Harley knew her bother well enough to know that something was wrong. He had responded to her messages in a worrisome way, which left her no choice but to try and stalk him when she had free time during the day. Unfortunately, the first day she tried she had a few very long shifts at work, so instead, in the morning of the next day, she tried to visit him.
Her texts were ignored. Nobody answered his door. He should have been awake by now, surely. Even if it was a day off, which she doubted. She frowned at the door, and after pacing in front of it, finally decided to just take a seat beside it.
She could play the waiting game. He couldn't avoid her forever.
Or for longer than two days, really.

He yawned as he walked down the hallway, rolling his neck to get the kinks out. Despite everything, he'd slept relatively well - or as well as he could in a room with regular curtains. It helped that the window was far from the bed. ...it also helped that he'd worn himself out. The guilt and shame and deluge of confusion was lurking in the back of his mind already, waiting to pour out at a moment''s notice. But it had been so nice to pretend. Too nice and then, next week, too! He felt his expression settle into something closer to miserable than contented. Horace rubbed a hand across his face as he rounded the corner. When his hand fell, he was surprised by a wild head of red hair. What was Hattie doing here? "Ah... Hi, Hattiecat. What brings you to my humble door?" He was acutely aware of his rumpled appearance, courtesy of yesterday's clothing.

Luckily for Horace, she hadn't seen him yesterday and thus couldn't razzle him on his attire. She did, however, stare at him for a few beating seconds, noting the rumple of his clothing…and of course, the fact that he seemed to be coming home at this early hour.
"Oh, you know, world domination. The one room at a time sort." Casual was the way to go. Her hand slid back, knuckled rapping lightly against his door, or at least what she could reach over her shoulder. "I noticed this one was empty, so I was gonna stake it out to claim it as my own." Grinning, she shifted her weight and pushed onto her feet, clapping her hands against her legs and clothing to pat away any dust, real or imagined.
"But here you are! Wanna fight for it? Because I can bring it."

One brow rose. "Don't you have your own room, missy?" He instantly wanted to swallow that last word, the expression on his face flickering to dismay for just a second. "Hattiecat, can I jsut sleep for it? I'm tirrrreeddd." His voice turned to a plaintive whine and he sagged dramatically against the wall, knocking into her deliberately.

"I have joint-custody of a room." Hattie corrected him happily, though she looked a little bewildered at his reaction to the unusual little nickname. Like his, it was passing, and she was more than happy to pretend it never happened.
"You didn't get any sleep last night?" She probed, after an equally plaintive whine over being knocked against. Not that she didn't retaliate; no, she dug her elbow into his side, grinding it against him.

"Uh," and he had the good grace to look incredibly sheepish. "No, not really. I was busy." Horace rubbed his side with a plaintive expression on his face. "This how you treat your brother?"

"Yup!" Harley said proudly, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
"Alright Smutbot! I'll let you use my new room." She said graciously, reaching out to try the door knob. When it turned easily, she seemed a little surprised at first, but then pushed the door open. "So you can sleep off that walk of shame." She added happily, elbowing him again playfully. Eyebrows wiggled as she waved him into his own room.

"You better let me use my room. I can muscle you out, you know." He groaned dramatically as she said 'walk of shame'. "Too blunt, Hattie, oh my god." He started to move into his room and paused. "Wait, don't I owe you a snowball fight?"

"Bring it on, Smutbot~" She continued to beam at him, doing her best to look as unassuming and innocent as possible. Likely, she was failing. Well, she had probably long since failed, especially with her oh-so-charming response.
"You do. But you also just admitted to not sleeping, and I don't find victory in easy wins, so." Harley left it as that, and gave him a playful shove into his own room. "In you go! First, we nap. Then, I destroy you with snow."

"How about you turn off your innocent act and help wake me in an hour, you brat." He wrinkled his nose at her playfully, a little grateful she wasn't pushing nosily into the who of his walk of shame. Horace grabbed her hand and proceeded to drag her to the bed. He knew she'd just crawl in with him anyway - and sleeping with Hattie in the bed wasn't awful. In fact, the extra body heat was nice.

"Act?" Harley parroted innocently, her mouth closing in a small 'o' of shock at the accusation. His hand closed around hers and she found herself dragged to his bed, where she only happily crawled in after him. True to his suspicions, she would have joined him anyway, and was just happy that he had started it without her having to fight any more for it.
She dutifully cuddled up against him, nuzzling her head onto his shoulder, and with her free hand she pulled her phone from her back pocket to set an alarm. "An hour, yeah? Sure you don't need more than that?"

"It'll have to do," he said, his grim look ruined by a tremendous yawn that cracked his jaw. Within half a minute, he was asleep.
