[GRAND OPENING] Powers Concept Contest

So you want to know how to get your hands on the cuties seen above? The rules here are simple: submit a magic progression. When the contest closes, staff will evaluate the entries and decide winners based on which concept we like the best!

You can enter for each dreamer once, so make it count! We want to see your plans for both DREAMER and RISER magic. You can read more about what those entail here! If you win one of these dreamers, you will be expected to play them with the first-stage magic you won with.

Please be sure to specify which dreamer you are entering for - GLOBES (the standing character) or MAPS (the seated one)*.

INNER COMPASS

Ever since she was young, Globes never really got lost. Now thanks to her powers, she has a pretty good natural sense of direction and can adapt easily to getting around new places because somehow the world almost seems to lead her to where she needs to go- through alleyways or open doors, all of which seem to only exist when she needs them. She can make quick escapes down unfinished streets that no one else can seem to find on their own, take shortcuts to places she needs to be that should be impossible, and make secret hideouts in even the busiest cities where they are miraculously never disturbed. Maybe because no one else can find them without her help?

STAR MAPPING

Long ago, humanity relied on the stars to lead them to their goals, using them to navigate towards a desired land or treasure. When she puts her mind to it, Globes can find anything and anyone that she's looking for. She just knows. She possesses an instinctual inner pull that can tell her precisely where she needs to be to find what she needs. It can be something as simple as knowing what store still has a copy of the newest book from her favorite sci-fi author (and where she might be to get her autograph), or as serious as finding a missing person. Getting to where she needs to be is another problem entirely. She could even determine which nearest solar system harbors life. Finding it is easy, proving it exists to others is another matter altogether, but she's determined to do that too.

They've never needed to use a bookmark, because their books always manage to crack open right where they needed it to be, be it where they left off in their novel or just the right article in a thesaurus! As an avid reader, the power comes in handy when they absolutely forget where it was and they're in a hurry to finish their story, or finish their research. No need to waste time searching.

EASY ALL NIGHTER

They have the uncanny ability to pull an all nighter and not feel tired after! Probably because they don't really need to sleep all that much? While they eventually will succumb to the call of their bed from the emotional and mental exhaustion, they don't need all that much sleep to be a totally functional human being! Though, they still like sleeping.

CAPTIAL QUEEN

Go ahead and point to a place on a map: country, state, you name it. Maps seems to know what it is. While she might not know what a city is like, she will always know it's name. This comes in handy on those pesky geography tests, but not much else.

CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE?

For some strange reason Maps can understand what cats are saying and talk with them. She doesn't know how or why she got this power, but it's nice to be able to talk to her pet cat. What she's saying, of course, doesn't translate over to other humans who are listening. To them, it sounds like she's just purring or meowing a bunch. Such behavior has garnered her a plethora of stares, but let them look. At least she knows why your cat always leaves a present for you in your shoes.

[A Wandering Esper]

SPACIAL AWARENESS

With someone so easily lost in their own thoughts, you'd expect a lot of accidents to happen. And yet... they don't. No matter how unaware of her surroundings she is at the time, globes has never had any lasting harm come to her. It's like she got a radar telling her that this tree is up ahead, and she never fails to move out of it's way at the last moment. She doesn't run into walls, into other people... She always seems to manage to move out at the last possible moment and avoid the incoming catastrophe.

TO SLEEP, PERCHANCE TO DREAM

Globes always remembers her dreams - or nightmares - with surprising clarity, without needing to note them down. Her dreams are basically video clips she can replay at will, and sometimes they offer very small glimpses of the future - that so called deja vu. These flashes are never whole events, just small bits of familiarly that she can recall having dreamt about before.

No, it's not a mid-90's boy band. Maps never has an issue getting from one place to the next. Pedestrian signals always seem to go from red-hand to blue-man as soon as she approaches. Crowds seem to thin out as she's walking through them. Grocery lines are never long. Anything that might delay someone else never seems to affect Maps.

FINDERS FEE

Maps can find anyone or anything as long as she's made physical contact with the subject of her search - but there are limitations. She cannot find things that have been altered or incorporated into something else. For example, she can find a missing spool of yarn, but once it's been knit into a sweater she can no longer find it.

NOT FOUND

Sometimes, people just don't notice MAPS. She never gets called on to answer a question in class that she doesn't know, or picked for a job she doesn't want to do. From an outside perspective, MAPS is bland, pleasant, and completely unremarkable.

LOST

MAPS vanishes completely, becoming invisible to regular eyes, second sights, and technology. She can still be felt, of course, and people with enhanced hearing or smell may be able to pinpoint where she is. Ultimately though, locating MAPS is not an easy task.

A POUND OF FEATHERS

It's very easy for GLOBES to stand small objects on their tips. She is the paperclip, pen, and coin balancing champion. The objects seem indiscernibly lighter, somehow, but with something that's a maximum of 2 grams in the first place, it's hard to tell.

FLOATING WORLD

Her personal gravity becomes similar to that of a small air balloon. GLOBES can't fly, but she falls very slowly.
