Blue hair and eyes bobbed above the water, the strange character attached creating bubbles on the surface with his mouth. He sighed, wondering his day away. What would it be like to live on the land with the other Soquili? What would it be like to be able to have the ability to live both on the land and in the sea? He liked how trees looked, and wished to get up close and personal to one. Did their leaves taste like kelp? Or perhaps a bit more like coral? He pondered these thoughts as he bobbed in the waves, growing bored of his life in the sea. But then again, what would it be like to be the opposite? He'd lived in the sea his whole life, but never once had this thought. Here he was, able to stick his head out of water as he pleased, to gaze at the sand and the trees, but he'd never once thought of how it would feel to live so far into the ocean that such things were unthinkable.

With this thought, he dove back under the water, swimming to the reef he lived near. He watched the fish as they weaved through the corals, darted into the anemone, not a care in the world. Their only self purpose, it seemed, was to survive. "Well at least they have self purpose," he thought. They were pretty little things, though. Delicious as they could be, he wondered what the life of a fish consisted of. Eat, sleep, breed, die. But wait. Did they sleep? He'd never seen a fish with eyelids before. He stared at them blissfully, his thoughts wandering as he drifted with the current. Slowly, his eyes began to close.

Finnian drifted gently through the reef, his mind in far-off lands. Well, not so much far off lands as far off realities. He daydreamed vividly, imagining he were an angelfish on the reef he'd called home. Blissfully unaware in his dreaming, he passed the reef, continuing on into deeper waters. A small smile graced the stallion's face as he floated aimlessly. In his dream, the stallion was black and white and yellow, eating small bits of algae off the reef. He had a mate of similar coloration, children, and a lovely little section of the reef all to himself. It was a rather simple dream, but he lived it to as much potential as he could imagine it, swimming in and out of the little holes that his Soquili-sized self could never imagine being able to get into.

He imagined an entire civilization in these little holes, with their own little homes and communities. He wondered if they communicated with each other, or if they were just like him. Quiet, reserved, alone. He wondered if his little fish family would live together, or if the children grew too quickly and were on their own. He wondered if fish raised their children, or if they fended for themselves from birth as he had. There were so many questions... He wish fish could talk to him, so he could understand what they were thinking, and perhaps even make a friend or two. He sighed wistfully. What a lonely life to be living. It didn't take long for him to come back from this suddenly depressing revelation, and when he opened his eyes, he had no idea where he was.
