Waiting for that DLC where he does get that option.
Except it probably won't ever happen.

Is there a DLC version? Thought you have to get a code from shop to get it. >.>;
Anyway, I'm on Chapter 8 at the moment. But I have to say the maps and winning status is pretty different compare to both sides.

Started last night. On Chapter 9 and so far I'm really enjoying how much it expects you to do earlygame with so few units! I know eventually you get pretty much EVERYONE so I expect that facet to change, but doing Chapter 8 with just four units was an enjoyable experience.
And the Wind mechanic is back! Except waaaaay earlier. Yaaay.

I just started Revelation last sunday, after leaving fates for a while to prevent burnout and to actually get work done while at home.
Efff Deeeeeeeeee when you said the wind mechanic came back, I didn't know it would be the same map from conquest! Good that it came back and in a more accessible way, but... couldn't help but be a tad disappointed it wasn't a totally new map. :B
Yeah, I agree that starting out with less units was a good change of pace. And that fact bright some new flair to some chapters like the wind one which was otherwise taken on by my near-endgame Conquest crew.
I liked chapter 13 too. Just beat it. Felt like I had to get cerebral again. The moving of rubble I used a little bit, but the fact that a few of the revelation gimmicks so far have involved adding extra steps to navigation like the fog chapter and the ice bomb chapter (Instead of just using dragonveins like conquest) is a bit ehh to me. The chapter layout itself is pretty great though, and gave me some trouble.

Now that my sister is all ~mawwied~ I can finally get back to playing this!
(Just going to throw everything under a spoiler cut anyway, just to be safe.)
It's been interesting doing a few maps with so few units, but that's starting to change very quickly. I've already decided I want to use ALL OF THE ROYALS, plus Mozu and Hayato, since I didn't use them at all before, and possibly one retainer per royal or so; we'll see how units turn out, too. So far, I'm also using Kaze, Jakob (because female avi), Subaki, and Selena, and I intend to use Laslow, too, for certain. No idea who I'm going to marry yet, but that's for a bit later on. Will probably be ignoring the kids this time, unless I marry someone whose kid I've not gotten yet (although I'm intentionally not going to marry Hayato off, because I don't want Rhajat. Tharja creeped me out enough in Awakening as it was; I want nothing to do with her expy).
Honestly I LOVED the ice bomb chapter, if only for the pun and SMASH ALL THE THINGS! I didn't like that we got more ice two chapters later (and EFF CHAPTER ELEVEN, that's going on my list of "Maps I Never Want to Play Ever Again," right below Conquest chapter ten), and the dragon veins in that chapter were to . . . create more ice . . . so that we could . . . walk on the ice . . . 'Kay, sure, fine, whatevs, just don't make me fight Camilla! STOP MAKING ME FIGHT MY SIBLINGS, GAME! But at least I didn't have to camp my royals on the dragon veins this chapter. >:C
I will forever be salty about that map. Sue me.
Chapter thirteen was interesting with all the rubble, although I didn't use it a ton; used it more for protection than the blocking/pigeonholing of enemies. Did not fight either of the bros. Also, for REALZ, why can't Scarlet and Ryoma support??? This is a TRAGEDY.

I just realized that I haven't really talked much about FE Fates around here much or been here at all really.. It's been about maybe two or three weeks ago that I finished Revelations so what the heck I'll give in my in overall thoughts here.
Out of all of the three paths in Fates, I rather liked revelations quite a bit because it gives you both things to enjoy from Conquest and Birthright. Not to mention Revelations by far had my favorite endgame boss I absolutely loved the way it was executed! It kind of gave me nostalgic feelings towards the Shining Force's(A very old SRPG classic game I am rather fond of) final boss of that game.
I think it's by far my favorite Endgame in the FE series just the way it's so unexpected bringing the player completely on the edge.. Maybe it rivals Mystery of the Emblem or King Ashnard? It's tough to say because they're all really well executed FE endgame bosses. It's honestly the most fun out of the three even though yeah if you fail you need to start over from the beginning again. As much as I hated that in Fates I wasn't nearly bothered by it here as much. I was constantly invested to see where the heck they were going with this in the game's story. and In the end I was pretty satisfied.
Now, I do have some problems with Revelations. At first the numbers of units you're working with starts out in a fairly small number. But later on I began to realize wow there's so many units to choose from in this game because it combines both Conquest and Birthright so you'll get characters from both games in your party. It just felt overwhelming having this many characters at least to me personally. Some of the game mechanics felt hit and miss to me. Like I really loved the heck out of Chapter 16 and 17 by far the best maps in revelations imo.
All of the pieces start to come into realization around this point of the game. You have no idea what to expect where the blazing paths of fire will turn either against you or in your favor. But no it doesn't stop there, it hits you with more completely out of the blue and while I dislike maps that don't take a break I think they worked it in really well. Now, one of the chapter's I really did not like was Chapter 23. That map wasn't very fun and it got really monotonous and boring quite fast. Enemy placement in Chapter 23 was extremely ridiculous too.
It's like yeah... Revelations did a lot of really awesome things right but it's still missing most of the creative stuff from Conquest I feel... Still, I think Revelation told the best story out of all of the three paths.
