Personality: Bold, creative, and adventurous is some of the words that best describes Esther. Esther was always seeking out the path less followed and argued when her mother worried about the times she would climb in trees or run too far from her mother's sight that she would be fine as God was always watching her as was her guardian angel. Sure of herself, as much as she is sure of her father's teachings of the gospel, Esther isn't one to doubt herself or the world around her. She is sure that ever branch she climbs on will hold her and every animal she pets is harmless even if that hasn't always been the case. Esther enjoys memorizing bible verses and has always been fond of making games of make-believe where she will dress up and convince her sister Lydia and sometimes her brothers to reenact Bible stories.

Background Information: Esther was blessed to be born into a large family. Her father is a man of God, and is the preacher of one of the local churches in the village of Haverhill where she she has spent most of her life (except when she was seven and they went to South Africa for a mission trip). She has two older brothers, Jonas and Gabriel, and a younger sister Lydia. Esther's life has been quite ordinary, beyond her extraordinarily good luck in life. Having been an energetic and somewhat curious child she was always climbing trees, running too fast, and there was even a time when she was found playing with a snake in the yard when they were in South Africa. Yet despite the times she has fallen out of a tree, tripped and fell, or even when she was bit by the snake she has rarely had an injury worth noting and usually healed quickly. Her mother and father says it is because she is blessed with a guardian angel and Esther has seen no reason to see otherwise at this time.
Esther's neat life and beliefs were changed early in the summer she had just turned eleven. A man came to inform her she was a witch and not the type of witch that were devil worshipers and bad people. No, there were people born with 'gifts' that was known as magic. Obviously her father and mother were very concerned by this knowledge. Her father fully intended to ban any daughter of his to be called a witch or go to some far away school full of heathens. Excited by the prospect of magic, Esther was heartbroken at her father's reaction. Maybe he was right and these people were bad. Witches were bad right? Yet, the man who came a governor from the school made it sound so wonderful and stressed that untrained witches and wizards could end up hurting someone on accident if they didn't get trained.
After a couple weeks Esther was finally able to convince her father to let her go to Hogwarts and even agree to take her to London to buy her school supplies. She promised she'd do her bible studies every day and send it to him every week and pointed out that it would be just like when they went to Africa to spread the Gospel to people who had never heard the Word of God. Yet, though she promises to be a good Christian, she also wants to be a good witch and is excited, though nervous, about the adventure ahead of her. After all, she has never been away from her family before.
First Year: Essie truly enjoyed her time at Hogwarts. While she didn't find any converts for God (yet), she did make a friend or two despite a mild argument in History of Magic where she found out that Darian Yaxley thought Essie was a bit silly for her belief in God. Essie did become close friends with a boy named Richard Devereux and found she didn't make any enemies despite occasionally being made fun of by other students for her "old fashioned" clothes and long skirts and her babbling about God's greatness.
