Torie pondered the question for a few minutes as she stared at the paper. Why? Why was such a difficult question to answer because there were so many variations of it. But, she had to get something down so she could get to her scheduled nap time.

Sociology is the study of social behavior and society. As we study it, it allows us to get a better understanding of social order, disorder, and change. It also covers a wide range of topics such as sexuality, linguistics and others. So through sociology, we learn more about ourselves and the interactions between others. Thought this learning, we can put forth the needed changes in our society to better it.

With that, she took the paper and placed it onto the teacher's desk.

User ImageThe first thing Warren noticed upon entering his Sociology class was the white-erase board that had - he could only surmise - the assignment for the day. With a put-upon sigh he dug out his reading glasses and settled them onto his face. Next was paper and pen while he contemplated Nature versus Nurture.

[A behaviourism is considered natural to that species if it is endemic to the species as a whole and is one that can be seen and noted over many multiple generations. Otherwise it should be considered an anomaly and/or a possibly mutated behavior that could become species-wide and thus eventually 'natural' to said species.

A taught behaviour is one that may or may not be useful to the species as a whole (such as avians learning where bird feeders will be and not migrating when their nature says they should). These are things that are not ingrained to the creature in an organic way, but that affect said creature's effectiveness with survival and genetic longevity (via breeding); they may be passed to offspring not through racial memory, but visually or orally.

I believe that is not possible to pick these things apart after a certain point - unless one has been able to observe the creature from before said behaviour was introduced.

In the end, a 'natural' behaviour is only natural because it was learned so long ago that there are none able to show that it was in fact learned, from migration patterns to breeding practices.]

Warren finished his paper and got up to turn it in before heading out; he'd hear back in a few days as to whether or not he'd passed...until then, he wasn't going to sweat it overly much.
