Today was the first day of community college classes and Matty was all sorts of excited to be getting his classes underway! Of course it meant a little more time restraints between school, work, and home, but he'd make it work!
Matty was excited, so he raised his hand to answer! Now normally he would have made a joke over the question in his answer, but he was actually so nervous about screwing up, that he took it pretty seriously. Well, for the most part. "Appetizers are something to help get your taste buds to wake up and ready for what's to come. You don't want anything heavy or something that smacks you in the face with a million flavors. A good appetizer is simple, tasty, small, and leaves you wanting more." Though he was actually pretty pleased with his answer, the looks he got made him wonder if he was supposed to answer aloud or not...

As one of his fellow students jumped the gun like a freshling in academy, Dodger couldn't help smirking about it. It was actually lucky for him, because if that guy hadn't done that, chances were he would have! Maybe the two of them could do class work together. He seemed the kind of guy that Dodger would like hanging out with.
Like the rest of the class, the grimm took to putting his answer on paper, still snickering to himself some as he did so.
'The point of an appetizer, is to wake your mouth up and get it ready for the party to come! It also helps you know how good the chef is. A good appetizer doesn't sink to the bottom of your stomach like a rock and take up all your main course room. It's light and good tasting. Like that other guy said, a good one makes you want more.'

As the assignment was give out to them, Matty looked at the teacher with wide eyes. He was in true disbelief that there was people who couldn't eat stuff like that! He was an endless pit that would eat anything and everything! Apparently he had a lot to learn still for cooking outside family. He thought long and hard as he tried to come up with something delish that someone who couldn't eat wheat could have for breakfast.
Finally he settled on something! Raising his hand, then standing, Matty grinned as he started. "For someone with a wheat allergy, I would make them an egg muffin of yum. Eggs, crispy bacon bits, broccoli, and cheese melted on top cooked in a muffin tin. Maybe toss on some sour cream and chives to give it a kick up of extra yum! Protein packed breakfast with all the yum and none of the gluten!"

Dodger gave a small pout at the thought of not being able to, or making the choice not to eat some of these foods. Poor things. He decided to try and come up with something for someone who would choose not to eat meat. Not that he would ever do that. Meat was life!, but this class was about cooking for others!
After a while, he came up with something that sounded like a non-meat meal that even he wouldn't mind eating. Taking his turn to stand and present it to the classroom, he started. "I picked a vegetarian breakfast. anyone who can willingly not eat meat is brave in my book! Anyways, I would make them an avocado toast stack. Start off with sauteeing fresh veggies. Peppers, onions, and maybe something unexpected like asparagus! I'd toast up a fresh piece of whole grain bread, then carve up an avocado and smoosh it up with a bit of salt and pepper, spreading it over the freshly toasted bread. I'd then add the sauteed veggies on top and then maybe put a slice of tomato on top with a dash of salt and pepper." After finishing up, he thought that he'd pick up Kismet after school and they could swing by the store to get the stuff to make this. It was actually sounding pretty good right now.
