard to say but she missed him dearly.

He is going to look back on this and wonder why he ever thought that would work blaugh

Seemed there was some perks for working in the dining hall. Perhaps if he worked a shift they'd repay him in food. Some might think from what he had done in the past, such work would be demeaning. But to him there was nothing demeaning about good, hard labor.

As he looked around the bedroom, his eyes finally settled upon Menolly. Looking small and delicate. "Of course. He might be busy of late, but when things slow down I'm confident he'll make time to see you." With how protective he was of Sunny, there was no doubt that his daughters were very important to him. Being busy and having to focus on duty was the logical reason why he hadn't come to see her yet. "Is there anything else you'd like to show me, or should we be on our way?"

There was hardly a time she wasn't throwing herself into something or another. Being around others and helping was the spot of her greatest joys in life. That and the quite moments of cuddling from a distant past. Curious she asked, "Busy? With the ranch?" That would make sense, really she should just go and visit him. That was just a long trek on her own, and Raken already mentioned it was dangerous for him to go down there himself. Really she missed her daddy more than anything, surely he'd miss her too.

Did she have anything else? Looking around her room again, last real room and the house, she could find anything that was worth showing him. Having not been settled in long at all, there wasn't anything she'd done herself to warrant it. Well, yet. There was plenty of ideas to make the food last.

So without anything that came to mind she shook her head and said brightly, "Nope, a quick trip to the kitchen and I will be ready to go! May I use the basket you bright to bring the food over?" She had something special in mind and would need a lot of things to put it together. Maybe if he liked her cooking enough he'd want her over more often?
