It was a cool March day. The promise of spring could be felt in the air, but winter's clutch over the city was still evident thanks to the coldness of the wind. Thankfully, the sun was out though, and the warm rays were perfect for basking and warming tiny furry bodies. Especially when one perched himself on the hood of a black car that had been parked all morning along the side of the road.

Along with warming himself up, the hood of the car made a lovely spot to people watch and, when not half drowsy from the warm sun, Magnus enjoyed studying the numerous amounts of people that ambled past his car. Sure, a few stopped to look at him and he'd stare back and meow amiably, but for the most part he went completely ignored. He didn't mind the lack of attention though as he was fully enjoying the lazy day. In fact, he was beginning to drowse off again, paws buried under him and tail wrapped around his hind legs, when he felt something.

Blue eyes snapped open and immediately began scanning the people around him. Several walked past him, one woman with a child paused to look in a store front before entering the red-bricked building. A man in a suit hurried past, certainly in a rush for something, but it was the girl who had her nose stuffed in a book that caught the feline's attention.

As she walked nearer, Magnus stood up, and padded to the edge of the hood and meowed purposefully at her. If he could just draw her attention and then maybe lead her away from the hustle and bustle of the street...

She walked right by. Well, that certainly didn't work out.

Hopping off the car he took pursuit, meowing every once in awhile in hopes of drawing her attention but nothing seemed to work. She's really absorbed into whatever it is she'd reading.

Deciding to take drastic measures, he waited until they were in a slightly less populated area before dashing forward and weaving amongst her legs. His intention was just to make her stop and look down at him, not fall to the ground. He winced slightly when she met the pavement. Hopefully she hadn't hurt herself, but he didn't pause long.

With purpose he hopped up onto her lap before jumping onto her shoulders. Even though there weren't many people around now, he still didn't want to chance that someone might over heard him. So, he positioned himself near her ear. "If you could do me a favor and find somewhere a bit less crowded that would be appreciated."

"Yes and....no. You didn't hit your head." The grey feline couldn't help a chuckle. "This isn't a dream, quest or anything of the sort." Magnus continued to practically whisper in her ear, especially when two boys walked by close enough to possibly overhear them.

Her watched as the boys, probably no older than 10, stopped to gape at him on the girl's shoulder. Magnus offered the two boys a meow before burying his face in the girl's hair by her ear. "Just, follow me?"

With that he hopped down off her shoulder. He paused a moment to glance over his shoulder at her before padding down the sidewalk and darting into an alleyway that would at least keep the two of them out of earshot of anyone. The last thing the Guardian wanted was to pull attention to the girl before he even had a chance to explain what was going on.

He found himself a garbage can, and with one easy leap perched on top of it. He barely made a sound on the metal can, taking care to not topple to lid off, but thankfully it was well secured. She he sat there expectantly for the girl to round the corner. Optimistic that she would be curious enough to follow.

Magnus chuckled. "Direct and to the point. I like it." With his tail curled around his legs the tip gently and slowly moved up and down. Magnus was obviously quite relaxed about the whole scene playing out in the alleyway.

"First off, I am not attacking you. If I were, you'd be sporting claw marks instead of just some stray fur there on your shoulder." And sure enough, he could spot a few long grey strands of hair that had managed to lodge themselves on her clothes despite the short amount of time he had used the girl as a perch.

"Now as to how I can talk...well, I am not precisely your every day feline. You could say I am special in a way. Which brings me to you." And this was where Magnus hoped he'd be able to explain himself right. The last thing he wanted to do was alarm the girl or confuse it but just make her understand he was being completely serious about what he was saying. "You, my dear, are special as well." He touched his own chest as an indication to her own. "You are a special soul that is destined to stand up and aid in a very important fight. A quest of a sort." He referred back to the girls comment about quests. Though it wasn't necessarily the right terminology for what being a senshi was, it wasn't so terribly off either. More like a never ending job or duty, but hey, he wasn't going to be picky about phrasing here.

"I am Magnus by the way." He tipped his head in a greeting. "And you are?"

The tip of Magnus's tail flicked ever so slightly at the girls sass. She has spunk. That's for sure. He mused to himself. It would be a useful trait to come for the soon-to-be senshi. Assuming, of course, that it didn't land her in a whole heap of trouble down the road but Magnus had high hopes.

"Alright, Ciaran. I am not really sure what you're talking about but yes, you're special. How about we jump straight to the point and then I'll explain, hm?" He figured at that point Ciaran may be more willing to listen quietly. Not that he blamed her. It wasn't everyday that a talking cat walked up to you and demanded your attention the way he had. She will need to get use to him He chuckled to himself quietly.

From what seemed like out of no where, the feline produced a small pen which he pushed with a paw towards the girl. "Take this and say 'Nereid Power, Make-up! "

The transformation was fluid and quick. Soon enough Ciaran was replaced by Sailor Nereid. The vivid blue and white of her fuku and the waterfall sleeves made for quite a showy appearance and had the grey feline sitting smugly. "Take a good look at yourself." He commented.

"You're now Sailor Nereid, the Senshi of Waterfalls." He elaborated as the young girl took in her new appearance. "I'll try to explain everything to you in detail. Forgive me if I miss anything since you -are- my first senshi to awaken." Lifting a paw to his mouth he cleared his threat before sitting nicely again.

"You're one of the soldiers who fight against the chaos of the Negaverse. Their intentions are to take control of Earth and you with the other senshi and the Knights who also aid in the fight, need to keep that from happening. They are the ones behind some of the attacks you hear about on the news. Not all of them of course, but many of them."

Magnus decided to pause there as he let the girl absorb the general information thrown at her. He had no doubt she had questions forming at rapid fire in her mind with how outspoken she seemed to be.

Well...that certainly wasn't the response he had been expecting. He had thought she'd have some sort of excitement about the whole thing but now she looked downright ill at the prospect. Welp, he couldn't have that now.

So, with practiced grace, Magnus hopped down from the garbage can he had perched himself on and put his paws on Nereid's knees as he looked up at her. "Relax. No one is expecting you to be a superb fighter. At least not right off the bat. There are a lot of other senshi out there and I know some of them would be more than happy to help you learn how to fight. I'd uh...help you myself but I am unfortunately not well equipped for fighting." He smiled at her. "Plus you have magic at your disposal that will help you out."

"And yes, waterfalls just as you described. It's a pretty powerful force if you think about it. Now just relax and take a deep breath. I can't have you passing out on me." He joked, though truthfully, he was a bit worried the girl may do just that.

"I've got something else here for you." He said before pushing away from her knees for a moment to reveal a flip phone which he nudged up along side of her. "That is your senshi phone. There's all sorts of information loaded up in there for you. You can use that phone to get in touch with others or send out an SOS if needed."

Magnus had no clue what the girl was rambling on about. Tanks? Glass Canon? Black Mage? Whatever it was it certainly seemed to perk the girl back up though and the Guardian was pleased with that outcome. The last thing he wanted was for the girl to completely freeze up on him and if these....references helped her, all the better.

"You'll need all of that energy I am sure." He grinned.

As she peered at the flip phone tilted his head at her question. "I can truthfully say I have no idea. Maybe if you play around with it you'll find games, but really, you should be more focused on what the information in that phone can teach you. It'll go into so much more depth than I can right now and the more you know the better off you'll be when out on patrol."

"But since I am here right now, what sorts of questions do you have?"
