Kristen did not really drink at her own parties.
She had to take care of her house and make sure nobody else was getting too randy, it was the only downside to playing hostess. However, that did not mean she did not enjoy herself - she was in her element, this was her scene. She valued this time, where she could forget about all the drama and all the bullshit and just be at peace and free.
It was like it always was at her house on a Saturday night, buzzing with people who were hanging around in various places - be it by the bonfire, pool, bar or dance floor. The lights danced, the music was blaring and people were getting down with the rhythm - holding glow sticks of pink, yellow and green. She loved nights like this, it was chilly, but the atmosphere kept you warm. She was surrounded by friends, even if they were distant ones that only vaguely knew her.
So when she went from dancing on the raised bar; to being picked up and placed on the floor by a certain fall boy, all she did was look over the crowd to make sure everyone was having a good time. Beads bounced and clattered against each other and she made her way onto the dance floor; leaving Christian behind to lose herself for a while.
She had always liked pop-punk; the tunes that were played on Karrang Radio by DJ Doom back when she was thirteen and going through that rebel phase that we no longer talked about. Luckily Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco had released new albums; so she could just get away with putting it on the playlist - Light em up.
------------------------------
Mahtab was the sort of fellow who liked to spend his time working on getting things right. In this case, making himself presentable for a party that was for mardi gras. This included a mask, body paint under his shirt, and the really fun sparkling black jeans he owned. He considered it festive enough.
What he was really there was to deliver the goods, and to maybe flirt. Kristen was cute, he liked cute, she was chill, and as he arrived to the venue? She was very clearly not one looking for a boy toy meal ticket. The music was good, and as he cruised the scene it became more and more obvious to him that this was a party and a girl who he really should have met sooner.
This was the exact type of party that was where he could ply his trade, have fun, and enjoy himself.
Spying the woman who’d bought his leafy greens in the first places Mehtab weaved in and out past other revelers until he was next to his client. “Hey.” He pulled the package from his coat, and it was notably wrapped in festive wrapping paper and ribbon.
“Merry Mardi Gras. I hope you don’t mind I wrapped it up.” He winked at her.
“And hope you did save a dance for me right?”
------------------------------
It took her a moment to wake out of her trance, but once she did she turned to look at the man who had approached her; one of her newest friends. "Aww, for little old me, how sweet! But you should have said, I don't have one for you!" She held her hands to her chest dramatically before taking the package from him; complete with a little bow on top. Well, wasn't this just like Christmas? No it was-
"Happy, Mardi Gras!"
She gave a small bow of her head before she closed the distance between them; it was loud and she did not want to be yelling and battling with it. "Well, I can't really say no after you went through all this effort." She smiled - gesturing to the package and his attire, his very glittery pants had not gone unnoticed. She rather liked them.
Discreetly she slipped the package down her shirt to conceal it in her bra. The only downside to being dressed up was the distinct lack of pockets; and you could not really dance with your hands full.
The redhead pulled a couple of necklaces from her neck and placed them carefully over his head, the beads catching the light as they came to rest on his chest, she pulled on them slightly and stood up taller to she would talk into his ear. "Come on then; show me what you've got."
It might have been a challenge; it sure sounded like one. Her hands reached for his as she slowly stepped back into the thick of the crowd; inviting him to take hold of them.
She was not the kind of girl to turn down an invitation to dance.

He liked the social atmosphere that Kristen's party had. Casual and fun and almost no rules. Plus he had his own light buzz going to that helped. "It's okay, the gift that keeps on giving is the gift of a good time." He motioned to the party which was loud and he anticipated would get louder as time went on. The beads that were strung around him had him looking back slightly shocked. He hadn't anticipated getting more decorated than he already was, and much less with necklaces. Her words in his ears also took him a while to process but once they did was was grinning. "Ohh?" he made it a question. "Is that some sort of challenge?" He hoped so- he hadn't had a good chance to try his dance moves in a while. Well, inside of his own place at least. Letting her lead him, Mehtab looped his arm in her own, avoiding taking her hand. He could see a few guys with their eyes on the host. Plus, getting involved with a 'client' was tricky. Usually. He wasn't about to give the wrong impression. Not yet anyway. "So, how you do it?" he asked, head tilting to the speakers. "You want to just let lose or do I gotta try to bust out some skills. Hint- I'm not that skilled."

That was very true, the gift that kept on giving was indeed a good time. Kristen was a dedicated worker and a newly awakened celestial guardian; thus, the only time she really had to let loose were the events she hosted.
The party was indeed going to get louder, people were going become more intoxicated and she had no doubt that at least one fight would break out in the name of teenage pride. Someone would look at a girl wrong or someone would take an offhand insult a little too personally. Though the events she hosted always seemed to descend into chaos towards the end of the night, it was a chaos she fed off. To her there was something special about nights like these; where large groups of people from different schools, classes and backgrounds came together in the name of fun. All daily stresses seemed to almost melt away.
Was it a challenge? She asked herself as she cocked an eyebrow. "Of course it is." She let out a small giggle as he linked his arm with hers - not thinking too much of it because, unlike Methab, she was unaware of the fact people were watching. She was used to eyes being on her and to a point she had learned to ignore it. Kristen was both extremely friendly as well as very openly affectionate towards people. She was the kind of person that liked to be close to people, both physically and emotionally, though they were limits to that as in all things.
Though rumours might suggest differently, Kristen had never gone passed second base with anyone - she was just not than interested, nor did she have the time to invest in a relationship. Her actions, even though quite forward, were not meant to indicate an interest. Alas, some took it that way. This fact was probably why Methab was getting a cold reception from some of the guests; especially the guy who had been the bridge between the two character for the past couple of months. The redhead was a popular girl, someone who was very sought after; be it as a friend or a romantic interest. Sometimes she used that to influence to manipulate people and more often than not, as that fact dawned on them, they became jealous and bitter. It was a game she played and had been playing for so long that a lot of it was unintentional at this point.
She was charismatic, confident and outgoing; people were drawn to her.
Still with their arms linked, Kristen reached out with her free hand and took a tin off a tray that a server was carrying; it was one of those cocktails in a can, vodka and lemonade - not exactly a hard drink, but as mentioned before, she tended not to drink whilst she was hosting. She opened the tab with her teeth and smiled as the fizz splashed against her lips.
She took a mouthful, and then offered it to him. "I will tell you a secret, neither am I - but this helps." She never took dance classes, and learned all her moves either in a mosh pit or on the dancefloor of some nightclub that her and her friends had bought their way into. She was no expert either and never claimed otherwise. The redhead shrugged and looked around at her guests, bodies moving in unison to the beat but all following a different tempo. You really could tell a lot about a person from how they danced, how they moved, body language spoke louder than words at times.
"You just loose yourself in it, y'know. Pretend that nobodies watching. Sing like nobody can hear you." She mused, she was no longer concerned with making a fool of herself, in many ways the less you cared the more people saw you as cool. It was like saying their judgement did not matter to you, even though in Kristen's case it really did. It was her ultimate double bluff. "To be honest; you surprised me. I did not think you would stick around, never mind make such an effort. Won't this blow your cover?" She smiled, slowly taking her arm from his and turning to face him once more. Nobody could hear them, she thought she might as well ask.

The music had him moving, and better, so did the light buzz he had going on. What made it great tho so far, was just how casual it all was. Kristen was chill, and her party was lively. Maybe if he asked nicely, he could take any leftover booze home. Free was always good to him. Just like a free drink of the cocktail in a can. One sip later he was chuckling. "You're moving a bit fast for me Kitten. I mean indirect kissing is a big step with friends." Pulling her to step in front of a floor light with him, he spun, pants glittering all the while. Dancing was smooth, not a bump and grind but not intimate. It was just moving to the beat as cliche as it was. "You surprised me. Girls like you don't often play with guys like me." He shrugged. "Won't blow my cover so long as I play it smart, thats all."

She wouldn't have a problem with him taking the remaining drinks home; if anything she would encourage it. The morning after sparked a huge clean up operation and all those who had stayed the night were required to lend a helping hand. She was allowed to use the house to feed her own indulgence as long as it was returned to its original state before her parents arrived back from New York on a Sunday night. If someone found some unopened drinks or food lying around they were more than welcome to take it - all she wanted was for all the evidence to disappear.
"Indirect kissing? Jesus Christ; guess you won't be doing body shots of the cheerleaders later?" She laughed at his reaction, finishing off or tasting another persons drink was common practise around here. She had never thought of it as indirect kissing, but she supposed he was right. "Sooo, where friends?" She picked up on his words and that left a lingering smile on her lips, it might have been a slip of his tongue, however she was interested about how he saw her and if she was just a business partner in his eyes. The redhead would prefer to know either way and understand where she stood.
Kristen joined him in his dancing, her hands above her shoulders as vibrant layered skirts twisted as she moved. The light caught glittery eye-shadow and combined with the metallic beads she lit up like a disco ball. His words did not stop her, but they slowed her down and cyan eyes wondered to look at Methab with curiosity. "That is a statement - I don't know what I am more curious about; how you see me, or how you see yourself?" She shrugged tilting her head to the side.

His laugh came out a snort as he danced along side her. "Kissing is a lot more intimate than licking skin. I mean." He winked. "Sex can be a fling, but a kiss can carry a lot more weight. Plus while you can do both in public, one gets you arrested, the other just looks of approval." The yell from a girl in the distance was the herald for the shift in music, the steady casual sound turning into a harder faster beat. The DJ was fast to give into requests from screaming women apparently. "But as for being friends?" He poked at her collar. "I don't make house calls and deliveries for just anyone you know. And for the record, the body shots are on the table. Provided its good alcohol." He shrugged and avoided the topic of how he saw her, instead dancing next to her and laughing at the sight of two drunk guys attempting to dance on a table.

Long, pale fingers ran through thick red strands of hair, she combed it out of her face but on doing so made it more voluminous. Her hair was a monster that was hard to tame.
Kristen could not help but laugh at his statement, a small flush appearing on her face. Well, this conversation got very intimate very quickly. "It sounds like you hold great value in a kiss, that is actually quite refreshing to hear. I mean, people seem to always want more, you know?" It was all or nothing, anything less and people thought you did not like them. At least, that is what people made it sound like. Her eyes drifted over to him and smiled. "I will keep that in mind the next time I offer you a drink." She returned his playful wink as the music changed.
She was not too sure; even though she knew that people indulged in flings she knew it would be hard for her to give that much of herself to a person without feeling an attachment. Maybe she was just too sensitive at heart; maybe she was more of a sentimental romantic than she let on. In truth, she did not think about it all too often. She had never craved intimacy from others and for the most part kept people at arms reach. She let them be around her but not close.
Cyan eyes drifted to the boys dancing on the table, but used the distraction as an excuse to slide closer to her guest. She placed a hand gently on his arm, jerking her head to the side in as an invitation to walk with her. "Come on; let's go and try out your product. I might even sneak out a bottle of something special from the office. Just don't tell anybody, okay?" She smilked, pressing her finger against her lips playfully.
If he had bent one of his rules, she could bend one of hers.

"I do!" He said, as if kissing was just that important a subject. He was jovial in his tone, moving to the music and when she got closer the smile went from casual to flirtatious. Pretty girls and fun parties could be leading to a fun time. Provided he didn't end up wanting to sleep. "Kissing conveys feelings, and means so much with a simple action. All the lascivious words in the world mean nothing if you can't kiss." His hand moved to her lower hip, enjoying their closeness as he moved, walking next to her. "You make it sound like a sell something seedy though. 'Product'. I recall I sold nothing. I just came because I was invited." He winked at her, knowing that sometimes people heard things and would pry. He was fine with his clients so far and he didn't want just anyone hitting him up. "I do like the sound of something special. I'm a sucker for flavor and taste." He stopped for a second then looked at her. "You going to be okay though? Not all.. grabby and handsy? I won't mind but-" He shrugged. "I prefer playing it safe."

"Haha, so you're a poet, too?" Kristen listened to his words carefully, he sounded like a hopeless romantic. It was sweet and in a way strange; the teen was sure many people thought those things but never vocalised them. Admittedly she was one of those people; she did not like to appear vulnerable. The redhead leaned into his side as he rested a hand on her hip - guiding him towards the house. Kristen liked physical contact and she liked feeling close to people, touching helped her feel like there was a connection. Though it was very innocent.
She raised a hand to her mouth and let out a small laugh, this guy was too smooth not to be seedy. Though she was not here to judge and from what she had seen Methab was harmless; Kristen would like to think herself as a good judge of character. "Well in that case we will open your present." She nudged him with her elbow playfully.
When he stopped to look down at her she stood speechless for a moment, did he think she wanted to? Well she guessed she did just ask him to come into a locked room with her. "Not more so than I already have been? I mean you are cute but I am not into casual hook-ups." She smiled as she looked up at him, it was not because the option never arose, it was just not in her character to do so. Maybe she was a helpless romantic too.
"So don't look so worried. It's just a drink. You're interesting, I want to talk to you some more."

Mehtab looked at the woman next to him, trying to not wink about his forward commentary. He wasn't going to remove the subtle offer off from the table. Not yet anyway. "Alright, lets talk and maybe.." His free hand snapped fingers. "We can see how much of a good time we can have yeah?" T e b i k ii realize I never wrapped this whoops but there we go
